The hotel is older but the parking was good at the back of the hotel and the location was excellent

The staff were helpful the food was poor and very expensive ( pay extra for cappuccino at breakfast) .Buffet breakfast very poor worthy of the most basic chain travel hotels .

This historic hotel has charm! The bed was comfortable, the room was quiet. It's in a great location.
No air conditioning, but a fan was provided and the windows opened, so it was fine. The food in the restaurant was mediocre.

Booked late whilst on the motor knowing we had to stop. Receptionist was so helpful. Got an email confirmation with postcode to car park. Great service throughout stay.

Lovely hotel -- room had just been refurbished so was in excellent decorative order. It's an old building so floors and ceilings were quite sloping which made navigating the room a little difficult. Also there's no lift in the hotel.

We liked the area and convenience to the cute surrounding town. We liked the room we had and the bathroom was quite nice with lots of hot water. We had dinner at the restaurant in the hotel and it was really bad. My sister ordered potatoes and they were not fully cooked and were hard and not roasted as the waitress said but boiled. When we told the other waiter he said that's how they are.

We were upgraded to top deluxe room which was excellent.Hotel has definitely had a lot of improvement since our last stay . Staff,food and facilities are excellent

We have stayed at this hotel several times previously. It looks quite dated but the service is very good and welcoming, the room was good (bathroom especially) a good welcome is assured, and breakfast was excellent as always.

Beautiful historic hotel full of character and within 5-8min walk from the train station. Staff is very friendly, welcoming and super helpful. Bedrooms are very comfortable, warm and clean. Breakfast is delicious and plentiful. I had a lovely stay and will stay there again if/when I come back to Penrith.

Stayed in room 20. This room has been refurbished to a decent standard however I did not sleep very well. I could hear traffic noise and late night shouting from people passing by due to the old windows not being completely air proof. Would have given a higher rating if this could be improved, maybe add secondary double glazing? Breakfast was ok and plentiful. If you’re used to sleeping in complete silence, as I am, then maybe this is not for you

We had a lovely overnight stop at the George. The staff were friendly, polite and helpful and the whole place was spotlessly clean. Our room was very comfortable and the bar was very nice.

Beautifull hotel, located in city centre and within 5min walk from the rail station. Very warm welcome, stunning bedroom and bathroom, very quiet. Just fantastic, I wish I could stay here forever!

Single room with nice big bed ,bit old fashioned but adequate for the price .Small bath with shower .Good parking although might be limited if busy and you arrive late .Restaurant/Lounge provides good food at reasonable prices and the cooked breakfast choice and quality is outstanding,
