After an international flight into St. Louis, we decided we didn’t want to drive home and were looking for a place to lay our heads for the night. This was a good pick! Cool view of the Missouri River from our 14th floor room. It was quiet, so we had a restful (and much needed) night of sleep. There was severe weather in the area during the night, so there was a loud alarm and verbal alert that sounded from a loudspeaker in our room around 3am, BUT it was a tornado WARNING, so I’m grateful we were alerted so we could take shelter as quickly as possible!

Beautiful vut one bed had stains in the sheets with body hais and black specks. Other bed was clean so we just slept in that bed. Other than that beautiful stay.

First, I want to say that Ameristar employees are always so nice. I called earlier in the morning before my arrival to see about early check-in. Apparently, I was told incorrectly about early check-in over the weekend when I spoke to a different employee. So, when I called the morning of my arrival about a room, they said they always charge $60 for early check-in. Due to the miscommunication over the weekend, they waived the fee as a courtesy. Thank you to the front desk lady as that was so much appreciated! Unfortunately, this is the dirtiest room I've ever had at Ameristar. There was a big sticky spot on the desk in the sitting area. Both beds were not changed in the room. The one bed had a huge wet discolored stain. The other bed had dirt or sometime in it. However, Landon at the front desk was sooooo nice. He gave me a food credit for the hotel restaurants due to the inconvenience. The housekeeping gentleman was sooooo nice and thorough as well when he came to change the beds. He always checked with me to make sure the sheets, comforter, pillow cases were clean enough and that the beds lookee good. The last thing is the pool was closed. It's never been closed this early in the season before. They usually have the indoor portion open and I've been here a few times during October, so, this is definitely new. On a positive note, I appreciate Ameristar and their employees for always making my stay enjoyable.

The pool closes far too early at about 7 so you cant enjoy the wonderful pools if you want to go out and dite see or have dinner. There are all these wonderful outdoor seating areas that are gorgeous and you cant enjoy any of it after 7 pm. Its a waste. Also there are limited food options. Youd think being connected to the casino would be a plus for that but its not. Most restaurants arent open daily and the ones that are the food is sub-par. I wouldn't stay again for these reasons unfortunately. The room was beautiful but the amenities do nothing for the experience.

My biggest complaint is being woke up by hammering and power tools at 6:30 am. Next time I stay will make sure no construction is going on.

Do not go here with kids, pool is closed ALL DAY Friday to Monday to kids. It was outside my window and there may have been 1 person in the pool area until later in the evening. Don't take your kids.

Stayed 3 days, each day awakened at 6:30am with hotel construction noise. Changed rooms to no avail. Hotel unapologetic to the noise, DO NOT stay here unless you get up before 6:30.

Challenges: We stayed on 5th floor and there was marijuana odors which was disappointing and equipment in workout room was not all working. We found one treadmill working but yet paid for the resort fees to include the gym. Pool was also closed day of check in because of lighting. I reported equipment issue in gym. We were there for an hour and nobody checked in.

The newly remodeled river view room was so disappointing - the room had tile floors and sparce furniture in sunken living room. We had stayed at hotel Oct 2023 and the room was warm , comfortable , felt home-like. This stay, we felt as if we had been downgraded. So many ammenities were missing. No water glasses (glass or plastic), I was told to use one of two paper coffee cups as a water glass; no luggage rack, only 4 coat hangers in closet, shampoo/conditioner in pump dispensers on wall in shower, room phone un-reliable, wiifii kept dropping signal, in lower room a long desk with only one chair, An un-inviting sectional seating across room, no restaurant menus - had to scan code on smart phone to get menu, By they way, the sport bar downstairs had such poor service and it wasn't even crowded. I was told it was too late for take out order (9:30 PM) - I would have to be seated ,place order, then ask for left over container ?!
We actually checked out 2 days early because of disappointment.
There are only two positives: river view and comfortable bed.

For a “Resort” it does not have a resort feel on a weekday. Amenities closed…like the poolside bar/grill. If you are poolside you have to go to the Spa or walk all the way to the Casino area to get a drink. Would be nice to have a pop-up when reserving that certain things are closed. Additional restaurant and bar not opened the days we were there. Clean rooms, nice pool, easy parking.

Great location and room. Service was horrible. No valet and ZERO bell service. Two elderly adults with walker and a cane and there was no service personnel to help assist with luggage. THis was on a weekend when room rates are over $250 and $300. Never even saw maid service and room never got attended to (TP, towels, soap, tissues, etc). If you need some attention other than a nice room, good luck.

I'm from Illinois and lived in Vegas for a long time and after coming back here I was so looking forward to staying at Ameristar. You can get a room in Vegas on the strip for $60. Hotels.com almost always helps waive security deposits and early check-in fees. A room was over $200 here on a Monday night, and arriving there out of state they arbitrarily charged us an additional $75 for a 2-hour early check-in. This is completely unreasonable considering the room was ready and the hotel was not even at half capacity for the evening. They refuse to discount or comply with hotels.com request to waive this fee (that's almost half the room fee for the entire night for 2 hours!!). Arriving there we were very excited and the room was extremely nice! But two out of three TVs did not work there were lights in the room that would not turn off preventing restful sleep and after midnight a very loud noise continued even as we checked out. No explanation for the noise. And after advising the hotel staff of our miserable night they asked if we had contacted them about the disturbance and other complaints? I had to say why would i? You didn't care that I had no money to eat or gamble at your hotel, which was good because only one restaurant was open no stores, and if you didn't care that I was miserable at your hotel why would you care if I got any sleep? Oh and three drinks and order of fries at hotel bar was almost $60 we left broke & upset. Very sad, not even bellman or valet short staf

This is a poorly run property that was once much better. (We've stayed at this resort in the past.) We won't be staying at Ameristar again. Period.
Positives:
- great location by a major freeway and lovely, historic St. Charles
- large and pretty in a broad, architectural sense: feels like big casino resort overlooking the Missouri River
- the rooms remain architecturally interesting and were shaped and built with generally nice, thoughtful materials and design details
- easy parking
Negatives:
- the vast pool area is only open seasonally now, and it's noted in a subtle manner on the resort's website; this is in spite of it having been 80 degrees every day, there being an indoor pool portion, and there being hot tubs; in most of the world, outdoor hot tubs remain open year-round or almost year-round: think of ski resorts, for example; this is just lazy and terrible cost-cutting
- the resort is still charging its resort fee daily; clearly a money-grab even though the pool areas aren't open
- they try to claim the spa is a replacement in some sense; but the spa is a paid service, by a lot, so this is just another money-grab
- check-in was terrible: they don't really care on any level if you're arriving early, won't try to have your room ready early, and instead try to sell you on an $85 early-check-in option; then they tell you they'll call or text when your room is ready, but they don't

Room was great...we thought the indoor portion of the pool was open but it was not. Casino was fun!

There was not a room available at the time of check-in, even thought I did have a room reserved. This cut into our time and plans substantially.
The tv’s would not work. When we called the main desk they informed us that the “tower was out” and that no one had working tvs. There wasn’t really any kind of apology for the inconvenience, no comp offering, not really even an apology, which I found to be the most annoying.
