If I could give this place a higher stat rating I would. Beautiful, restful, sublime. A family run hotel that holds service and beauty close to their hearts.

Quiet, safe with great view, nice staffs, I really loved the bamboo forest outside the backyard of the room.

Traditional and clean onsen hotel. Parking is available and the outdoor public onsen was nice. A bit disappointed to know the indoor bath in our room is only tap water not onsen.

Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is a nice cosy stay at Arima which will never regret!

It is a big and traditional tatami onsen hotel, we enjoy the autumn view from the dinning room and relaxing room (where provide self-serve cafe or tea), public onsen bath is just prefect while we booked also the smaller private onsen Easy to walk to the onsen old town

Friendly staff and good environment

contacting the JTB to file an official complaint, try to get my money back. I have stayed in Ryokans across Japan - this should not be categorized as such. booking process: did not received a confirmation for my booking via email, and no one reached out to confirm my reservation. had to contact hotel directly through a chat portal - despite the advertisement the staff spoke English, no one did. Cancellation process is purposely misleading: it says you can cancel by X day, but check the fine print: you can cancel by 12:01 AM on X day. The first of many Scammy practices. On arrival no one spoke English. One staff member speaks but if they aren’t in the office (which was only one time) you are on your own. I was told meals were “sold out” - which is to say again, there should have been a confirmation or contact ahead of time to reserve the meals? I was able to get into breakfast, I was greeted by a waitress slamming plates rudely. food portion not a “meal” Map with food led to no open places. Request for taxi response “we’ll see” leaving me with feeling of dred I’d miss flight next day. Room cleaning costs extra, one of many extra costs not advertised. No one could bring my correct shoes. At checkout bill was in Japanese with extra charges, again,not advertised. At almost 400USD a night + scam fees this was a joke. Unlike traditional Ryokans I left anxious, frustrated and feeling taken advantage of. Will be contacting Tourism Board/Hotels.com for complaint and full refund.

Good in location near the train station. But steep scope to reach front door. Small hotel style and tiny outdoor onsen pool which only allow 2-3 people. Indoor pool is normal size. Believe never too crowd as rooms is limited and there is 3 private onsen rooms. Meal is very good as is I expecting when choosing this hotel. Hotel.com didn’t mentioned meal at restaurant. Hopefully hotel can arrange In-room dinning for my second night stay dinner with additional charge.

I really enjoyed my stay, the service was fabulous and the traditional style rooms were just what we wanted. Perfect for relaxing! We were especially pleased to be able to book a private bath for a very reasonable price. The location is also great, we walked everywhere with ease.

Arima is a lovely onsen town in the hills. I should have stayed longer. A quiet and peaceful place away from the madding crowd.

Amazing food and nice onsen

We had a great experience in this hotel. The front desk staff came out from the lobby to give us a warm welcome. He also took us to our room, showed us the hotel facilities and introduced the dinner and breakfast arrangement. Dinner was kaiseki style and it was served in our room. The lady who served our dinner was attentive. She also made our bed after dinner. Breakfast was traditonal style and it was served in the breakfast room. Onsens were quite nice as well and not very crowded. They swapped the male and female onsens in the morning, so we could try all onsens with 1 night stay. You can also book a 45 minute private onsen session with extra cost.

Feel relax and nature

The location is quite good, view from the room is perfect, staff of this Ryokan are very helpful. The ryokan has two baths and is switched between men and women on a daily basis. It has a shuttle bus but you don't need it unless you have a lot of luggage, it's only 3 minutes walk to the train station.

We enjoyed a one night stay at this beautiful ryokan and enjoyed Japanese hospitality to its finest. The hotel staff were warm, welcoming and eager to assist. They showed us to the room personally and introduced the room features, hotel facilities and the area. They even have a gourmet map for guests that points out the different delicious food in the area. Onsen facilities are very clean and lots of amenities are provided inside. The futons were extremely comfortable and the view from our balcony was great. All in all, it was an exceptional stay and I would highly recommend!

Probably the most traditional ryokan I have ever stayed in. I reserved 3 rooms for our group and they upgraded 1 of them to a big room. They also served us dinner for our group of 8 inside our big room, which was nice. Did I mention the dinner quality was excellent? I have to say the onsen itself was very plain. It served the purpose but there was no view whatsoever. Size was also small but fortunately not many guests were there when we soaked. Also the rooms have no private showers or baths. You have to use the public bath. You have to climb 40 stairs to one of the two onsens assigned to men (onsens switch daily). Breakfast was served in the big restaurant and was of good quality. Rooms were old but kept in decent quality. Service was great.

This hotel is in an excellent location for exploring the arima hotsprings area and is close to excellent shopping. The arima toy museum is within easy walking distance. The food at the hotel is very traditional and delicious, and supper was served to us inside our hotel room. As for the hotsprings itself, there is both a public and a private option. The public bath is gorgeous with beautiful scenery of trees, and I'd recommend going at night to enjoy the relaxing atmosphere. The private option cost just over 3000 yen for 45 minutes and was nice since my boyfriend and I could go in together. You have to book this option in advance with the hotel staff. Overall, this was a very relaxing and old hotel, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a traditional Japanese inn experience.

The room has a smell of trees or grass, the mattress or yukatta may possible have something dirty which make my skin itchy and red spot on my hand skin appears. Not too recommend the accommodate in next time.

Location is near train station. The hot spring is fantastic and both breakfast and dinner have a good Japanese style experience.
