Great stay, lovely old building as expected from York. Staff brilliant and inviting from the off. Would 100% stay again!

Beautiful hotel, lovely rooms, with very comfortable beds. Very clean, my only flaw was the male bar manager on the Saturday afternoon after having some afternoon tea we thought we will have a drink in the bar. When we enquired about a table he was very abrupt, said we can’t accommodate, wasn’t what he said more the tone and unlikely the lovely lady from the night before made no attempt to help. We eventually found a table and it then took 25 mins for them to come and take an order, when we went to the bar to order he again was abrupt and said table service only, when 3 people were standing doing nothing, It was a very very busy day but not the service we expected. Saying that I would 100% stay again.

Absolutely 5 star . Hige room very comfortsble and definately worth the money. Breakfast was amazing loafs.to choose from.
My only little.gripe was they take 100 pounds as a bond and are supposed to put it back on your card . This took a week this was not explained until i seen my receipt by email . Had to ring and enquire. This should be explained before booking

Wonderful stay, from arriving outside the door, service was exceptional. Room was well appointed and very clean. Bed was luxurious and very comfortable. Cocktails in the bar are amazing. Would never hesitate to recommend this hotel

As ever the welcome and service and facilities at the Grand didn’t disappoint - unfortunately our room (43) in the modernised wing overlooked delivery part of neighbouring hotel and we were woken at 6 by noisy delivery men (3 lorries in succession) after complaining the hotel dealt with the matter appropriately and relocated us to equivalent room making appropriate compensation for upset and inconvenience. Despite this I would still return as jt remains our hotel of choice in York

Fantastic hotel. From the minute you arrive at the entrance, the staff do everything they can to make you feel special and welcome. The hotel is beautiful and the level of cleanliness is impeccable. We had a beautiful room on the 5th floor with a lovely view. The spa is wonderful too. We will be back!

Perfectly pleasant stay. Friendly staff. Reasonable room. Ok pool and spa. However I would say not a 5 star hotel. I’ve stayed in very similar 4 star hotels, just felt slightly lacking and like they didn’t go the extra mile that a 5 star stay deserves.

What a beautiful hotel. Easy walk from the train station. We were welcomed by the door man upon our arrival. From desk was friendly and helpful. Concierge was always willing to help. The room was so large and beautiful, we almost didn't want to leave. When we did, it was an easy walk to all the sights.

Everything about this experience was outstanding. The hotel is very close to the train station and the center of the city. The staff, spa, and room were all incredible. The highlight was dinner in the Legacy restaurant which was an experience of a lifetime.

We were in a suite in the older part of the hotel. Room was beautifully decorated yet with comfort and practicality in mind. Staff members very helpful; room was clean and well appointed (without the "old building" smell that permeates some older hotels). Breakfast must be ordered in advance but well worth the cost (best we had throughout a UK vacation). Location was excellent.

Lovely room which was very spacious with high ceilings, nice furnishings (including black out curtains). Staff were very friendly. We loved the marble around the bath and the fittings. Powerful shower which was a bonus. We’ve only just got married and the hotel kindly sent us up a complimentary surprise bottle of Prosecco.

The Grand in York is a truly spectacular hotel located conveniently to the train station and the city and beautiful surroundings.
I found the spa to be a little disappointing and the package allowed for 3 hours to relax. There really wasn’t the space to do this. Treatments were wonderful however. If I stayed again I would just book a treatment and take advantage of the 1 hour per day offer to access the pool area.

Room was warm when arrived. No one from maintenance showed up about my AC complaint. Front desk had someone send up a fan that was on a timer. Also
