This is the perfect place to stay in Bacalar. Each unit has an equipped kitchen so meals can be prepared in room or it is walkable distance to many choices of restaurants. Parking is safe and secure. Staff are so friendly and helpful. Morning breakfast under the palapa is a great start to your day.

We had a really nice view of the lake. Staff was attentive and site security was good. Rooms look nice but need updates. We lacked hot water and the internet service wi-fi was nonexistent (even after requesting a fix). The hotel was not quiet for a number of reasons, often waking us at night.

All pool lounge chairs r broken! Needs replacement. Can use seat cushions on suite patio chairs. Cannot sit on wood for very long

I've stayed here twice now and love it. While they have to manually open the entrance door and car gate there is hardly a delay. It is safe and secure. Will be returning. I just hope they don't replace any more refrigerators with the smaller ones. I prefer the large ones to make ice for my water containers.

Perfect location. We could easily walk to the gorgeous lake with waterfront restaurants or the center of town with all the restaurants and shops. Plus we had a little view of the lake. Staff was very nice. Rooms were spacious. Faded beauty but good price. Restaurant is only open for breakfast sometimes but there’s a good breakfast cafe a block away. They keep the front gate locked and we felt perfectly safe.

We enjoyed our stay at Villas Bakalar. The location is good and an easy walk to restaurants and the lagoon. The rooms could use a little bit of a refurb. Although there is a small kitchen don't plan on cooking much. There is very little in the way of pots/pans/utensils. Both the electricity and water went out for a whole day and didn't come back on until 8pm, which was a bit of a nuisance, but the hotel did offer us breakfast as a recompense which was nice. This is listed as a 5 star hotel, but it's definitely not, so don't get your hopes up.

VEIW OF THE LAKE IS AMAZING. VERY CLOSE TO THE LAKE AND RESTURANTS AND STORES.
STAFF VERY NICE AND HELPFULL. WE HAD A 2 BEDROOM SUITE SECOND FLOOR WHICH WAS A LARGE 2BEDROOM APPARTMENT WITH SITTING ROOM DINING A ND LIVING ROOM AND KITCHEN AND REFRIGERATOR , STOVE AND MICRO WAVE.
VERCOMFORTABLE BEDS AND WHICH WAS CLEAND EVERY DAY. WE CAN'T ASKE FOR MORE!

It's a beautiful spot close to the centre of everything with a great view of the lake. The wifi had me freezing on Zoom calls, but was pretty good for everything else.
The breakfast is made for you beside the pool up until 10am and is very reasonably priced.

Spent 2 days at the hotel.
Internet was not very good to work, but I suppose it's everywhere in bakalar. Breakfast was good (not included) and the appartment big and nice, somewhat old (80s?). The TV wasn't flat (didn't see one for a decade).
It's a gated hotel so someone has to open you to park the car or to access the property, a little bit annoying if you go out late

This might be a suitable place for Mexican families because the rooms are actually suites with kitchens. However , the staff speak no English at all and that could be a problem for travelers who do not speak Spanish.

We stayed here two nights on way to Belize... hotel was good for the price paid..3 blocks from the plaza, restaurants nearby and a small store, wifi ok, bed a little hard, nice staff with limited english.

Little paradise. Close to downtown. Just go down to avenida 1, make a right, walk till you come upon the pirate port (looks like pyramids ). Walk up the stairs and welcome to Bakalar :)

It was terrible the hotel doesnt have restaurant service, the pool was part empty. I have to leave the hotel 1 hour later I get there. I try to cancell but they tell me they are not responsables for my reservation.
