An excellent hotel conveniently located opposite Newcastle Central Station and within easy walking distance to many shops, bars, and attractions, the reception staff are so friendly and helpful and are a credit to The County Hotel. This was my grandson's first stay in a hotel so wanted to make it a good experience for him and this hotel did exactly that. Would definitely recommend this hotel and stay again next time I'm in Newcastle.

Great central location, next to the station / metro. Staff all very friendly. Unfortunately mid week Christmas party on just under our room which was very noisy (and not mentioned at the time of booking) and like other affected guests, wanted to be moved. Had booked a deluxe twin which was reallly nice but had to move to a smaller and inferior room but at least we could sleep! Staff however managed this move promptly and without fuss. Ate in the restaurant which was fine. Nice wine bar attached to the hotel

Great location. Close to train station, arena, shops and restaurants.

One night city break. Location of the hotel perfect. Quiet apartment at the aparthotel part of the hotel. Clean. No complaints whatsoever

Lovely friendly hotel. Car park is not the biggest so it’s pot luck if you get a spot.

Room was very tired and looked like the carpet had not been swept.

Perfect position for where we were going for the night out
Reception staff were really friendly
The apartment was very comfortable and clean, we would definitely stay again

We enjoyed our stay however the mattress in the room we stayed in 103 county apartments was terrible
The springs were sticking in my back with resulting in a very sleepless uncomfortable night
I was in so much pain the next morning
Which I asked if they could provide me
With a mattress topper
In which the cleaner did help and made up my bed with this on my
Return back

Good location for transport and restaurants. I would definitely stay here again

We love staying at this hotel , the service is impeccable, they go above and beyond to accommodate you , nothing is a trouble at all. A big shout out to Alan behind the bar , very helpful always had a smile on his face

The hearing was broken. Had to complain multiple times before two broken heaters were delivered.
One sparked all through the night, was worried it was going to catch on fire. Wasn’t even PAT tested. But was freezing cold so had to use it. Complained in the morning to be told I should have been offered a new room and sorry! Ridiculous service

It was extremely noisy at the front of the hotel so I didn't sleep well at all.

Booked a studio apartment, wanting a bit of extra space for the weekend. One of the selling factors was a bath. First room we were given had a lovely walk in shower but no bath. On coming back to reception, the member of staff would not believe me, double checked, phoned the main hotel and eventually came up to check for herself.
She was apologetic and organised us another room …. again no bath. So she went off with a master key and eventually found us one. In hindsight I should have stuck with the spacious walk in shower, because the bath (and bathroom) was cramped.
In addition there was a lot of dust on the headboard.
Room was extremely warm, but there was no thermostat control of any kind, other than on the radiator - which was turned off. A lot of heat radiated from the bathroom mirror.
November, and we had the fan on full blast in order to try and sleep!!
Day two the room was serviced, but they only replaced one set of towels. Tried to ring reception but the room phone didn’t work - so walked down to collect another towel. The receptionist said the phones were new and not operational yet.
Checked out and left two bags, was not given a ticket for them at all. They were in fact (luckily) just left in reception for the morning and were thankfully where we’d left them on return.

Lovely calm vibe and great food in the restaurant

Lovely staff, we had a couple of minor issues with our room but the staff went out of their way to resolve the problems. We were very impressed with our accommodation.

Hotel looked amazing when we checked in, sercurity with late night returns to hotel was great too. Unfortunately room wasn’t the cleanest but coming from a domestic cleaner myself I understand. Everything else was great and would stay here again

Overnight stay as attended function at hotel. Check-in was efficient and quick and even though were early (230pm) and expecting to leave bags and check in at 3pm, staff booked us in straight away.
Room was clean and well appointed so has everything you need for a pleasant stay. Only issue here was wifi, which is free, was a bit hit and miss. May just be because we were on the top floor and at the back of the hotel as it kicked in fully as we got closer to front of the hotel but it didn't impact on our stay.
Suppose the only negative things I have is it is definitely worth doing some investigation regards price as there was quite a difference between the hotels price and what was available online (£100 online-£170 hotel) and then you will probably have to add £20pp for breakfast.
Also, you can access the hotel through the hotels bar Hudsons (which is worth a visit) but only as long as no doorman is on!!!!
I tried to enter the hotel around 17.30ish through Hudsons after doing some shopping as it gives quicker access instead of having to walk round the corner and then walk back on yourself inside the hotel to access the lifts to the rooms.
Door Supervisor on Hudsons entrance, point blank refused to allow me accessthrough Hudsons to the hotel even though I informed him I was staying at the hotel

Had a nice day here and the location was great right opposite the train station . Only downfall was the room was to hot and it was October and the heating wasn’t on and no aircon only a fan , wouldn’t stay here in the summer as it must be unbearable

Convenient location for the station and was able to leave my bag whilst attending a football match the following day

Great location and lovely hotel. Staff are very friendly. We had a suite which was spacious and clean with a really comfy bed. The windows were facing onto Westgate Road but was not noisy at all.

We’ve stayed here a lot and each time the room has been spacious. However this time it was terrible. There was not enough room between the wardrobe and bed. We had to squeeze past it. But the worst was the breakfast. We paid £15 each. There was no bacon no sausage we had to ask for milk, the toast didn’t toast, tea was like water even though it had 2 tea bags in and I had stirred it. The coffee was like tar even though we asked for a weak coffee. When I waited for bacon the chef only cooked 4 rashers which went rather quickly so I gave up! Our friends had their breakfast round the corner at Wetherspoons and paid £13 for 2 small breakfast with unlimited coffee. I would stay again but I definitely will not be paying for the breakfast.

Enjoyed our stay the room was huge and the king size bed comfy. The room was nice and dark and fairly quiet as we were on the opposite side to the main road in front. Room rate was very expensive and did not include breakfast. We thought we could just have breakfast at The Hudson which advertises a breakfast and brunch menu but was apparently not serving food at 10:30 on a Sunday which seems strange. We ate elsewhere. I would return but not at the price of £160+ that we paid. There is very limited extremely small parking spaces available for a very reasonable £10 for 24 hours which was handy.

County is always great, clean, comfortable, had a great sleep and breakfast thank you

The bar had no pumps for the entirety of the first day but we were not advised of this when checking in. The second day it was still being worked on but I think was fixed around midday. This spot our trip a little as we like to come back to the hotel in the evening after dinner and sit and relax with a drink, we were not able to do this.
The breakfast staff on the first day weren’t very friendly. We were quite amazed when asking for a cappuccino at breakfast that this would be an additional charge! Breakfast was quite poor. Cooked food was ok but the pastries were very sad looking and not at all appetising as was the fruit. The selection was not what we are expected to receive from lots of other hotel stays this fell way below par.
The location was good though and the hotel itself was clean and the reception staff were friendly and welcoming it’s just other parts of the hotel which let it down.
I wouldn’t stay here again if we visited Newcastle again.

Very convenient location right across the road to the train station. Arrived early but was able to prebook in and leave our luggage so that when we came back very late at night all we had to do was collect our room key. The staff at check in and check out were very friendly and helpful. Our room was small but clean and warm with all the amenities required. We would definitely stay here again.

I only booked as we were travelling back from London on the Sunday, but had a concert to attend at Newcastle City hall and would not have had time to go home first.
Initially our train was due in at 6:37, however there were delays which meant it would not get in until 07:15 (concert start 07:30) therefore I rang the hotel to request a fast check in and if there was any info I could give over the phone to facilitate this, but they refused, only saying you can leave your bags and check in after the concert. I also emailed them but again they said the same.
Upon arrival, at 7:20, I quicly explained our urgency, but the check in was very slow and I was asked to provide all of the information I had previously supplied when I booked online.
After throwing our bags in the room we raced across town and got in the City Hall at 07:45, missing several songs from the first singer.
When we got back to the hotel we went straight to bed, but noticed there was heavy staining to the quilt cover, which we reported on checkout and also in 2 Emails, but never received any reply.

Check in was quick and the staff were helpful and friendly.
We managed to get straight into our room early, as it was ready.
The room was a bit on the small side as we had suitcases.

Hotel charged us twice - full room rate on check-in, then full room rate plus ‘£50 refundable deposit’ on checking out. Rang the hotel to sort it out & they tried to fob us off & blame Hotels.com. (It’s definitely the County hotel’s error as both payments debited from husband’s account when Hotels.com do not have my husband’s card details..) Anyway, now have to ring back tomorrow to speak to the reservations team. Appreciate mistakes happen, but not impressed as husband will now incur bank charges as a result.

staff were super friendly, never had any issues, clean comfy room, will 100% be back no fault with the hotel, near everything, will definitely be back

Our only disappointment was that we were told we could get refreshments at the bar. However, when we asked for a menu, the attendent informaed us that the bar did not serve food when the dining room was open.
