I enjoyed my stay. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was decent. The room was clean and the bed was a decent size for a single. Nice towels too. Would definitely stay again.

Located on NC500, so easy to find. Full breakfast was very good. Rooms were clean, but shower was interesting. Water just keep getting hotter and hotter. No elevator so hope you get a room on the first level.

Old hotel but very clean. Excellent breakfast and Sunday dinner. Only negative was room was way too hot and didn’t get a lot of sleep.

The staff are exceptional, the beds are comfy and the cleanliness and food are outstanding.

I requested a low floor since my wife uses a cane, but was put on 3rd floor. The bathroom had black mold in the tub/shower. There was no hot water in shower or in sink. The 3 of us could only do "sponge" baths. The food at breakfast was cold including the beans and eggs. Do not recommend staying here.

The hotel was tired, floor was not vacuumed, urine on the toilet seat. The linoleum in the bathroom was peeling, upholstery on chair was peeling off.

Staff are really very nice but the hotel is very sad and in poor shape, everything reeks of cheap, food is poor and restaurant is not at all managed. Room is tired and in need of a makeover, bathroom absolutely shocking and worse shower in the world. Breakfast is usually the high point for me but not here, everything from the cheapest supplier nothing was cooked correctly or had been kept warm for hours. Sorry Pentland an 80,s hotel is not for me.

Loved bathroom. Big, spacious with 6 ft tub and separate shower. Not expected at this price point. Convenient electrical outlets with one by bed and two by the desk. Great lighting.
More attention to details in cleaning would have been nice. Not dirty, but the dusting and floors could have had a little more carefully.
Overall, enjoyed and would stay again.

The room was very well appointed, clean, spacious, quiet and cool (it was very warm during our stay). The staff was professional, pleasant and polite, making us feel very welcome. The one issue was the lack of a shower mat and the shower tray being too slippery, specially after you had soap everywhere.

Room was freezing and radiators required bleeding as air trapped. I mentioned to receptionist however instead of getting someone to fix she just wrote it in a book.
I’d got chilled at work so would have appreciated some warmth in room. Rest of Hotel was warm

Misleading photos. The first room we were given was very dated and the tv didn’t work, second room was more up to date but not very clean. The restaurant cleanliness and food was also not very good.

Shower had serious problems went scalding hot then ice cold over and over.

The rickety chairs in diningroom have still not been replaced or repaired.
Our room was very small, but still functional and as we were on a mega cheap rate that was quite acceptable.

Clean and comfortable. Friendly staff. Delicious food. Unfortunately the shower in our room (room 3) would not get warm no matter what we tried or how long we waited, so we had to resort to a stand up wash.
We would stay again though, hopefully with a hot shower next time!

Last minute booking due to cancelled ferries on a cold and windy night.
Room was very cold as heating was off and old sash windows rattling in the wind.
It did warm up once the radiator was on, but was still cold.
Staff very pleasant and helpful when we asked for blankets.

Parking outside is time restricted which meant we had to move our car a couple of times.
Apart from the temperature, the stay was fine and value for money.

Large rooms that were somewhat dated . No shampoo or conditioner and floorboards in the room creaked badly.
Reception and restaurant staff friendly however bar staff no so. Bed was comfortable but lots of noise from street late at night.

Booked a superior room based on website description and received inadequate, outdated without basic amenities such as shampoo and conditioner. Very disappointed.
