As soon as we walked through the door we were asked if we would like a glass of wine - which is exactly what we wanted to hear after a long journey. The gastehaus was lovely and comfortable, with stunning views across the valley. The "mini-bar" was stuffed full of the family vineyard's fine produce. I think you would be have to be fit to walk down the hill (and back up again) to Trittenheim, but there are two decent enough restaurants about five minutes walk away.
