The owners were as supportive as they could be, and agreed to a full refund without any additional stress being caused.

Sadly when we arrived there was no heating or hot water, after we had investigated we found that the prepayment gas meter was out of credit, and the emergency credit had already been used. I tried contacting the owners but couldn't get through, after speaking with Booking.com I wandered around Newport trying to find a way to charge the card, but most of the shops were already shut, and when I found somewhere their machine rejected the card. All very frustrating. After lots more chasing the cleaner appeared early afternoon on the next day, and managed to find a place to charge the card, and credit was added...sadly the boiler then didn't fire up properly and we had no choice but to leave and find alternative accommodation. The owners have given a full refund, without quibble, but it would have been better to have had a trouble free stay. The owner's themselves were was helpful as they could be, but were not local and reliant on the property management team...and that team probably needs to be changed as they are letting the landlords down. Aside from main issue, the property is spacious but desperately needs a visit from a handyman...the property has exposed floorboards, but an unacceptably amount of these weren't actually nailed down...an easy fix, but needs doing. The sofa's and soft-furnishings need a spot clean, the chest of drawers is literally falling apart and the beds are both damaged. All easy stuff, but it needs doing. The area itself is not exactly welcoming, but it didn't feel unsafe, just run-down and not especially loved. With some simple fixes and a credit meter being installed for the gas, this would have been a cheap and cheerful stay...but sadly ended up being a disaster!

The photos do not do the property or the facilities justice! I was very impressed with everything that was available and the size is perfect when you’re staying for a few days as a group. Excellent value for money and the owners are lovely and extremely helpful whenever I needed to reach out. Would definitely recommend!
