Modern, clean, comfortable, well appointed and excellent location
Modern and well appointed with separate bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, lounge area and outdoor balcony space. Tastefully furnished with leather lounge, large TV, eating table for 4 people, gas stove, microwave, fridge and all the cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils that one needs. Air-con unit was very good. Good block out blinds and drapes. Some nice furniture touches like plants, art work, statuary etc.giving it a homely feel. Bedroom has a queen bed that is very comfortable, good pillows, side tables with lamps and very large wardrobe. Bathroom was a good size with a large modern shower with good water pressure. The apartment is on the 9th floor so there is a good view facing west of Melbourne (great sunsets). Mostly quiet except for the occasional train passing by. Location is excellent if you want to be outside of the CBD (we were attending a wedding nearby) with a train station (Brunswick) on one side and a tram line (Sydney Road) on the other allowing good access to the CBD. Excellent coffee shop across the road (Project 281), a multitude of very good restaurants of many cuisines and pubs, bars and fast food places (spoiled for choice!). Barkly Square Plaza is a 10 minute walk and Woolworths is next door, so stocking up with food is very easy! Parking is under the building and included in the cost. Very secure as it requires security key to get into the building and also up the elevator. Very clean! Communication with the apartment manager (Aaron) was excellent.
Picking up the key is a little inconvenient, but not enough to not want to book the apartment again. If arriving by car it would be better, but we did not. The key pick up is at a nearby supermarket that is a 4 minute drive, but a 16 minute walk. We got our taxi to stop off on the way and on return to the airport. Obviously it would be better if the key was at the apartment block. The arrival information was very good with pictures to help, but they are designed for those coming by car. After we picked up our key we did not know where to enter the building to get to our apartment, as there were three entrances. But we did find it! PS it is on the north (railway) side toward the back of the building. In hindsight we should have used our key to enter the parking garage and use the elevator from there. If the key issue was resolved I would give a 10. Also, we stayed 4 nights and we only had one bath towel each and one hand towel between us. That may be OK for 1 night, maybe 2, but for 4 it would have been good to have another towel each. Ideally - 4 towels, 2 hand towels and 2 face washers....please. In my frequent travelling experience this is standard.
