Location was excellent and it was convenient for getting into town, staff were very friendly.

Maids kept banging on the door in the morning (and on one occassion opened the door and came in while I was undressed). Room wasn't in great condition and was a bit tatty.

Location was fantastic as right in Hitchin so perfect for exploring the town. The staff were friendly and helpful and could not do enough for you. Room was clean and comfortable and it was a good adaptation of such an old building. Nice green area behind to walk around. Bathroom had good facilities and bed comfortable.

Breakfast was ok but I think improvements could be made to this. Some strange choices on the buffet and maybe it would be better to keep it simple. Cooked was ok. Bread was a bit basic. Served a purpose though and was nothing bad. Tv was a bit small.

The hotel looks charming. It's in a very handy location for the town centre and we had a good waiter taking orders/ bringing out our breakfast.

There were very few staff on duty - we only saw someone on the Reception Desk when we first arrived. The only other person we saw was the waiter in the dining room. Whoever serviced our room took away the washbasin soap and didn't replace it. The tea and coffee we had used wasn't replaced either. The bedroom curtains were hanging off the rail and the shower cubicle was tiny - you either opened the door or turned the water off if you moved. The dust was so thick on the picture rail in the dining room it was in danger of dropping onto someone's plate at any moment and the communal areas obviously hadn't been dusted recently either.

The food was excellent ....both the evening meal and the two breakfasts. The location is central to Hitchin and accessing the town centre was very easy.

Nothing serious .... water pressure in the shower was a little weak but we were at the far end of a long corridor in an old building.
