Nice hotel in a good location. The happy hour was great with food and 2 free drinks. The parking is not great - there’s a hump on the pavement by the keypad and my car got stuck on it. The car was alright but I was really nervous about damage. Great location!

It was a lovely property. We enjoyed the spacious room. The food was delicious and presented well. My only complaint was that the bed was hard and not very comfortable. The pillows as well were hard to sleep on.

My husband and I stayed the weekend here to celebrate our elopement. We had top notch service, a clean room, and the breakfast is excellent! The room seems a little outdated as far as colors and furniture go, but the bed and pillows were very comfortable. I will say we asked for a riverview suite, and were given one, but I should have done my research because I didn't know the bridge was under construction! That's on me though, and the view was still great! I would suggest that if the hotel ever renovates the rooms, adding a bathroom fan and a shower door would really elevate it. We very much enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back!

Would stay here again if ever in the area. Kind of pricy but worth it.

We were there for a concert and this hotel’s location was great. The reception area was fine, but the room was hideous. The grout in the bath was orange and all the furniture was old and banged up. The door was barely holding together and the pull out couch was awful. The people working there were nice, but very thankful we were only there one night.

This is the worst Embassy Suites Hotel that I have ever stayed in. I had to change rooms two times. The room wasn't safe because the door did not lock. This hotel needs a TOTAL face lift.

Upon check in to the room the AC unit was dripping water and floor was soaked. Room was dirty, bathroom moldy and rust on the ceiling. Looked like cereal was spilled in the corner and not vacuumed between guests. Spoke to front desk and she said she would talk to manager about a discount and would call me to let me know the decision but she never called me back. They did offer a $50 discount on my final bill. Various staff I spoke to complained about management and acknowledged understaffing and poor facilities. Said that they bank on people being nice to staff because they are on vacation instead of really complaining. They also know we will be forgiving because it is not the staffs fault. Overall seemed like staff was unhappy and sharing with customers. I really like Embassy Suites and the room size was perfect for my family. But the hotel is run down, smells and staff are unhappy. Sad to see a great chain not living up to the Hilton standards.

No parking that you didn’t have to pay for the rooms were very outdated the free drinks they gave you were warm and was told by a staff member that it’s not the first time they have heard that from other people vents in our room had mold growing on them over all they changed full price for a big name hotel and gave a motel quality room and accommodation

The hotel wouldn’t let us check in on time according to our reservation. Then when we finally got to our room it stunk very strongly of cigarette smoke. They didn’t have another room to put us in, so they said they would come and spray the room. They never came by and the smell never got better.

Greatest experience ever have

Alyssa, who checked us in at the front desk, was pleasant, friendly, and very attentive. She sent up a dessert to our room to congratulate us on our anniversary! Or her staff remembered us, as well, the next day when we checked out. We walked down Court Ave for dinner, where there are many options within walking distance. We enjoyed the downtown skyline and lights and the river from our 7th floor window. We had a pleasant experience!

There is a sense of quality that you expect anytime you see “Hilton”. This property unfortunately didn’t meet the expectations that the name carries. The front desk staff was kind and polite. But the property isn’t well maintained at all. There was mold in the shower, hair in the drain. The AC didn’t shut off no matter what you did. There was only a shower door on one side so water just went everywhere. The bartenders were nice, but had no idea to make drinks. I can say this because I own a bar. There is no way this room was worth the almost $200 I spent on it. I didn’t take any photos because half the time no one does anything about it but send you a patronizing email telling you they will look into it. Im glad to be home, thats all I can say.

This is the first hotel that I could not sleep good because I feel unsafe, in the middle of the night you’ll hear banging noises as if someone was trying to open the door. The door inside would not lock. There was moldy food in the microwave. The sheets and pillow smells like they were not changed from previous customers. The complimentary dining, food is cold and just basic. We’d rather eat outside. There are small spiders crawling inside the room. No shower gel, bathroom is only half closed so the water goes on the floor. Very expensive for poor service. Not worth it. Best western is far more clean and much cheaper.

The fitness center was awful - hot and dirty. Room could use improvements: we had several lights out, the faucets and shower were weak, the evening reception was not great. Staff was friendly and helpful which made up for a lot.

The property has old facilities, which is understable given the hotel's age. The location was great as it was in Downtown Des Moines and had many great walkable options. The parking filled up quickly but there was a parking facility by the city in front of the hotel that was fairly accessible and reasonably priced (max of $10 a day).
