No on-site staff = check-in nightmare. This hotel has no staff on-site. I arrived after midnight due to a late flight only to find myself locked out of the hotel. I rang and ran the bell until finally a security guard answered the door. He was worthless, however. He said he only did security and pointed out a small number by the keypad that I needed to call. At least they answered and said I should have received check-in instruction via email but I didn't (later discovered it went to spam). He gave me a number for the keypad to open the building door and my room door. However, when I asked him about parking, he only provided worthless information--"We don't provide any parking. Park on the street." I ended up having to stop random strangers on the street to ask how parking works in downtown Reykjavik. At 1 am these were mostly drunk bar patron stumbling home but I finally found someone helpful (and sober) enough to show me an app that I needed to download to pay for parking and explained Reykjavik's P1, P2, and P3 zone system. By the way, P1 only allows for 3 hours parking max so, in order to not have to get up early just to move my rental car to avoid a parking ticket, I had to block several blocks away in the closest P2 zone to the hotel (which allows parking all day), and drag my luggage multiple blocks to the hotel. This is the kind of helpful information that front desk staff (or a dedicated concierge at a nicer hotel) usually provide. Not having on-site staff is bad.

Beautiful penthouse! Excellent service - owner was fast at respond and very helpful. Lots of shopping close by - souvenir shopping, grocery shopping, art. Restaurants, food, drinks, everything you can think of right outside the door! I’m walking distance to rainbow road and church.
