Absolutely loved this hotel. We stayed in the newer building and had a great room facing the water. Free use of kayaks and stand up paddle board. Breakfast is good, with a wide variety of selections. Highly recommend and will gladly stay here again.

Rooms were spacious. Bkfst was good. But the guy at the reception could show a bit of friendliness at check in. He was cold as a fish. However, Maria, at checkout, was warm and super helpful.

We hung our towels up as we did not need new ones each day but they were replaced each day

It was a wonderful stay at the Thon Hotel Sandven, Norway. The hotel was very welcoming to guests. Cleanliness was great. The breakfast had an elaborate selections.

We have stayed in 7 hotels during our trip to Norway and this was the worse and the only one we regret staying. It is quite pricey and it's advertised as this very relaxing beach hotel, for us it was not! They gave us a run of the mill room close to the main road, in an annex of the main building, room was just dull and depressing. Reception lady was missing curtesy and it had a "we don't care" about you sort of feel.
Parking was free and very convenient and we had a good breakfast...but that was it.

It is quite pricey and it's advertised as this very relaxing beach hotel, for us it was not! They gave us a run of the mill room close to the main road, in an annex of the main building, room was just dull and depressing. Reception lady was missing curtesy and it had a "we don't care" about you sort of feel.

I arrived at te hotel very sick with Salmonella poisoning, so during my stay I did not experience it as intended. My thanks goes to the outstanding staff! They let us cancel the next night in the hotel, they provided two small bottels of apple juice which, was dearly needed just to get a little bit of strength and they gave us a late check out the next day. Those two extra hours helped a lot actually. Best hospitality one can possibly get from a hotel. Thank you so much!

The hotel room was nice, we have enjoyed our stay. However, it was disappointing that the restaurant was closed during our stay for dinners and there are not amazing dining options in the town.

Staff lied to us about giving us the wrong room (we booked with one lagre bed) Truth is, the hotel was full and they put us in a room with twin beds instead of missing out on a booking.
Also, the so called «fjord view» was a tiny window which didn’t open. Dinner was OK at best, we should have dropped the entree. For a hotel situated in Norways cider distrikt, their selection of local ciders was abysmal.
Nice breakfast, but poor crowd control with regards to covid-19 and social distancing.
Next time we’re in Hardanger we’ll stay at Utne Hotel or Ullensvang.

The old part of the hotel/restaurant/ reseption was nice.
Our suite was not nice, there was a balcony, but the room was more like an institution room. All the walls had the same white colour. There was no pictures or any thing to make it cosy. And the room layout was really bad, a lot of empty space. Not at all worth the price.
Breakfast and dinner in the restaurant was nice with good food.
