Lovely family run hotel very convenient to city centre. Happy to stay again.

The room was ok, the bed a bit hard for my disabled wife. We had room 5, on the first floor and we had a fridge but then my wife pointed out it was the bathroom. No heating whatsoever. Breakfast excellent. Car parking free unless you book via, for eg Hotels.com, £10.00 a night.

Room was comfortable and decent size. Bathroom was clean and spacious.
Breakfast was excellent and freshly cooked with plenty of choices.
Location for town was a 5 min walk to the city wall and approx 10 minutes walk to The Shambles.
Staff were friendly.
The only minor drawback we thought was the hotel seemed a little tired but didn’t affect our lovely stay at The Minster Hotel.

We reported a broken toilet seat several times and nothing was done about it despite assurances it would be dealt with. Despite this everyone we spoke to was extremely friendly so I think it was probably just a mix up in house.
The Minster Hotel is perfectly situated for spending time in York, I use a mobility scooter and was able to get in to the city in a matter of minutes.

No lift, no help with luggage. Attic room on the street side. I suspect that Expedia users get the least desirable rooms. Location is excellent.

Excellent stay, staff went out of their way to help. Breakfast was very good something fir everyone. Hotel 5 minutes walk from centre York and 15 minutes from station, overall great position.

We had a very enjoyable 1 night stay here. We arrived and luckily managed to get the last car parking space, were quickly checked in and everything was good with our room, other than half the lights on the mirror not working and a few cracked tiles but nothing major. The curtains did let quite a lot of light through in the morning but as we were up early anyway this didn't really bother us. Breakfast was good, there was a buffet with juices, fruit, cereals, yoghurt, toast and pastries then you get to order cooked items as well, very reasonably priced breakfast and everything was nice.

Hotel is in a great location with only a 5 minute walk into town. Room was spacious and has all the facilities that you need. Staff were very friendly and the service was great. The section of the hotel we were in is old fashioned but we liked that bit. Overall a great place to stay for two nights.

Lovely stay at The Minster Hotel. All the staff we met were very friendly. We arrived in York early in the day, and they were happy to let us park in their secure car park leaving us to go off and explore the city before returning later to check in.
After reading some posts about uncomfortable mattresses, I was prepared for an unsettled sleep, but I understand they’ve replaced their mattresses, and ours was very firm and comfortable!
Breakfast was delicious, with a wide choice of pastries, cereals, fruit, meats and cheeses and a very good choice of cooked breakfast too.
We’ll definitely be returning!

Close by to the City walls,York Minster, river, park [were we fed the squirrels 🐿️] there’s lots to do in York if you’re looking for bars,restaurants, shopping sightseeing and a cruise on the river. The dungeons are a must . We always look to stay at the Minster hotel

After having stayed in a couple of bad hotels the previous two nights, we were super excited to arrive. The room was clean and the shower good. But the mattress on the bed was as old and hard as the floor in York Minster Cathedral. Literally painful. The bed was an old spring mattress with pillows equally hard. Could’ve been the perfect place, just desperately in need of new bedding.
