The location of La Puerta Azul is wonderful! It is on the quite stretch of island, but a brisk walk it short taxi (golf card) ride to the center. There were constructions at the hotel near but that was not bothersome. At breakfast, on multiple occasions the butter knife on the butter/ jam dish was dirty which made me think we’ve been eating the butter/jam left over from other quests. The plastic braided lounge chairs on the beach were very uncomfortable. It was such a turn off! The towels (one per person) were too small to cover the chair and you really can’t lay on these chairs without covering. The pain in the hot plastic braiding pattern indenting your body is no joke. We asked for one extra towel and were told NO! :( another turn off… The hotels around (next door) were much more appealing, comfortable lounge area, great restaurants and beach bars. We would have spent the days at La Puerta Azul if we were given an extra towel. Please get some lounge chair cushions!! Small price to pay to earn returning customers and increase revenue from your bar/ restaurant! For our next time, we’ll try a different hotel in the vicinity!

This would have had a different review but the road conditions were terrible! This is no fault of the hotel due to lack of drainage in the roads. Water is not as pretty in front of hotel

The staff at La Puerta Azul was incredibly helpful and nice. The rooms are super clean and spacious and you have access to the beach and a restaurant at the beach. The hotel is pretty far to downtown so if you want to go out to dine and walk around town it is quite far. Taxis charge $200 pesos each way so not cheap at all. The roads were flooded from a light rain a few days before we arrived so walking to and from the hotel through the streets was not an option.

Definitely not friendly AT ALL with solo travelers Not helpful Makes you feel completely unwanted Not the right people to work at hospitality specially the front desk staff Extras: Breakfast opens at 8:00am so it would be great if rooms had coffee machines or coffee available a bit earlier

We loved our stay and would definitely return. Everyone was so nice! The obly downfall are the very aggressive mosquitoes. Even with repellent, they are still able to bite which made our stay a little itchy. I would recommend wearing long sleeves and pants at night to help with the mosquito situation.

The staff was amazing always friendly and going over and beyond to make sure your stay is a great one. Very peaceful and great view of the ocean.

This was an awesome place to stay. Relaxing, clean, beach was amazing. Sunsets were absolutely stunning. Unlike anything I’ve seen before. Restaurant and bar on the beach were a bonus. The absolute best thing was by far the staff. After a few days they became like family. They went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed. They truly made my vacation special. Huge thank you to all of you. 😊

Property was very nice and relaxing, only that it was a little difficult getting to downtown. Would recommend this place for a relaxation and peace.

The hotel looked a lot better in the photos. The beach area was dilapidated and ugly and the pool was so small. The rooms were not very welcoming with small hard beds. And a bad location with a long golf cart ride to and from. Breakfast was good though.

What a wonderful small hotel! The beach was good and so easy to go back and forth between beach and room. The front office woman, Melania, was so very helpful with all we needed. The hammocks in the courtyard are an extra bonus.
