Can’t fault the location nor the beautiful building. Inside wasn’t in keeping with facade, poor bathing facilities and under part storage units, log burner (cheap!) ornaments mostly from Dulemn. Just needs some tlc, it’s a rental to make money that’s clear and corroborated by the locals. Didn’t see a soul to welcome us. Despite any of this, we absolutely loved our time here. People constantly take photos of the outside often thinking it’s part of the model village, which can be endearing. Definitely worth booking but maybe challenge the price so they upgrade the interior.

We had a wonderful stay in this property, the location is ideal. We do frequent the Cotswolds, we will certainly be returning to this location again.

A beautiful house with a beautiful location. Fantastic stay with comfy beds, ample space and great amenities. Would defo reccomend this house and Bourton. Penny easy to contact prior to and also the house contact was prompt with anything. Will defo be back!

Perfect size for two families. Excellent location from the centre and all amenities. Parking was quite tricky to navigate along a public footpath to the property. It clearly stated in the welcome folder that fortnightly bookings "the housekeeper will come in, mid term to change the beds, or if you prefered, they'd leave you a change of linen". This didn't happen. We stayed from Friday 15th December to Friday 29th December. The house could of done with some suitable wine glasses. Apart from this, it had everything you need, home from home.

This property is located right in the heart of the village on the banks of the river Windrush. It is very picturesque. Passing tourists loved the cottage and many took pictures of it and we felt proud to be staying there. The kitchen was very well kitted out with everything you could need. The biggest problem was the parking which was very tricky to access and involved driving onto a very busy pedestrian walkway along the river. Luckily all the local attractions were in easy walking distance and there were lots of nearby places to eat and drink and great walking trails but beware as some trails are very muddy in parts. There was a hairdryer although the blurb said there wasn't.

Great week in Bourton
Lovely house right on the River Windrush in the centre of Bourton on the Water. Easy access to everything Bourton and the surrounding Cotswold villages. Would definitely recommend.

We had a great stay at Fairlee House. The house is very well equipped, the rooms are spacious & the decor is pretty. The location is prime, although getting in & out of the parking can be a challenge in peak times as the driveway is across a pedestrian walkway. (This is a small issue for staying in such a prime location) we would definitely book here again.

A dream location
Sitting in the front garden, sun shining, right on the river, people and duck watching. Doesn’t get much better. Beautiful house admired by all that walk past it. If only I had a £1 for everyone that asked “is this your house” ? We will return I have no doubt, and i’m sure each of our 4 seasons will give a different and equally fabulous experience through the year

Lockdown Heaven
My husband and I would like to thank Penny and Rachael for looking after us during lockdown. We were visiting the UK from Australia and found ourselves unable to leave the village, they helped us find this wonderful home which we highly recommend and we also recommend HomeAway to look after you. Many many thanks.

A magical holiday
A truly beautiful house in the centre of the most idyllic village you can imagine.
A real home from home that we gave stayed in for the last ten years.
I hope this speaks for itself !!

Gorgeous property and location
This is a charming cottage, beautifully furnished, in the most stunning location in the heart of Bourton-on-the Water. Didn't want to leave. Truly a home from home.
4.5
The house is nicely located and has parking which is a real benefit in Bourton. On the outside it looks large and impressive, however, the inside is much smaller than it looks and is very tired. The downstairs dining room has been turned into a fourth bedroom which really restricts the space available. We were six adults and found it cramped (what it would be like with its theoretical compliment of eight is hard to image!) The downstairs loo has had a shower shoe-horned in which it simply is not big enough to hold. Fortunately, the weather was sunny and warm, so we did not need to spend much time in the house.
We stay in several houses each year and this is the first time we have written a poor review. Fairlie Cottage needs some TLC and reconfiguring for six - then it would be a great place to stay.

This cottage is so hard to rate! In some ways it's 5 stars and in others it is 1. Throughout the stay I found myself saying, that's fantastic, but that's terrible. For each aspect it it could be rated 5 star and 1 star.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Some people may well find this property to be a bit like marmite. I've tried to look at it from all angles.
We were a group of 4 (should have been 6 but the in laws were too sick to come)
Location - 5 star - you can't beat the location. It does what it says on the tin in this respect. The views from the living room window are beautiful and it's on the main scenic street. It makes fabulous people watching and it's always very busy. It didn't bother us but just be aware that because the house sits on the pedestrian path - people tend to people-watch back and have their pictures taken in front of the house. We actually enjoyed the very busy street on our door step because the visitors to Bourton were all lovely and respectful people
Location 1 star aspects - you have to drive a little way up aforementioned pedestrianised street to get to the cottage. Reversing out of the parking space is very difficult because of pedestrians and blind spots. We felt a bit of a plonker every time we got the car out. You looked like you were driving on a path rather than a road and people had to wait and stared at you like you were doing some thing illegal. You also look more of a plonker because you have to take time trying to avoid hitting the lamp post or falling in the water when reversing out. We had only 1 car. 3 small cars might fit but you have to park behind each other. If car 1 wants to get out car 2,3 would have to go through the rigmarole of moving out in to pedestrians to let you out
Size - 1 star and I only say this because it is supposed to sleep 8. There is no way we would feel comfortable having 8 people in the spaces provided. I think it is fine for 4 people to live comfortably, tight at 6 and I just wouldn't try 8. It's a 3 bed house upstairs and is exactly as it should be but unfortunately it has been given a ground floor dining room conversion in to a bedroom.
Lots of very grubby areas - mouldy bathroom seals etc. The place is surface clean but it needs a deep clean. Bathroom is way too small for the property and gets dirty so quickly. No ensuite. Beautiful original stair case. Excellent customer service. Beautiful from the outside. MUCH TLC needed on the interior.
