The TV never worked. I called when I first arrived at 6:00 PM and was told to try again a little later. I went to dinner and came back at 9:00 and tried again and it didn't work. SO, I called again and was told they would look at it in the morning. I got no use of as I was leaving at 7:30 AM. The only chair in the room did not have a light by it, so I could not sit and read. The balcony was useless...a wall toward the ocean; a big tree and someone's back yard. And a ladder in the balcony area.

NA but coffee supplies in lobby and cafes nearby
Coffee maker in lobby out of order; traditional pod pots in room would have been better since we bring our own

Charming old house with lovely and cozy common areas with old photographs and homely feel.
The basement bedroom was spartan and basic, but more importantly the central AC/Heater unit wasn't working. There was only a small electric fan heater available, which did not sufficiently heat the room. We called the customer service number about the lack of heat, and he made the point to say that their listing specifically does not mention that they include heat.

location
stayed there about 35 years ago. no maintenance or upgrades since then. only one outlet worked that I could find for phone and hairdryer. other outlets were covered or unable to reset. I’ve machine located outside without a scoop and anyone could get to it.

The hotel is situated about 4 minutes drive from the coastline. The room was comfy. Our bed provided great sleep. Two blocks from the main drag. Next door to a Denny's.
The staff uses a funky check-in system. Initially, they texted saying we could check in without assistance. But when we arrived, we had to go through a 10-15 minute check over the phone before we could access our room. The parking lot is too small for all guests to park. The people who arrived after us on a Sunday night had to park on the street, which has few available spots. The checkout is 10am, which is earlier than most hotels.

location, short walk to amenities
longer walk to aquarium and Cannery Row
our room needed new curtains and shower handles. Tea / coffee maker on the carpet should be replaced by a robust kettle on a desk

Good location, close to a lot of restaurants and shops.
They have a contactless check-in and out procedure.
The rooms don’t have AC! We stayed here during the heat wave beginning of September and it was hot in the room. In Addition, the towel heater in the bathroom was on and contributed to the hot room as well.
We found a couple black hairs in our bed as well as some dead flies. Also one of our neighbors watched very load TV during the night which kept us awake.
As no personnel is on site, you need to call them. What we didn’t do during the night. A later request for a partial refund due to the above was not granted. We would not stay here again.

I love Victorians, but can’t get inside many. This one is a little different and that makes it fun to stay in
The many steps. The fact that I wasn’t given a code to the main house without asking, and didn’t get to take advantage of the bigger space at first.

Nice location, and a lovely old building. Thoughtful welcome amenities.
While the room and building were clean, they definitely felt a little run down. It could be considered as "Quaint charm", but at those room rates, expected a little more.
The "Self checkin" process felt very impersonal. When we called the phone number a couple of times for questions, it seemed pretty clear that it was a management service not actually related to the hotel. I totally understand that "no onsite staff" is a boon for the hospitality industry, but I run an airbnb remotely myself, and I always ensure that the guests feel a direct connection to myself and the property. It is very hard to do that well, using automated text messages and outsourced answering services.

We didn’t have breakfast but I loved staying their
Beds are very Wobbly and every time we moved or roll to our sides the best or the squeaky. It left like it was going to fall apart , But we still loved the place
