Fantastic stay. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included and had variety. A number of restaurants with great food and staff. Organised guides for us. Very professional.

- Reasonable 10m pool - quite clean
- A lot nosier than expected with a lot of construction work from 6:30am to 6pm (banging, drilling, etc.) and windows are not very good vis-à-vis soundproofing
- No room service for food offered
- Very average breakfast for a 5* hotel

The heritage
More worn than heritage. Owners seem to be prepared to run down the place. Can imagine it used to be nice but getting too dirty and old. Having also tried a modern hotel in Kathmandu (Marriott) and other heritage hotels in Asia, I did not feel the price tag was justified. The bathroom felt grotty and my bedsheet had a bloodstain. Hallways were super dusty. Dinner with show did not live up too. Overall I feel it may have seen better days and would not recommend. Have to commend the fantastically helpful staff and servers though.

Wonderful staff of the hotel. The hotel itself is amazing which opens a window to history of Nepal. It inspires you to learn more about the art and history of Nepal. This is truly heritage hotel of Nepal. It is clean with nice breakfast. Lovely fishes in the center of the hotel yard calm your mind. I am grateful that I met Abhipsa, Sudikshya, and Sweety- they are excellent managers with people skills working at the registration. They are very helpful to help anytime and talk about their culture and traditions.

Quiet hotel with an incredible team of people (kind, helpful), good WIFI (I needed to work delivering trainings and it was flawless) and a spacious room (desk/ work station, living space, balcony).
After a long trip, having everything I needed in the hotel (great sauna) was great to rest and work.
The house is beautiful, although some areas need some maintenance.
Was not very lucky with the food of 2 of the restaurants.

The staff are excellent and extremely helpful. My nephew got sick and one of the staff took us to the hospital and helped us communicate with the people there. I can't imagine how we could go through all that without their help.

The property is beautiful and centrally located. Despite being surrounded by the hustle bustle of the area, it is tucked away in a corner and is a world of its own. The staff is discreet, helpful and polite and make your stay all the more enjoyable.

Stayed here in May for 2D/1N. The staff and the accommodation was excellent. We were upgraded to the biggest suite on arrival. As we were travelling with our 10 month old daughter, a separate cot was provided for her as well. The service during our entire stay was exceptional. The hotel seemed to be centrally located with all the spots within a 10/15 mins drive. There are multiple options for cuisines/restaurants to chose from. I'll definitely be staying here again whenever I visit Kathmandu next.

We stayed here for 2 nights as we arrived in Nepal, and what a perfect welcome that was. The exterior and the interior of the hotel were such a delight to the eye and the soul. All topped up by true Nepalese hospitality and an amazing breakfast!

The infrastructure was BEAUTIFUL. Architecture of different styles that exuded class and timelessness (rather than tackiness). Absolutely first-class service from the hotel service, going above and beyond to make the hotel guests’ experiences smooth and very enjoyable. I love that the location was not in the crowded city centre, so the nights are extremely quiet for rest. Yet, the hotel is also not too far from the city centre and all major attractions. I have recommended the Baber Mahal Vila Hotel to all who would listen.

Breakfast: The choice was good. The staff were smiley and at hand to help. Everything was freshly prepared and just what we wanted.
The room was upgraded to a suite and it was simply wonderful. Decorated in traditional style with lovely 'objets d'art'.
The complex is fascinating to walk around with a good choice of restaurants (4) and shops of all sorts.
The spa is very pleasant and the massage was exceptional.
I got very lost in the complex. I had to go out to the restaurants etc with someone else as there are no signs to anything. When I asked the way, shopkeepers were unable to tell me the way to the bar, reception etc. as the restaurants and shops are not part of the hotel. Hotel staff, however, were always helpful. For people like me, a map of the whole place would be helpful.

Such a tranquil and luxury hotel in the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu - can highly recommend - and enjoyed the associated courtyards, restaurants, galleries and shops that secluded, high end and accessible from the hotel
