This is a wonderful place—beautiful and historic, with absolutely lovely gardens. And the staff were outstanding—attentive, helpful, and knowledgeable. Can’t wait to come back!

Everything, we stayed for my wife's birthday 🎂 overnight and the upgraded our room to a suite.
Fantastic room very comfortable bed 🛌. So quiet and peaceful. This was our 4th visit to Middlethorpe looking forward to returning soon.

Everything! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, the hotel was immaculate and the food for breakfast and the evening meal was fantastic. Very close to the city centre so we could walk in. We couldn't fault anything.

We arrived quite late in the evening. Despite the dining room being closed, we were generously provided with a full spread, including the most delicious onion soup, fresh sandwiches, salad, breads and beverages. All served in the beautiful library with elegance and formality. Now that’s truly exceptional! Our breakfast was equally well done. The house is grand and the gardens divine. Would return in a heartbeat.

Beautifully maintained country home, attention to detail to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Warm, welcoming and professional staff, excellent food and service. Nice spa facilities, beautiful grounds and garden - perfection all round. And of course all profits go back to the National Trust.

The bed was very uncomfortable, the quilt was a blanket and a small quilt, need to invest in a quilt and cover to fit the two beds that make the large double bed!!

Lovely suite which we were upgraded to. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful house and grounds.
The only small negative was the fact that the pool is in a separate building which is not great when it's winter and cold outside but I appreciate that it would be difficult to locate elsewhere due to the historic nature of the hotel.

Fabulous hotel with lots of period furniture . The room was fabulous with a separate lounge. What made the stay exceptional was the staff, they were brilliant. Polite, attentive and would do anything to help. The hotel is only a short taxi drive away from York city centre but there is a bus stop nearby. Food both in the restaurant and at breakfast was very good.

This is by far the best hotel I have ever stayed in. It is stunning. The staff were incredible, welcoming, friendly and faultlessly professional. They honestly couldn’t do enough to make sure you were happy. In these difficult times. Thank you to all.The hotel has magnificent grounds and views were delightful.

Exceptional personal service. Friendly knowledgeable staff - nothing is too much trouble. They had also upgraded us to a suite and champagne for our silver wedding anniversary

A fantastic Hotel. Traditional, elegant Hall in stunning grounds. Staff couldn't be faulted, courteous, helpful and efficient. The suite we stayed in was an upgrade as it was our wedding anniversary. Breakfasts were freshly cooked and quality ingredients. The grounds of the Hotel are stunning and interesting. Looking forward to returning at some point.
