A propos de ce maisonrental
Spiti Stelios Restored Traditional House with Breathtaking Sunset Views

My family and me stayed at Spiti Stelios for one week, the owner checked everything for us, transfer to the house, car for the week which was brought, the fridge was filled with the basics including wine...the house was just perfect for us, we enjoyed having breakfast outdoor, the sunset on the terrace, bed- and bathrooms where very clean and comfortable. The location of the house is perfect, view to both sides the caldera and the open sea, an area where it is quiet and calm but only a few minutes away from some of the best restaurants on the island. We will come again.

We stayed at Caroline’s place in June during a heat wave and found it a cool and wonderful retreat during our weeklong stay on Santorini! I cannot understate how beautiful this place is! It is beautifully appointed and has everything you need and so many unique features that make it feel authentic and special. We had lots of space for our group of four to relax together and have time on our own.
I loved the location in the quiet village and we had excellent food and coffee everywhere we went and only a short walk away.
I would note that though I was warned I didn’t fully understand that you cannot drive to the place, you park and walk uphill about 6 minutes into the area of the village only accessible by foot or donkey. This created a challenge for the fifth member of our party who uses a wheelchair. The host dropped everything to help us solve this issue, finding an affordable single room near by.
Very special place with amazing hosts that go above and beyond.

We just spent eight wonderful days in Pyrgos at Spiti Stelio’s.
The villa is amazing and within easy walking distance to six wonderful restaurants/Tavernas
Both Caroline and Ester were amazing and responded immediately to our questions.
We would definitely recommend staying here and we would love to return in the future.

The cave house and its amenities were amazing!! The sunsets and sunrises were both beautiful from the roof top patio. I would most definitely stay here again, especially if you like to cook while you’re traveling like I do. The kitchen was very well stocked!

From the get go, this was an awesome experience. Communication with the owner gave us guidance on transfers to and from airport. Ester, our contact on site, was wonderful, she helped us with everything, she had wine, eggs, bead and stuff waiting for us in the home. She assisted in getting us taxis to and from places, she went above and beyond what we expected! I highly recommend this place, it's perfect, from rooftop views, location to Pyrgos village (which is great and less tourists than Fira and Oia)...will definitely come back here. Thank you for a memorable experience.

We stayed at Spiti_Stelios last September and were so captivated by the house, the island, the hospitality and the attentiveness of the hosts, we had to return. This time, for 2 weeks! And once again, we had the experience of a lifetime. We sailed the Caldera with Vista Yachting (twice!) we explored the Akrotiri ruins, the tomato museum, several wineries including Gaia, Estate Argyos, the art museum and more. We dined at Metaxi Mas which was one of the highlights of the trip and visited our friends (servers) at Kantouni in the Pygros village square several times. They greeted us fondly and we felt as if we’d been reunited with family. Additional dining delights included Agaze, Mythos and of course beach side dining in Kamari. These wonderful island experiences are only amplified by the beautifully appointed Spiti Stelios and the truly exceptional hospitality that Ester, Caroline and Stelios provide. I feel so lucky to have found this gem of a home to share with friends and family. And we are counting the days until we return next year! When you find a place this special… that can be the only plan. ❤️

Spiti Stelios was the perfect holiday home for us. It is well equipped and very comfortable. The house has been built in a traditional design giving it a historical ethos but with modern conveniences. The roof terrace gives sensational views across Santorini and beyond. Carolyn and Ester were fantastic hosts making sure we had everything we needed and more. We had a wonderful 2 weeks in Santorini and in particular loved Pyrgos. I would thoroughly recommend Spiti Stelios and would like to thank Carolyn, Stelios and Ester for their kindness and attention.

We spent a week in Santorini and drove all around the island, and without a doubt I would choose to stay in Pyrgos at Spiti Stelios again! The location is really central to everything on the island, and with the elevation of the town, you have a 360 view of the island. From the rooftop deck, you can see both the Caldera side and the Seaside at the same time, making for fantastic sunset and sunrise views. The house itself is beyond charming, with cool nooks and comfortable bedrooms, a very nicely stocked kitchen with full size fridge, and everything you can think of to make your stay comfortable. The separate suite is downstairs and accessible by the back gate or through the larger bedroom. My teenage son stayed in that room and loved having his personal "cave." The front courtyard is a great place to gather for meals or for kids to play (with supervision, as steps to rooftop are in courtyard). It is a short walk into the charming town of Pyrgos through winding lanes with stunning views at every turn. Once there, you find a variety of delicious restaurants and tavernas, lovely shops, and far less crowded than Oia or Fira. We recommend Cava Alta - truly delicious! We also had the most delicious affogato at Kasteli. And morning coffees at Penelope's were delightful! We can't say enough good things about Ester and Caroline who had amazing communication all through, and Ester provided concierge service, even bringing breakfast ingredients for us on the first day! Thank you both!

It was a pleasure staying at Caroline and Stelios’s house. From being met by their friend Esther and being shown around the property to the welcome pack of food and enough bottled water to last all week to the comfortable beds and lounge it was like staying in a home from home.
Caroline checked regularly that everything was okay and Esther met us on our final day to collect the keys.
The only negative was that the listing states that there are 3 bathrooms but there are only two (unless you count the outside shower).

I’m not often lost for words, but this home, these hosts, this location and this Island was so special I find it hard to express just how special. I had booked this in February and as we neared September and anticipation built, I hoped the property would be everything it seemed to be. But in fact, it was so much more. Ester greeted us promptly at 4:00, walked us through this idyllic property and even set us up with local wine, butter eggs, bread, milk, orange juice and coffee! The house sits high up in Pyrgos and the views are truly spectacular from the roof deck where we spent many an evening sipping wine, eating bread, olive oil and feta. We dined in virtually every local restaurant in and around the village and returned to a couple within our week stay because we loved the servers and the food so much. We toured the wine museum, the black sand beaches, Fira, took a sail and swim to the hot springs and hiked the volcanic landscape, spent an afternoon in Oia and just immersed ourselves in this warm, welcoming island. Our hosts were extraordinary in terms of responding to any texts/questions. And communicated so seamlessly leading up to the trip so we could plan ahead in terms of activities and transportation.
Leaving was so hard and I can honestly say a piece of my heart is there, in that home, atop that gem of an island. And somehow, some way, I will get back to Spiti Stelios and Santorini. Thank you for the most magnificent experience and for helping me create such treasured memories with my daughter. I already miss it so.

This property is amazing. Lots of space for a family (or friends - I was traveling with family). The owners are incredibly responsive and helpful. They even helped us order dinner on our first night since it was a long day of travel! The house is pristine and convenient to many areas in town. You can walk to many restaurants tucked into the narrow streets, and you can even walk down to the square for more food, a pharmacy, and so on. The views from the terrace are amazing, and there is always some business that sets off fireworks around 9 pm, which are clearly visible from the terrace.
The beds are extremely comfortable, and the sheets are really nice cotton. The pillows are divine. I mention this because I feel comfortable beds and bedding are important.

Wonderful Home in Lovely and Sedate Pyrgos
As mentioned in the title, this is a wonderful property and the town was exactly what my wife and I were looking for in our Greece vacation. The town of Pyrgos is charming, and the sunsets are astounding. The home met all of our needs. It was well appointed, and we were comfortable from the moment we arrived. Caroline and Stelios, the owners, and Ester, their friend and our local contact, were always available to answer any questions. They were accommodating and flexible and incredibly kind and gracious. Ester provided recommendations for places to visit and see, and to eat. She made reservations for us at an Amoudi Bay restaurant which was phenomenal (Katina’s Fish House). The house is exactly as it appears in the pictures. It is a traditional Santorinian home. The outdoor space is exceptional, and we found ourselves enjoying a glass of wine on the rooftop every evening. The view from the courtyard, out the front door is simply stunning. You can see nearly the entirety of the island from there, or mere steps outside the property. The views include Fira and Oia. We could not more highly recommend this property.
Thank you Caroline, Stelios, and Ester!

A Santorini dream come true!
Spiti Stelios combines the setting and structure of a traditional Greek island experience with the modern convenience and location that makes vacationing there easy and fun! It's a beautiful house that has been restored with loving care, using traditional craftsmanship and materials. And the views are incredible!!!
The location, in Pyrgos, is truly magical--it's high up, so you can see for miles across the caldera and the rest of the island. There's a rooftop patio, perfect for watching sunsets in comfort! You're close to beaches, but there is so much to see and do in Pyrgos itself, that you may have to tear yourself away--plenty of delightful restaurants as well.
My family had a vacation experience at Spiti Stelios that we will always remember with joy and affection! We especially appreciated how helpful the house management team was--they were always available with advice for sight-seeing and tips on feeling at home in Santorini!

Lovely house, lovely village, lovely island
We are a group of 4 friends with a lot of greek holydays experiences. By far, this one was the best. Everything was amazing: the island, the Pyrgos village and, of course, the beautiful, cozy Spiti Stelios Villa.
Owner Caroline and house manager Ester were amazing, everything was planned and prepared to the last detail, starting with all necessary infos and notifications, till the house preparation. One can find in the house everything might need, for anything might need. No matter if you want to stay inside, to eat outside, to be lazy, to sleep, to watch movies, to cook or to loose yourself in the beautiful view from the roof terrace. The house is beautiful and cleanliness is spotless. Also it is surprising because of its original traditional architecture. And it is so well redesigned, one can see the huge work behind this wonderful project.
And the roof top view, either day or night, is really breathtaking.
In conclusion: this is the place for an exceptional holyday.
Thank you Caroline, Thank you Ester!

Beautiful traditional property, great views, well equipped
We booked Spiti Stelios for a family holiday with friends. We wanted easy access to all that Santorini had to offer whilst having space, quiet and great views to the caldera. The house didn’t disappoint. It is well designed and equipped, pleasing to live in and with plenty of space for 6 people. We used the courtyard for our meals and the roof for the sunsets and early morning yoga. All was professionally handled and we felt warmly welcomed.

Little piece of Heaven on Earth
I don’t usually give reviews but must for our stay in Santorini. I had been in Santorini nearly 30 years ago and knew travelling with my husband and 2x 20 year old kids that we didn’t want to stay in Oia or Thira so I researched accommodation in Pyrgos.
After many hours I found this villa and from the time of the booking the owner Caroline was so helpful even helped organise our hire car. We were greeted at the villa on arrival by Ester the house manager. She brought fresh bread, butter, honey etc such a lovely gesture and fully explained the villa.
The villa is amazing just like the pictures and you get a real taste for living in a traditional Greek house. The furniture and linen is top quality. You can sit on the top deck and watch the sunset every day without having to go anywhere.
The village of Pyrgos is small and quaint and has a lot of cute restaurants and within walking distance. There is a bus that leaves from the bottom of the hill to take you to Thira and Oia if you don’t have a car. There is a steep climb to get to the villa so if you have knee issues worth considering.
All in all if you are looking for a traditional Greek experience look no further than this Villa it is perfect!!

Amazing Villa!
Our stay at Spiti Stelios was perfect! Our hosts Caroline and local friend Ester were wonderful and accommodating. We traveled with family and even a toddler. Caroline made sure that we had everything that we needed and then some! The villa was spotless and larger than we anticipated. Sitting on the rooftop and watching the sunset was breathtaking! The little town square that we could walk to for meals was fun and relaxing. We would definitely like to go back. We would highly recommend this villa to anyone visiting Santorini!

Friendly and helpful welcome to a characterful holiday home.
Welcome upon arrival appreciated. The house is characterful, clean and well equipped with glorious views from the roof terrace. The village of Pyrgos is a welcome tranquil village to return to in the evenings, in comparison to the towns of Firá and Olia!

Sehr empfehlenswerte Unterkunft in ruhiger Lage

Beautifully restored traditonal style cave house in a charming village with walkable shops/tavernas.
I stayed at this property with my 2 sisters and brother for 1 week in late June '17. It was the 30th anniversary of our mother's death and we wanted some space and time to be together, relax, have fun, talk. Spiti Stelios was the perfect villa for us. Immediately we felt at home -there were all the modern facilities we needed mixed with lovely traditional features. The villa is situated in a gorgeous old village in the centre of Santorini so great for access to the rest of the island. It is on a hillside so there are amazing views from both the villa and the local tavernas and restaurants. We were looked after extremely well-all our questions answered promptly and requests met. We couldn't have had a more perfect venue for our holiday. Thank you.

Holiday heaven
From the moment we booked we knew we had made the right choice. Carolyn could not have been more helpful with any of the questions regarding our stay. When we arrived everything lived up to our expectations. The villa is just as it is in the photos. A beautifully restored winery with amazing roof top views. The villa is finished to a high standard but remains a homely feel. By the time we ended our 2 week holiday we really felt like this was home. Everything from the comfortable beds, good linen (changed during our stay) the well equiped kitchen and the perfect setting. In our opinion Pyrgos was the best location on the island - still retaining the traditional peace of a village but with great bars and restaurants and of course views. We honestly could not find fault. A fantastic place to stay and make memories on this beautiful island. Our family would like to thank Carolyn for allowing us to share in their wonderful villa.

A home from home with views to die for!
We stayed a week at spiti stelios at the end of August 2016 and had the most wonderful time.
Sat Nav will only work to get you to Pyrgos Village but we managed to find the house with no problems as the instructions (with pictures) were perfect!
Be aware that there is a 5 minute walk up a steep incline from where you leave the car to the house.
The house itself is absolutely gorgeous, it has been renovated to an excellent standard but still feels like a traditional Greek home. It is spacious and full of quirky features like the see through floor cover in part of the lounge which allows you to see into the original storage area for wine making! Fab!
It is just a short walk into Pyrgos village square where there are several lovely tavernas and restaurants to chose from and there are plenty more scattered around the hills of Pyrgos all within walking distance of the house.
My favourite part of this property is the private roof terrace where you can sunbathe or sit and enjoy the sun (or sit in the shaded area if you would prefer!) and enjoy the the most breathtaking views of the island!!! If you read the guide books they will all recommend a trip to Pyrgos for the best views of the island and you have all of this without leaving your house!
On our day of arrival Ester met us to show us around the house and also sat with us to answer any questions we had about the island, things to do and excursions, she was super helpful and I felt that this service was such a lovely touch and like having a local friend you could contact with any questions you have.
I can't recommend this place enough! We hope to return again in the future!
Thanks

Very nice indeed! Definately recommend
A lovely property in the true traditional Santorini style with all the comforts you would expect. Pyrgos itself is a fabulous village, as it away from the "madding crowds" of Oia and Thira, which can get a bit much. Its a really pretty village, some lovely restaurants and fascinating to explore. Well postioned to easily access any part of the Island and with a view over the Caldera the infamous Santorini sunsets are a treat from the terrace of Spiti Stelios!

Beautiful Holiday Home
The villa is well equipped, spacious and well looked after. The views from the roof terrace are stunning.
It is a very short walk to the centre of the village including restaurants and shops. We spent the first day exploring the small streets where there was something new to find at each corner.
A car is required but the villa is very central to the island so other places are very easy to get to. The longest journey was around 25 mins to Oia.
Caroline was very helpful throughout booking and our visit. The process was very easy and simple.
Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful villa. Santorini was stunning and I can't wait to return. We will definately recommend the villa to others and hopefully will return ourselves soon.

Home is where the heart is
Four of us travelled to Greece in September this year and stayed at the lovely and original Spiti Stelios. Pyrgos is a quaint little village, perched majestically on one of the highest topographical hilltops on Santorini. A cascade of white houses dotted the landscape almost in a spiral. This fact should have alerted us to the fact that our jaunt from the parking space to the house would have been a bit of a challenge!! Especially with our heavy luggage, silly us...
Spiti Stelios was a gem of a place to stay. Caroline and Stelios have renovated and created a relaxing atmosphere in their villa. It is traditionally decorated in every detail. And it was evident that it was a labour of love..The courtyard off of the kitchen was our favourite place to eat our breakfasts and dinners. And the lounge area up on the top landing was a refuge to have a glass of wine and cool down in the evening. It is the perfect spot from which to absorb the sunset...a much quieter place to watch it as opposed to the busy and crowded Oia.
The loo with a view was indeed so, donkeys and pedestrians both sauntering past the window. The kitchen was very well equipped and the big frig was a bonus as we ate in a lot. There is a charcoal BBQ which we used often...(there is a fish monger a few minutes from the villa). The bedrooms were beautifully done up and we loved the little snug area. It was very hot during our stay, sometimes making sleep a little difficult, but we managed.
The streets that surround Pyrgos where winding and quaint, always something new to see and the view as you can imagine from that vantage point was amazing! There are some nice restaurants locally as well, and bakery's and grocery stores here and there, with larger ones in the next village, a stones throw away. Lest we forget all of the beaches we visited...Santorini is the perfect sized island to explore..
Regina was very helpful, as were Caroline and Stelios who answered all of our queries promptly and expertly. They were the perfect hosts, considerate and thoughtful...to the point of leaving us some delicious libation...I only wish I had tried the Vinssanto earlier... Thank you Caroline and Stelios for all of your help with the ferries, car company and various other things. You have a real gem of a place and we just loved it!! Kindest regards Anne Marie and Dennis from Canada....xo

Magnifique!

Merci Caroline. J'espère que nous reviendrons.

A charming and quite paradise ...
Spiti Stelios, in the beautiful and picturesque village of Pyrgos, was for us the warm base of an unforgettable holiday in Santorini.
The quiet house, nicely furnished, clean, renovated in keeping with its unique and ancient architecture, equipped with all the amenities, gave us moments of rest, views and memorable sunsets over the Caldera from its beautiful terrace.
Comfortable and comfy, the house sits in a central location, thereby making it easy to reach all the places to visit. The car is recommended, although fortunately the cars are not allowed in the village.
On the spot we were given tips and maps to let us know places, points of interest, excursions and walks (i.e. the beautiful ancient Thira), and of course good taverns and restaurants.
So we feel to recommend this house to those who want a quiet and charming place to discover the beauty and serenity that are hidden in this so unique island.
A very desirable "See you soon" and many thanks to Regina (our local contact) for her help and for her warm welcome and to the owner Carolina (she is very kind and attentive) who always followed us from far away.

Outstanding little house in Pyrgos village
We are two couples who travelled from the UK and USA to meet and spend a week together on the island of Santorini, where we stayed at Spiti Stelios. The little house is located in a unique location in the picturesque medieval village of Pyrgos. The property has been beautifully restored and tastefully decorated in an authentic Greek style by its charming owners Caroline and Stelios.
The house is nestled into the hillside beneath the ruins of a Venetian Castle. You can expect a short walk to the house up a hill and along a stepped path that leads around the hillside to the house. However, it is very manageable and highly worth the walk, as once you are at the property you will have breathtaking views across the island over the caldera towards Fira and Oia.
Spiti Stelios is definitely a very comfortable little house to relax, unwind and enjoy your stay in spectacular surroundings with many home comforts provided, as well as good kitchen facilities if you want to eat in. From the rooftop terrace there are unparallel views over the island, in the evening you can sit on the roof with a glass of wine to see the amazing sunsets.
Prior to our vacation to Spiti Stelios, the owners Caroline and Stelios where more than forthcoming with help and assistance about our trip and stay their property. Caroline was very helpful and also gave us very detailed advice and information regarding local markets and supermarkets nearby, restaurants, wineries and micro brewery to visit, car hire and help with ordering taxi services to the airport. On arrival at Pyrgos we were met promptly by Regina (who is Caroline’s main contact on the island) to hand over keys etc, the house was spotlessly clean and very well maintained.
To summarise, we were extremely happy with the high standard of the accommodation, as well as excellent facilities provided at the house. We would highly recommend a stay at this property, but suggest that you follow the Homeaway site instructions and do call the lovely Caroline prior to making your booking.

Perfectly restored Pyrgos Gem
Our week in Spiti Stelios was perfect in every way. The house is sensitively restored and well equipped. Spectacular views - day and night - made the inside-outside living a bonus. Easy access to to restaurants, mini markets and transport pick-up points made this the perfect base from which to explore the rest of Santorini.
Booking procedures worked well. Hosting by Regina was well done and she was available to answer all questions and assist where necessary.
