Friendly staff. Relaxed atmosphere. Dinner was fresh and delicious. We stayed in one of the cottages away from the main area. Though private, they do face one another. Cottages have mirror glass, but unsure how private that is. Good water pressure from the shower. Firm but comfortable bed. Clean though the facilities are aged.

Great dinner in restaurant. The folks were excellent in providing lots of chippies even though kitchen was closed at our time of arrival having just got off the Heaphy Track. The cabin was bliss.

One light didn’t work

Lovely quiet place, clean and tidy, good food.

Room was very hot, there were windows to open but no breeze and when asked if they had a fan they said no but we need to buy some, they had 2 in the bar area but we didn't get offered one for the room which would've been nice once they finished with it.

Dinner was very good

Fantastic Christmas dinner

The room was large enough for us 3 and the dog. food was very nice at the restaurant and good value. Close to the river and shops. easy to get around to the multiple track and place of interest. Place was easy to find on the main rd.

The fridge was in a very awkward place and not very easy to get stuff out of it just on the corner of the kitchenette. smoke alarm was removed and not replaced? this is part of a fire safety.

Situated in the middle of Karamea. The place was nice and relaxed and has everything you require for a short stay. The staff were really friendly.

If you like native timber you will like this place. A building that could not be replicated these days with extensive use of native timber throughout the complex. We enjoyed a nice meal and a few drinks at the bar with a good atmosphere. Our room was a good size.

The rooms did have very poor sound proofing from our neighbouring room which could be an issue if you or your neighbour were noisy

Nice location. Beautiful day walks. We enjoyed the living room/kitchen area to relax and cook (see issues with these though) The clean towels, free shampoo and soap in the showers were a wonderful bonus. Emilie is a very friendly staff member. They were very kind to change our dates of stay twice before we arrived.

Unfortunately the kitchen was not very well stocked e.g no cheese grater, peeler, wineglasses, cutting board, microwave bowl etc. Very few cereal bowls and big plates and limited cutlery. They were happy to lend us a grater from the restaurant when we brought it under their attention. Twice, but they asked us to bring it back everytime. A bit of an inconvenience for guests. We found the fridge small for all the guests it is supposed to service. Also, the rusted kitchen sink tap was broken off and they didn't seem to be in a rush to properly fix it. After they fixed iit with tape it was just broken off again the next morning when we entered the kitchen area. We heard other guests complain about all of this too sadly. It has the potential to be a great kitchen area for the backpackers coming through. The backpackers area felt a bit like the 'stepchild' of this lovely property. We still very much enjoyed our atay and would proobably stay there again in the future, if we ever head that way again.

The bed was very comfortable, nice bedding. Roomy shower. Everything we needed expect a cook-top, but we were able to pop over to the Back Packers kitchen to cook a meal. Staff were very helpful. The restaurant had amazing food. We really enjoyed our night out at the restaurant, they also had a pool table, TV and the atmosphere was friendly.

Rich history and the host made me feel welcome and shared a lot of insights into the local area and culture. A peaceful place to lay one’s head.

Owners were friendly . Price is competitive.

Always enjoy staying at the Last Resort, it's a genuine icon, real local hospitality and comfy facilities supported by great staff.

These friendly people really know their stuff, I'll be rebooking without even looking elsewhere
