Gorgeous boutique hotel right in a great central location, quiet but close to all the sights. Very helpful, friendly and thoughtful staff. Good restaurant on site. The room was gorgeous.

A small niggle in an otherwise perfect stay, but unfortunately the air conditioning wasn't activated when we visited and as our room was above the kitchen it was rather hot. Opening the windows meant we got cooking smells and kitchen noises and communications wafting into our room.

Our room was very large and the hotel is located in a quieter part of Lucca, but within five minutes walk of the busy shopping area with the bars and market in the square. Staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel restaurant was really very good, and inexpensive. And they make a fabulous Aperol Spritz

Given a lovely room upgrade as compensation for no kitchen or bar during our stay. Good sized bathroom with good strong shower. Nice Bath robes and very comfortable bed. Smart, good quality furnishings throughout.

Full payment was taken (and non-cancellable) 14 March. We were informed 15 March (5 days before our arrival) that there was no kitchen/restaurant, therefore breakfast in small local cafe instead. This was coffee & pastries .NOT 4* equivalent. No fruit/yoghurt/fresh fruit juice/cooked food or spacious surroundings. Also no bar, outdoor space to relax or mix with other guests. No other guests for 4 out of 5 days -so no ambiance/atmosphere or 4* facilities we were looking forward to. No tea/coffee/snacks available unlike Hotel Ilaria nearby which had a lot more guests and also offered complimentary snacks & drinks etc.

Everything was to our liking

The best thing is the location. It is right in the heart of the walled town, making everywhere accessible within a short walk. The location is also quiet and secluded, so no traffic noise.

I think the price is a bit high for a hotel that has limited facilities. There is a lounge, but it is small and got smaller when tables were set up in it for the restaurant a couple of times. There were racks for newspapers, but no newspapers appeared. All the journals set out in the lounge, were just advertising material dressed up as magazines. Although I asked twice if there were English language channels on the TV, I never got a satisfactory response and so we didn't have any English language channels. The small bedroom had a desk, but no chair, until we asked for one, and there were no facilities provided in the room for making hot drinks; kettle, tea bags etc. The room also contained no welcome information, apart from a breakfast menu. So, nothing on facilities, attractions, no map of the town etc.
