Romantic Hideaway - Caribbean-styled cottage in lush tropical gardens
This cottage was amazing. I got everything I was looking for out of this trip. The lovely garden and pool were an added bonus. Sarah is wonderful and I’m so glad I stayed with her.
The bed was great. Having a kitchen to make my own food was great. I feel like I’m part of a secret society that knows and have stayed here.
I met some folks staying at a local chain all inclusive and they spent over 7k. They stayed one day longer than I stayed in Antigua. I didn’t pay anything close to that.
I enjoyed everything about the cottage and will be back. Thank you to everyone that made my stay restful and rejuvenating.
I arranged some tours through Expedia and did a google search for another excursion. I did not rent a car. I don’t trust myself driving on the opposite side of the road. I did not have any problems using a driver.
Have a wonderful time. Book this place! You will not regret it. If peace and quiet is what you’re looking for- look no further!

Driftwood Cottage provided the perfect Caribbean escape. Set behind a lovely pool in Sarah's magical garden, the rustic cottage is truly a departure from the usual day-to-day. Sleeping under netting in the beautiful antique bed and listening to the birds and frogs gave us a true taste of island life. Sarah shared stories from her many years on Antigua and provided many recommendations for our stay. We loved setting out each day to explore the island then returning to our little piece of paradise at day's end.
Thank you for a wonderful stay! We hope to return!

This is a lovely guest house and pool on Sarah's property. It is authentic Antigua charm with a basic but fulsome kitchen, inside/outside living, and sleeping in an antique bed with mosquito netting. The area is quiet and the nearby beach lovely.

This is such a wonderful cottage with an awesome pool. Sarah is the perfect hostess offering fantastic recommendations about the island. I liked the location in regard to finding food whether it's the great grocery store, superb restaurants and even delicious road stands. Since there are 365 beaches in Antigua and it only takes 40 minutes to go from one end to the other - you can easily explore a new beach every day.

Go for a luxurious swim. Sunbathe. Swim. Walk the gardens. Grill some dinner. Swim again. Life at Driftwood Cottage is simple!
We took each day slowly while staying at Sarah's cottage and still our trip passed so quickly, our singular complaint is that we couldn't move in permanently. The cottage is beautiful, private, and peaceful. The neighborhood of Hodges Bay is conveniently located relative to St. John's, the airport, and the main roads to get anywhere on the island quickly and easily.
Sarah was so responsive and we really enjoyed our little chat with her. She has a wealth of information about where to go, about the island itself, and lovely stories of her time in Antigua.
We would recommend Driftwood Cottage to anyone looking for an exceptionally calm, secluded spot that's not too far from anything.

Sarah was a super host, very knowledgeable of the island and helpful in every way. If you are at one with nature you will certainly enjoy the peace and tranquillity of bird song during the daylight hours followed by treefrogs and crickets in the evening.
The pool is perfect and Sarah's garden is a delight of form and colour illustrating over forty years of planting. For those wishing to explore the island I would recommend car hire that Sarah is able to assist with. Additionally, if you seek to self cater there is a first class supermarket a short drive away. For my wife and I staying at Driftwood Cottage was one of the most relaxing holidays we have ever encountered. All in all a delightful experience.

This lovely open air bungalow is surrounded by trees and gardens in a large private yard offering a relaxing stroll. Stepping out onto the veranda one finds a comfortable dining table overlooking the beautiful large pool and poolside area just steps away. Sarah Fuller, the owner, is wonderful to talk to and full of information having lived on the island for over forty years. She takes a genuine interest in her guests and their wants and needs. The property is a short drive from several excellent restaurants and walking distance to one. We left knowing we have a new friend on Antigua! We look forward to visiting again.

We had a most wonderful week at Driftwood Cottage . Sarah was an attentive host full of useful information about the island and even arranged for an experienced sailing friend to visit and give us first hand recommendations for our sailing trip the following week . The cottage was just what we hoped it would be - a traditional building which had previously been a schoolhouse . We slept soundly in the enormous bed listening to the sounds of the night (tree frogs, wind , early morning birdsong) and waking to the sunrise . The pool and gardens were a delight , the pool wonderful for a swim or just to cool off and the gardens so mature , colourful , tropical . We hired a car and enjoyed exploring Antigua - easy to get around and lots to see . We loved Cecilia’s for dinner great food and ambience and also Casa Roots for lunch - what a location . We couldn’t have asked for more . Thank you Sarah

Sarah's cottage is terrific in every way. Well appointed, comfortable and everything you might need whether you plan to lounge by the lovely pool in her superb garden or get out and explore Antigua's amazing beaches. Sarah is a wonderful host who knows everything about the area - you can rely on her recommendations. There are a number of cracking restaurants within 10 - 15mins. Casa Roots and Cecilias get a special mention. Thank you Sarah 😊

We sadly just left Antigua and Sarah's little piece of paradise. Such a relaxing place to unwind after a day of exploring or for morning coffee before a day of exploring!! The front porch and pool setting are amazing. Inside is everything you will need in the kitchen and the bathroom and the bed is a very comfortable King bed. We did a lot of exploring of this beautiful island and Sarah's insight was priceless. She recommended a lot of beautiful beaches and lots of restaurants that we took advantage of. It's a good location out of the business of the city and close enough to everything. You are never more than 40 minutes from anything on the island. I would recommend renting a car if you want to see everything this beautiful island has to offer or you could just stay at the pool which is incredibly peaceful and relaxing. Very thankful for finding this place and thankful Sarah was such a gracious and informative host!

This gorgeous traditional Antiguan cottage is full of character and was exactly our style. It is located on the north shore in Hodges Bay and is tucked away in a idyllic tropical garden tended by the wonderful on-site host Sarah Fuller. You will feel as though you are in a private tropical oasis surrounded by palm trees, flowers and a beautiful private pool. You will have to share the oasis however, with adorable bananaquit birds and little geckos by day, and you will be lulled to sleep to the sounds of the waves and tree frogs at night.
The cottage is open concept in the truest sense, with high ceilings and open windows and doors that can be shuttered, but why bother? The beautiful four poster king bed is the centrepiece of one side, with the well stocked kitchen and sitting area on the other. The outdoor living area starts with a great large wraparound porch with loungers, dining table, and a perfect clothesline to take advantage of the tropical breeze. The ambiance inside and out is beautifully enhanced at night by Sarah’s handmade terra cotta light shades, and the stone pool deck and

Driftwood Cottage reminds one of Caribbean cottages of the past: wooden rather than concrete, where all the living happens outside. There is a spacious verandah on two sides of the cottage, where one can recline in the shade, enjoy one’s breakfast or an afternoon drink, amidst the quiet peaceful park-like setting. Sarah is an exceptional host, supportive, knowledgeable and helpful. Her enthusiasm for gardening has made this a tropical paradise – indeed, one hesitates to leave the property, so appealing is the environment. A perfect place to relax and unwind. Having discovered this cottage, we are already dreaming of returning again soon.

Sarah is such a nice host who made sure our vacation was pleasurable. The open air cottage was lovely and the grounds were beautiful, filled with a variety of tropical plants. Pool was refreshing and the king bed was luxurious. Location was very convenient to the airport. And the island is so small that we were able to easily travel to anywhere on the island with our rental car. If we visit Antigua again, we would stay here!

Absolutely loved every moment of this secret escape, the property is a cute, rustic cottage with the most amazing pool set in stunning gardens. It was truly the most relaxing holiday, embracing indoor and outdoor living. The property is open plan with a wrap around veranda, multiple seating and lounging areas. It has everything you could possibly need for self catering, including gas BBQ. The property is in a great location with a fine dining restaurant less than 5 minutes walk, and a amazing steak house “ Gather” and “ Garden Grill” a short 5 minute drive away, we enjoyed fantastic meals and romantic lunches. It was a very short walk to beautiful beaches, local store and restaurants.
I can honestly say this was the most relaxing holiday we have ever experienced, making the most of the tranquil surroundings and huge pool. We received the warmest welcome from the host, Sarah is an amazingly talented, big hearted lady, with a passion for creativity and art. This is evident in her hand made sculpture and pottery designs display around the property.
I honestly felt emotional leaving as it felt like a home from home. It was truly a secret escape and I wasn’t ready to leave after almost two weeks. I was grateful the we didn’t go to one of the big resorts and we discovered this little gem. We definitely be back!
Thank you Sarah, you are truly an inspiring, fun-loving, incredible lady and it has been your pleasure to meet you and family xx

Paradise
We had a wonderful stay at Sarah's property, she was a truly excellent host. Walking distance to a shop and local takeaway which served great food. The pool area was beautiful and it was so lovely to stargaze of an evening. You are within walking distance to Jabberwock beach but the beautiful beach of Dickenson Bay is just a 10 minute drive away. We would love to return one day, thank you for a lovely relaxing trip!

May 2022 stay
What a wonderful, tranquil, beautiful little corner of this amazing island. Driftwood Cottage is absolutely the ideal place to stay for a couple looking to get away from it all, whilst being able to explore the whole island easily (car essential though - watch out for potholes!) The pool is glorious, the Cottage is cute and has everything you need, and the tropical gardens are like a tamed jungle with lots of humming birds, lizards, tree frogs and the owner’s stunning pieces of art (we even returned with one!). The owner, the gardener and the maid do everything they can to help - from restaurant, supermarket and beach recommendations, to helping with washing, drying and returning laundry - and someone is always on hand or nearby.
A truly amazing place to stay. Highly recommend it - we will return!

PARADISE, NATURE and TRANQUILITY for our Family
Myself, my husband and 5 year old son stayed in Sarah's beautiful Antigua cottage. It was the perfect stay for our family!! We were able to relax and reset from our crazy big city life. I can't say enough how nice the property was so here is a list for you some of the highlights we had: our own private pool for swimming, the cottage is 5 min walk to a beautiful beach, there is store 5 min walk if you need something, there is a rope swing (my son loved) in beautiful well-maintained garden, birds / lizards everywhere, woke up every morning to sounds of nature and birds singing, fresh island air flowing through cottage, little kitchenette where we had everything we needed to make meals or snacks, adult and kids board games to play, beautiful bathroom and great shower with strong flow of hot water, lots of clean towels and bedding was as nice as fancy hotel. For me cleanliness is so important and this place was spotless. The bed was very comfortable and my husband, myself and son slept very comfortably as it was a HUGE 4 poster canopy bed with very comfortable king size mattress. (just so you know Sarah has a pull out couch too, if you have a child, but my son likes sleeping with mommy) Sarah was always available to answer any questions but she also gave us privacy to enjoy our stay. She is a lovely person to chat with and after our visit we consider her a friend :) we will definitely be returning to her cottage on our next stay in Antigua!! :)

Doesn’t get better than this!
My boyfriend and I spent 5 days in this beautiful cottage and it exceeded all of our expectations. Sarah was an amazing host and was always accommodating and available to answer any of our questions. This unique stay is situated outside of the touristy area in St. John’s and is the perfect place to relax and be surrounded by nature. We will definitely be back!

Relaxing and comfortable cottage paradise
My husband and I honeymooned at Sarah's cottage and could not be any happier with our decision. The cottage is perfectly designed to take advantage of the climate. Open design with sea breeze, plenty of fans and a very well-constructed mosquito netting for the luxurious king size bed. We felt like we had entered our own little world every night when climbing into the canopy.
The pool is steps outside of the door and very private. The cottage is outfitted with everything a person could want, at least everything we could want, for our stay. Bonus, it's quite near the airport.
Sarah was a wonderful host, leaving us drinks and fruit, and offering anything else we could want. I believe she would give you the shirt off her own back if you asked. Sarah also made several restaurant suggestions that were, quite honestly, some of the best food we have ever eaten anywhere.
Antigua was such an easy trip. Anything we needed was easily acquired and everyone was very friendly and welcoming. We rented a car and had no problems going on adventures all over the island. If you're considering visiting Antigua I highly recommend Sarah's cottage.

Blue Heaven
We absolutely loved this cottage! It’s all true .... everything the previous guests say about it. Driftwood Cottage is a sweet historic building, lovingly decorated in Antiguan summer blue, with an elegant antique bed, handmade lamps and lots of nice touches such as fish soap-dishes. Even the crockery is arty!
You wake to the sun streaming in and the sound of birds all around you, with a view of leafy gardens and flowering trees, and your own swimming pool right there to jump into. The hosts are delightful, Antigua is great fun, the beaches are fabulous ... and we never wanted to leave!

A little piece of paradise!
We had a lovely 2 weeks staying in John and Sarah's little piece of paradise and echo the previous reviewers' positive comments. The cottage has all you need for your stay, and the large pool with its new comfortable loungers is the icing on the cake. Accessibility is good and renting a car gave us the flexibility to go out to explore, go to a beach or just get the supplies in. The dogs soon get to know you, initially at the smell of food...but soon end up spending their day with you snoozing on the porch. We are not dog owners, but they were the unexpected entertainment of our stay. Sarah and John are great hosts, checking in regularly to see that everything is okay but give you plenty of space to enjoy the peace and tranquility of their beautiful property. We plan to return!

Divine Driftwood!
This was a return visit and as I've said before it always feels like coming home. Everything about this cottage is stunning - the wrap around terrace which gives the cottage such a feeling of space, the incredible gardens, lovingly cared for and always something to wonder at (this year orchids growing from the palms!), the gorgeous hounds who are gentle and affectionate, the comfortable (enormous) bed from where you listen to the gentle song of birds in the morning, the welcoming pool (gorgeous to dip into when you want to cool down a little) and of course, the wonderful hosts, Sarah and John.
You know that these hosts really want you to enjoy your stay and they will do everything to ensure you have the best time. It never feels that you are bothering them if you need advice and they know the Island so well.
I warn you, it takes a good while to return to your normal routine on your return home as you will be sooooo relaxed! I can't wait until next year's visit!

Perfect holiday cottage
We booked Driftwood Cottage because of the wonderful reviews, and were not disappointed. They are all true! We spent hours watching the different birds feeding in the beautiful lush gardens which Sarah has created. She and John are charming hosts and are very helpful in everything from where to shop, booking restaurants and the best way to navigate the local roads.
We enjoyed our two weeks and will certainly return. A magical place.

This was a true oasis away from touristy hustle and bustle! The beautiful grounds, pool and cottage were perfect. The pool is beautiful and long enough to swim lengths. The grounds are lovely and large enough to roam and appreciate the nature and wildlife.John and Sarah were the perfect hosts, providing us with information but not the least bit intrusive. The cottage was very well equipped. The bed was comfortable, lots of hot water and facilities for cooking. We brought oatmeal and cans of salmon with us. Two very good grocery stores close by Epicurean and YPZ Trading. Food is very expensive on the Island but we cooked all of our meals at the cottage. If you eat local with rice, beans, chicken and fish it is not too outrageous. We enjoyed an excellent meal out at Le Bistro. John made reservations for us, which you definitely needed. Very good food!Thank you Sarah and John for a wonderful stay!

Perfect villa for a couple
We had a wonderful time at the villa and really enjoyed our stay. Everything you need for a relaxing and comfortable holiday is there. Sarah & John are perfect hosts with nothing being too much trouble. The only problem were the mozzies, but they come free with all Antiguan holidays and nothing that a good spray can't take care of! We'd recommend the villa to anyone. Steve & Marianne

Antiguan Paradise
We had a wonderful week staying at the cottage, and cannot recommend it highly enough.
The location was perfect for us - it's close to the airport (though we didn't see or hear one plane) and an ideal base from which to explore the island. It's a small island, so even the parts that are further away are still very accessible (care hire definitely recommended) and you can get a lot done in the day (if you are feeling energetic!). It's also extremely peaceful and the perfect place to relax an completely switch off with just the sounds of the wildlife for company.
The cottage is very well equipped - we cooked breakfast every day and had a couple of dinners there (there is a great supermarket 10-15 minutes away by car) but there are also plenty of dining options locally and slightly further afield, so you are never limited for choice. Bed is extremely comfortable and the cottage has a real feel of indoor/outdoor living, which we loved! We saw hummingbirds most mornings at breakfast and were often - very happily - joined by the hosts' extremely friendly dogs for some extra company. The pool area is fantastic - it's been redone recently and is a real selling point. We got a lot of use out of it - it gets the morning sun so we swam every morning before breakfast and also enjoyed a couple of lazy mornings reading and sunbathing, before going off in the afternoon to explore the beaches.
We cannot say enough good things about the hosts, Sarah and John. They invited us to join them at their family breakfast one morning, as well as joining us for drinks around the pool one evening. They were extremely helpful if we ever had any questions about the cottage or island and always popped their heads out to say 'hello' when we returned from a day or evening out, yet were also extremely respectful of our privacy. They were incredibly hospitable and really made the trip that bit better.
We met several other people on the trip who were staying at hotels and were so happy to have made the choice to stay at the cottage instead - it's private, peaceful, well located and a real tropical oasis. Sarah and John went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed, and could not have been better hosts. We cannot recommend it highly enough.

Magical Tropical Hideaway
I wake up this morning having to bid farewell to Antigua and all the wonderful, warm and kind hearted people. We have stayed at Sarah's Tropical cottage tucked in an oasis of lush green palm trees and singing birds. The large swimming pool is an absolute delight, tucked in between the lush thick garden of greenery. It is romantic, private and has a verandah that overlooks the pool. We have stayed for two weeks and was here when hurricaine Maria arrived. During the storm we were safely tucked away in the secure cottage and woke the next morning to singing birds. We will definitely be returning to this beautiful gem. If you are wanting to get away from the stress of things or maybe you want to be tucked away and write a book, this is the place to be without a doubt. The family who live in the main house Sarah and John Fuller are truly wonderful warm people who welcome you with open arms. They go out of their way to make sure you have a comfortable stay. Antigua was not devastated by hurricaine Maria so get your suitcase packing and enjoy the beauty of Antigua. There is so much to do and see. If you a lover of sailing, fishing, surfing, diving, walking, then hurry as that is waiting for you. I was blown away by the size of the avocado and the pineapple of which I would now rate the best I have ever had. If you are a health fanatic and need to eat Gluten free or vegan there is no problem in finding that at the local main store. I have had a VERY special experience in Antigua. Thank you and goodbye. Mac and Jen.

FANTASTIC!
A beautiful romantic cottage set in a lovely private garden, waking up every morning to the site of bougainvillea, humming birds, other exotic birds and a dazzling pool-what more could you want.
A short walk away is the fabulous Jabberwock beach although a car is really required to reach other parts of this beautiful island. If you don't want to visit local restaurants an evening spent on the cottage verandah with your caribbean cocktail and listening to the local wildlife all go to make the holiday complete. The extremely friendly hosts Sarah and John are always on hand to help if need and are a wealth of local information and history.
We cannot recommend this cottage more highly, and will certainly return sooner rather than later.

Romantic and relaxing get away
Let me begin by saying that I am one of those people who does a TON of research before selecting a travel destination. That being said, the natural, rustic beauty of Driftwood cottage well exceeded my expectations. It is hard for me to imagine that there is a more romantic place to stay in Antigua. The grounds are loving maintained and made us feel like we were in our own private Garden of Eden. The newly refinished pool was ideal for a cooling dip and provided my wife a great place to sit and enjoy a good book, coupled with adult beverages. The wrap-around porch was perfect for romantic candle-lit dinners or a relaxing nap in one of the loungers. The cottage was well appointed and had everything we needed to self-cater or spend the day at the beach. The King sized bed was firm and we slept incredibly well. The open air windows and ceiling fans kept the bugs at bay and the cottage cool and comfortable. The Wi-Fi was weak at times, but we managed. Our hosts, Sarah and John were warm, welcoming and beyond helpful when it came to planning our daytrips, arranging for a car rental and recommending local dining options. If we needed anything, they we very responsive and accommodating. They have several delightful dogs which kept us company and from missing ours at home.
I would recommend this cottage on the North side of the island as an excellent base for exploring this beautiful island. It’s a short drive to the airport, restaurants, St. John’s and The Epicurean grocery store which has everything you need. There are 365 beaches on the Island, we fell in love with secluded Half Moon bay which was a scenic half an hour drive away. We thoroughly enjoyed our week here and hope to return soon.

Tropical Oasis
This beautiful oasis located on tropical grounds in Hodges Bay was a slice of paradise for myself, my husband and our 4 year old. The cottage was such a lovely, peaceful place that quickly became our home away from home! The owners Sarah and John were so welcoming, with tons of great advise that helped guide our daily adventures around Antigua. Sarah and Johns friendly dogs were a very happy addition to our stay with visits that just delighted our daughter!! It is without any hesitation that I would recommend this wonderful place!

Paradise Found!
Having spent 3 weeks staying in Driftwood Cottage, over the Christmas and New Year period, we would recommend anyone looking for the perfect place to stay to look no further. The cottage itself is very pretty, with large folding doors opening onto a lovely terrace and swimming pool. What a delight to be able to leave these open at night, and wake to the sunshine streaming in. It is indeed idyllic.
Sarah and John, who own the cottage, were unbelievably kind to us, even inviting us to join the party on christmas Day! Always on hand with help and advice on the island, it felt like being part of an extended family. Which, of course, also has to include the dogs, who were never averse to a biscuit or three.
This is simply a beautiful place, and a wonderful base from which to explore the island. It is a taste of life as it should really be lived. We urge you to try it for yourself.

We were lucky enough to enjoy 9 days at the cottage and it exceeded our expectations. The cottage is charming, peaceful, and calming. Our sheets were changed 3 times in the 9 days we were there and fresh towels were dropped off as well. Although the pool is shared with the main house, our stay felt very private. However, if we felt like socializing or asking questions of any kind, Sarah and John were more than hospitable and friendly. Many times we just popped up to their house and had questions answered, a cocktail in hand, or a friendly and interesting conversation. Anyone who is considering a more authentic island experience, this is the place to stay. We rented a car and had a great time getting to know the island and all it's intricacies. You are close to many beaches, restaurants and a supermarket. Fresh fish is easy to get a hold of and eating in the seclusion of the cottage can be quiet romantic. There were excellent wildlife encounters and beautiful grounds to explore. We really can't say enough good things about Driftwood or Sarah and John. Beautiful island, beautiful cottage, beautiful hosts. Thank you!
