The house was perfect for our family (3 adults and 2 teens). There were plenty of seating areas-both sunny and shaded. We loved the kayaks and the pool. The screened in porch was a well used area as well-ceiling fans would have helped move the air. Inside was beautiful and had everything we needed!! Short drive to grocery store, restaurants, bait shops, and beaches. Reasonable drive to Key West as well. We would definitely stay here again.

We really enjoyed staying here for a week. The home was lovely, very clean, and we had plenty of space. We particularly appreciated the screened porch and the pool. The views were beautiful. One thing to be aware of is that the washer and dryer occupy the closet in one of the bedrooms and there are no doors covering them. That guest just doesn’t have space to hang things. The kitchen was well-stocked with appliances, dishes, pots/pans, etc. The only thing we could have used more of were pods for the dishwasher. We cooked a few meals and could only run the dishwasher three times. We did discover one baking sheet was dirty (had crumbs and oil on it). Overall, we all agreed that it was a wonderful place to stay.

Property was very well kept. Beautiful flower garden with pond. Home had everything you could ask for. Beds and furniture very comfortable. Owners were there during our stay but never really saw them. Talked to them at the end our stay and they were so nice. Will rent this again in the future.

Can’t wait to return! I have to say that initially I was a little apprehensive when I read that the owners may be present during our stay, but very quickly my apprehensions were lifted as we rarely saw Nancy and Bob. When we did have a chance to have a quick visit, they were lovely, gracious hosts. The property is well-maintained, and it is a beautiful location. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Over all it was a nice trip. The home is beautiful and the views are spectacular. We had some issues with no AC for the first night there and no washer until the day before we were set to check out. We did not let any of it ruin our vacation. I still would recommend staying there. Amy the property manager was very responsive and resolved the issues as best she could.

What a great spot that allows you to discover not just one part of the Keys but adventure all over!
Location and boat dock made for such an easy, yet fun, summer trip. It was great to be able to get off the boat and pop right into the private pool or enjoy the sea breeze on the hammock.
The house itself was clean, inviting and comfortable. We slept well and ate well due to the great beds and well appointed kitchen.
Plus side the neighborhood was quiet and allowed us a good night sleep. Thank you for the memories!

The water view from the house, sky at sunrise, wrap around screened porch, very clean pool, and warm weather all were fantastic! The kitchen is also the best stocked we have ever had in a rental. Even the frying pans were in excellent condition. The owners were in the apartment below, but were almost invisible. They are also very welcoming and helpful in any way possible when we did see them. Great place to stay.

Best House and so convenient!
Communication was amazing! I’m sure I drove them crazy with questions but they responded so quickly! The dock was great for the bait we rented for the week. The house has everything you need! I’d say that it looked better in person than through the pictures…and the pictures looked AMAZING! We were throughly happy! The kayaks were perfect, the pool was perfect, the rooms were perfect…..it was PERFECT!

This home is absolutely lovely! The views are great ! The house is clean , open and comfortable. The pool is much appreciated to cool off in the afternoons. The host has a few items to make floating around even better . The porch is a great outside dinning area. A ceiling fan would be a perfect addition!
Dock is in great shape and we so appreciated the bumpers they had in place. We had no trouble navigating our 24’ center console boat in and out of the lagoon with the markers they have in place . Overall a perfect week to enjoy each other and make fun family memories ! Thank you for sharing your home with us .

Amazing view, incredibly clean, home away from home
We loved our stay at this rental.
Pros: We very much appreciated all the outdoor seating areas. There is a screened porch that wraps the entirety of the house on the 2nd floor. So depending on the time of day, it was great to have different seating options. There were plenty of reclining lounge chairs by the pool and dock.
Also, the garden in the front of the house is adorable. There’s a lovely sitting with a waterfall and path that winds through the garden.
The kitchen is well stocked with everything we needed. However, we didn’t really make a lot of meals as there were so many great bars and grills nearby.
The view from the kitchen and living room is phenomenal!! Leaving that view is going to be hard.
Having a fridge that has an ice maker is a nice perk.
The home was extremely clean and welcoming.
Having outdoor freezers was nice for my kids and husband to put their bait in.
Ki-Kai’s bar is within walking distance. The food was great. They also cooked our fish that we caught on a charter fishing trip.
Cons; I’m nitpicking and none of these are dealbreakers, but, I would recommend bringing your own pillow. The beds were all comfortable though with enough bedding.
I didn’t realize the owners have a home in the lower level of the house. I saw an email the week before we arrived that said the owners come and go, but they have a small apartment in the lower level. It is in the house description and completely an over site in my end for not paying attention to it. I was disappointed at seeing this before we arrived, but it ended up not being an issue at all. The owners tried their very best to stay away from wherever we were. They were very friendly the one or two times we saw them and stayed to themselves. The gentleman was great with giving my husband fishing tips and even offered the use of a fishing pole because our luggage was lost for a couple days.
I would highly recommend renting this home. It was very evident things that the owners paid attention to detail. It was a terrific vacation!

Nice pool for older kids. Not so baby friendly.
We rented the house for privacy. Not knowing that the owners live below the house on the 1st level directly in front of the pool (by the patio furniture). We though they "use" the space from time to time as it states on the disclaimer. We were emailed a few days before our arrival as a reminder that the owners are "staying" below us. We were a bit taken back as we are very private people, and thought we rented the entire place to ourselves. We did not run into any issues, but felt that it should have been more transparent about the owners living below us when we made the reservation. We had to remind our 6year not to jump, run, or scream was as we have someone below us. What kid does not run or scream...hey.
We used the pool 3 times during our 7day stay. The pool is nice. They keep it heated during the day, but the heater turns off at night. Therefore, The pool is cold in the morning, so you'll have to wait til at least 10am to swim. The grounds were well maintain. Bring bug spray. All 5 of us were bitten by no-see-ums around the pool area. One of the nextdoor neighbor smokes outside. If the sit by the pool the smoke smell is a bit of turnoff (completely out of anyone's control).
Inside the house, we did not like the white cloth directors chairs with the glass table as it was not so kid friendly in case one of the kids or adults spill anything on it.....good thing we ate out all the time. The There are no nonstick pans so making any quick egg breakfast is some what difficult. All essential kitcheware are there, but nothing special....nothing fancy. They could upgrade the coffee maker to an automatic-shutoff....I am just glad they had one.
There is not much to do in the area Big Pine are unless you're into boating, fishing, and drinking. We drove into Key West for things to do. We enjoyed the quietness of Little Torch Key area.

Tropical Storm/Hurricane Eta resulted in a few modifications to the original plans but we enjoyed our stay. Location is perfect for diving, fishing or heading into Key West. We’ll be looking to come back again!

Very nice and clean. Needed curtains in master bedroom very bright in there. Ceiling fans out on the porch very hot. I thought the cleanup before leaving was a little more than anywhere I have ever stayed especially vacuuming and moping but overall it was great.

Perfect rental!
This rental has paid attention to every detail. Pool, dock, kayaks-all included. Very well laid out home and extremely well appointed. Not only is the home nicely decorated it is extremely clean. The owners were helpful and super nice to talk to. Even the detail on the exterior was amazing. We loved the gardens, hammock, and the outside decor. Truly a “Keys Feel”. Very close to world class fishing and to Looe Key Reef. We will be back to this location for sure.

Fantastic spot!
We’ve rented in the lower keys for 12+yrs and this is a GREAT spot.
The waterfront and pool are absolutely perfect and incredibly private. The location is phenomenal with Big Pine around the corner. The house was impeccably clean and well furnished. Getting a boat in and out of the new dock could be challenging but it’s great for looking into the natural aquarium that’s right there!

Glad we stayed....
Our stay at the Gladding's Starfish House was simply fabulous. We had the good fortune to be renting a boat while we were there for exploring, fishing and snorkeling so tying up to the dock on the property was perfect. The house itself was well-furnished, comfortable and a fabulous location on a quiet road with brand new dipping pool and great view onto the channel. It was a perfect home for both quiet relaxation reading on the porch or taking a paddle or splashing around in the pool. We were delighted to rarely leave the premises except to get on the boat. I would give it six stars except that we want our dates for next year to be available. It is worth mentioning that the owners, the Gladdings, live next door and are rebuilding their home which was destroyed by the hurricane last year. They have fashioned a small apartment below the rental where they inconspicuously stay. They are incredible hosts and are never seen or heard except when you look for them. They gave us advice on both water and dry land activities and are incredibly gracious folks. Their new home is under construction but the building activity which we were concerned about was benign at worst and barely noticeable at best. It certainly wasn't obtrusive enough to discourage anyone from renting if you are looking for a great, comfortable home with water access. We will be back.

The pictures don't do this property justice. The accommodations are beautiful, clean, and wonderfully comfortable. The grounds are a gift from heaven. There is such care given to the surroundings and the natural beauty is breath-taking. You won't be disappointed. Our family totally enjoyed themselves and have memories that will last a lifetime. The Gladdings are wonderful people to work with and they truly pay attention to detail.

If you are looking for your private paradise in the Keys this is the place to be. The view itself is a reason to vacation here. The property was impeccable inside and out.
