Overall we enjoyed our time in Kate home. The bathing beach is a 10 minute walk, but you can purchase a day permit. The area is beautiful!

We enjoyed the proximity to Hay Beach and the comfort of the house. We had everything we needed to enjoy our week on the island. A great place to stay.

Wonderful nature beautiful sky and moon. We loved Shelter Island - Kate’s house is roomy with a large backyard to see deer and nature

Had a wonderful stay, house was comfortable and roomy, woke up every morning with coffee on deck with lovely views! Walk to beach! Would definitely return, owner was great to deal with and accommodating.....

The pictures do not do it justice. It has new bathrooms and a new kitchen. there is no outside picture of the house on VRBO and it is very pretty and bigger than expected. The bathrooms were spotlessly clean when we arrived.
Since it is a one block walk to the beach, we did not use the outdoor decks nor backyard. We hope to return again.

Perfect for family vacation and Kate is very responsive. You always have tons of questions when it is not your house. Kate had the patience to answer them. Thank you Kate!

The location of this house is great. Hay Beach is the best beach on Shelter Island and it was a quick walk from the house. While there were a few maintenance issues that popped up during our stay, Kate was always easy to reach. Even when the power went out in a storm. There was enough room for our party and we spent a lot of time on the back deck.

Peaceful and quiet location. Kate is easy to communicate with. House has plenty of space and we enjoyed our stay.

The house was large enough for my group and clean. I have some concerns about renting again with this owner. The home itself needs attention. The outside decking is very weak and unsafe in areas and needs to be replaced immediately. The top step on the back of the house is breaking away. The gutters are clogged.And the house needs a good power wash. We couldn’t use the outside the picnic umbrella because it was broken. On the interior, The stairwell needs a railing. Finally there is mold in the lower half of the house. The smell is over powering and is deemed uninhabitable.

My family and I enjoyed a relaxing 4 days at Kate’s place. For all of us it was not only our first time booking a home but also visiting Shelter Island. Both experiences exceeded our expectations.
The house was great, open with great light, and extremely comfortable for our group of 8. The house is wonderfully located just mins from everything the IGA market, the town center and most importantly the beach.
Kate was super prompt in her communications and We can’t wait to make another visit to this wonderful island and home. Kate thank you for a wonderful time.

The house was a welcome break from the city. The location of the house to the beach is terrific. The house was in good condition, had enough space for us and was a good place to spend time.

We went for a late-August stay with teenage kids, my mom, and our dog. Everyone had plenty of room for family time and alone time. The house is in a beautiful community half a block from a beach. All the essential were in the house — lots of towels, extra spices & cooking essentials in the kitchen, an x-box for the kids... perfect for our family get-away

This is our third visit to the house and each time the reception is better. We love the house, the neighbourhood and the Island. The house feels like a home away from home and we are happy to plan several visits during the year.

It was a perfect house for our '2nd house' as we have a large family. Kate is incredible - it was so nice to work with her - she was so accommodating, understanding with various requests, and very reliable!

It is a quiet, clean and very spacious place in a great location near water. The open space is great because the kitchen, living room front and back decks are all open to each other, so makes it good for having out.

We were on the island for a family wedding. This home could not have been better for us. Clean, well equipped , comfortable, beautiful property and view. We would not hesitate to recommend and stay again.

My son and his family join us at this lovely home on a wooded lot. It is 10 minutes from the swimming beach and town. A walking beach is just across the street. All amenities were provided as shown on the website. Only concern was back out of steep driveway into a blind corner of the road. Needed to be extrra cautious.

We had an absolutely lovely stay at Kate's place on Shelter Island. The house was big enough to have room to spare, bright and airy-feeling, and had everything we needed to be comfortable. Walking distance to a gorgeous strolling path of beach. And a short drive away from the whole of the island. A wonderful stay.
