A proposito di questa casastruttura in affitto
WATER FRONT , Private lodge and 3 cabins sitting on the Shore of Moosehead Lake
Kineo è un must.

I have mixed feelings about this rental -- there are a lot of positives, but also a number of negatives relative to other homes I have rented historically. I'll start with the positives. The location is wonderful -- you have an unobstructed view of the lake and Mt Kineo, there is shockingly little boat traffic on the lake, the dock and mooring work well for boat rentals, and the landscaping around the property is very nice. The owners also provide a lot of nice "toys" that you are free to use from kayaks to canoes to cornhole and bocce. And finally, I liked the rustic decor within the cabins. On the negative side, this property requires a fair bit of work on the part of the renters. The cabins are off the grid and electricity is run by batteries which have to be fed by generators. That means that as the renter, you have to go outside twice a day to start the generator and twice a day to turn off the generator to prevent the batteries from getting too low and causing damage. It's not difficult, but it's annoying. If you want to run the washing machine, you have to go outside and flip a switch and then run the generator all the time the washing machine is on. Then when you finish washing, you have to go out and flip the switch again and turn off the generator. There is no dryer so drying must be done on the clothes line. These things are not difficult to do, but for folks used to the conveniences of modern living, they are a hassle.

We were a large extended family from east & west coast and Deer Lodge was exceptional for us.
It is so beautiful and at the same time comfortable.
We were welcomed upon arrival and everything explained to us about the workings of the camp.
We highly recommend this lovely rental.

Pristine and Tranquil Property
From the moment we made the reservation to the point of checkout, the entire experience was unforgettable. What a gorgeous location and interesting property filled with lots of history. Daily visits from ducks, rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks, and an occasional moose sighting. If you want to relax and unwind with your family while enjoying nature, this is the place to go. A wonderful experience all around! 5 stars.

Fantastic
Our family loved our stay at the family compound / lodge. The cabins were comfortable and the exactly at the right level of "rustic" and "updated." There are four cabins. My wife and I stayed in the main cabin, which has a master bedroom with a beautiful view of the lake. This main cabin is also where we ate most of our meals -- there is a large table positioned under a skylight. We also sat out on the front porch overlooking the water a fair amount, and spent a lot of time out on the water playing around the lake. The lake is crystal clear and was refreshingly cool. What a treat!

Amazing Lakefront Cabins
Loved our trip to Moosehead lake staying in these cozy cabins right on the lake. Unbelievable water views/sunsets and star gazing. Loved sitting by the fire pit at night listening to the loons.
We stayed in the main cabin and my husband used the cabin next to it as his office which worked out perfect. Wifi was great. Main cabin wonderfuly decorated with antiques and very comfortable master bed. Had everything we needed for cooking, lounging, etc. Beautiful views from cabins, porch, dock. Did a ton of hiking and took a wonderful seaplane trip. Nearby saw deer, turkeys, mink, rabbits, - and moose prints although not a full on moose. Loved that the place was solar powered - very easy to manage the generator as needed.
Main cabin has an outdoor shower which I loved (got super hot!) and the cabin next door had an indoor shower (more my husbands style!). They had a canoe and paddle boards which I kept meaning to take out but got distracted with other activities and then it was a little to windy for me. Next time!!!

Glorious vacation!
Our extended family rented this glorious property for a week. The cabins are very well maintained - lots of love evident in the care of the cabins and landscape. It sits RIGHT on the lake. Gorgeous views all times of days and nights from the porches and dock. Swimming was exquisite - clear water and easy access. We went canoeing every day and rented a small motor boat which was lovely. Superb hiking in the area - we did a longer hike 4 of the days. The views were astonishing. The owners were incredibly response and very helpful.

Family reunion fun
We had an amazing week at Moosehead Lake. The views from the property were spectacular and we had a great time kayaking, paddle boarding, canoeing, fishing, swimming, snorkeling, and boating. Hiking Mt. Kineo was a definite highlight! We spent nights sitting around the campfire listening to the loons and enjoying each other. The beds were comfy and the main cabin was a great place to gather for playing cards and eating dinners. Kathryn and Christian were awesome hosts and we hope to come back again!

What a wonderful week we had! The location and views at your camp were just amazing. Beautiful sun rises and sun sets! The atmosphere of your cabins and setting just made everyone relax and take a deep breath. Our adult children became kids and just had such fun on the water. Dave brought along a big blow up raft that was tons of fun plus we had our own canoe and kayaks. My son’s 1 yr. old baby was amazingly good and loved the water with her life jacket, even in the kayak, dad was so proud. We all watered to the cove down on the R where the water was warm to swim and explore. Dan my son in law had a great time diving down just south of the mornings and kept finding treasures, some old and some not so old, we kept 2 tiny bottles and a piece of china he found for a project. He wrote in the lodge book about his depth finder that he and his 8 yr. old son made and described what to do. You can certainly toss it, but I guess it was just fun to build on the theme about the history of the lake and hidden treasures. We had stories around the camp fire about what life on the lake may have been like long ago. We climbed Mt Kineo ( steep Indian Trail... everyone!) fished, swam, and had crayfish races off your dock. Have a hilarious video of our dog who was waiting so patiently watching the races, and my grand daughter who named the last biggest one, hoping to keep him in what the kids called the hot tub ( little pool area to the R of dock as you step down the steps ) and then as the crayfish was set down to admire his size, Paddy, our dog, made a quick lunge with his Spaniel nose and grabbed him... so gross ! Tears from the grand daughter but we’re hoping the crayfish grows back his tail 😳 and tossed him back to the lake of healing waters! We loved the games we found in the bunk cabin and had some fun competitions. Thank you for making your wonderful camp available for us to enjoy and make some Moosehead Lake memories as a family. Peter the oldest grandchild made a beautiful walking stick and couldn’t part with it but he left it by the wood pile “so others can enjoy it”. Kat and Dan saw 2 baby black bears cross the dirt road when driving out on departure day, they were so very excited. We all went home rested and in love with Moosehead Lake and the area of your beaufitul and comfortable camp.

Fantastic week with family at Deer Lodge
We just returned from a wonderful 6-day stay at Deer Lodge and loved every bit of it. The cabins were comfortable for all - from an 8 month old baby to my 65 year old mother. The property strikes the perfect balance between rustic / off-the-grid and just enough modern comforts (i.e. comfy beds and wifi). The view of the lake is spectacular and as Christian recommended, the sunrise is breathtaking! Kathy and Christian were incredibly responsive to all of our questions and provided great info about the area. Thanks to Christian, we did end up spotting a moose where he told us to look! We truly hope to return again one day.

Fantastic!
Family vacay at the marvelous Deer Lodge, courtesy of the generous and accommodating Townsend family, who took great care to ensure we had an unforgettable time on Moosehead Lake! The views can't be beat and we loved coming together for meals in the main camp at the end of each day. Some of the special touches/decor/books they've picked out specifically for the camp make it a very special place and it is stocked with sporting/play equipment---a huge bonus for our active extended family. We spent all week outside! Close enough to Greenville to grocery shop, etc., but far enough away to be away from it all. Thanks so much!

If you are anything like me and have an inner-Boy Scout, Rockwood Lodge will not disappoint. Think Next Gen Boy Scout though. Our 'cabin' was retro-fitted to make you feel like you are playing the part, only it also comes with things like a fireplace, full bath, fridge, and a fire pit right out the back door. And that was only one of the camps. So dreamy. The main camp is open and welcoming with views all around you. It is the perfect balance of spacious and cozy. The owners were incredibly cool and resourceful with loads of information about the property, the sights and the local fun. Truly special spot that is not to be missed.

Amazing, relaxing trip. Beautiful property
This property is phenomenal. The cabins are well maintained and very comfortable. It's a unique property with several cabins so everyone has their own space if you go with more than one family. The lake is pristine and incredibly beautiful. We had a fantastic week here.

Once in a lifetime vacation
We gather from Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Boston for a week-long 80th birthday celebration for my father in-law. The dirt road is long, so you know the property is private. Each turn you leave your busy life behind and begin to exhale and take in the clean air. You have now entered Deer Lodge land and see a most welcoming meandering pathway of rocks and plants marking off the 5 separate buildings on this truly one of a kind property.
Kathryn and Christian have turned the original boys camp from the 1900s into a home compound worthy of the set "On Golden Pond" or "Northern Exposure". The kitchen is stocked for any type of chef - gourmet to grill master. We claimed "kid land" as the building with a large flat tv (no cable) and a bookcase full of games and DVDs which they could occupy as the adults had wine in the main lodge. Deer Lodge is a place where everyone has their own experiences. A grandfather reading his book, a son creating lego space ships, and a niece on her laptop updating her virtual world game. Yes, there is wifi.
Here are a few things we did during the week: Rent a boat from The Birches and drive 10 minutes across the lake from Deer Lodge to Mount Kineo for a hike. Pack a picnic and walk 20 minutes into the forest to see Moxie Falls. Contact Moxie Outdoor and take a 1/2 day duckie (kayak) down the lower Kennebec River. It was perfect for our entire family as we floated for 2 hours with a gentle current. Adventure seekers don't miss doing a full day of white water rafting. Visit the cute town of Greenville and don't miss The Moosehead Historical Society. The docents dressed in period costume and explain the rich history of Greenville along with the gossip. It's a small home, so would suggest leaving the kids behind. It received distinction as one of the finest small town museums in the country.
Communication was top-notch before, during, and after our stay, as both owners helped to create a magical week in Moosehead. They were so generous with their time and knowledge. I never felt rushed when I kept asking just one more question from Los Angeles. This is more than a rental, this is their special family place and we feel honored to be able to spend time in this wonderful home. If I could rate this with 10 stars I would! Thank you Kathryn and Christian for making this a week my family will never ever forget.
