House was lovely with a beautiful yard, pool, cooking patio, and wrap around porches with plenty of amazing rockers to enjoy the Blanco river.

Lots of wildlife travel though the yards awaiting for a treat.
The house has plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms to accommodate a large group. There is even a bonus game room with yet another bedroom and bathroom.

The house is roomy and comfortable. Just as advertised. Kitchen is so well stocked and lots of space for our groceries. Plenty of dining space and even a game table. Nice big comfortable bedrooms and updated and sleek bathrooms upstairs. The pool and bbq area are perfect for evening cookout and swim. The real kicker is the view of the river and the river spot. Perfect for kids to play in, and adults to lay in. Nice beach area to set up a tent and chairs and spend the whole day there. And the deer and foxes and birds are just mesmerizing. 6 out of 5 stars. I see why people hook the Great Escape over and over each year. We will come again too!

We have a friend’s trip every year in Texas and this year we stayed at the great escape. House is comfortable and well stocked. Plenty of space of 15 of us. Pool was clean and well maintained. The river is a short walk from the house which is great with little ones. It wasn’t flowing very quickly but not the properties fault. We even had a little grey fox playing around on the rocks near the house.

This place has it all! Many bedrooms (and beds!) with comfortable mattresses and bedding. Great tvs and big room kitchen/family room. Excellent communication with management company. Nice pool and hot tub and river frontage! We loved it and will definitely return.

The property handled our multigenerational family re-union well. Although the weather did not allow for water activity, the pool looked like it would have been fun. Unfortunately, the hot tub would not heat over 90 degrees (but we didn't notify management to address).
The gameroom with pool table, shuffleboard, and PacMan was great for the young ones.
I imagine TV is not the main draw for this property, but on this football Saturday, the TV and main living room space felt a bit tight for the number of people (8 adults, a teen, and four under 8).
The beds were softer than we prefer - and may need updating.
That said, the property had a great porch; and the land around the home was great for walking. The Blanco river in the front was easily accessible - although only a small stream at this visit, it made for a peaceful vibe.
Overall, would recommend.

Everything from communication, customer service, and well-thought-out amenities for a big group of 14 of us - was spot on. I highly recommend this host and home for anyone looking to have a long-weekend retreat. Beautiful scenery, tons of space, and a short drive to downtown to get out of the house.

We are a group six cousins that try to get together with our spouses once a year. We are close to hitting the 10 year mark. We've been various locations with lovely homes. However, this one hit the spot! We will probably go back some time next year. The house was very roomy, ample bathrooms, kitchen was well stocked but could have used some salt shakers and additional pot holders. But if that's the only thing I think we're doing pretty good.
I can't say enough about the outdoor area. We were in the rocking chairs on the back porch all day every day. We waited until the last minute to check out because we were still in the rocking chairs.
Wimberly is such a neat little town. We needed more time. The only thing that could have made things better is more water in the river behind the property. But that is up to God.
I highly recommend. You will not be disappointed.

I rented two houses with this property management company (wedding held in Wimberley) and personally stayed at this one. I loved that it was right at the river. Sitting outside on the porch in a rocker was just the right way to start each day. Communication with the management company was easy and they were very responsive.

Love this property. We have stayed here twice now for our girls' trip. Great view. Peace and quiet. Pool and hot tub to just hang out. Wimberly nearby for shopping, and eating out. Lots of other local attractions for those who want to be more active. House and guest house always clean and in order when we arrive. Lots of room!

This is a wonderful property for a large group and perfect when Mother Nature doesn’t cooperate and allow outdoor fun. Our Thanksgiving family trip was spent much of the time in the spacious family room in front of the fire playing games, eating and more. Since it was a holiday we did extensive cooking and the kitchen didn’t disappoint. There are plenty of dishes and cookware and great small and large appliances. The only thing we missed was a garbage disposal. The view from the back porch is lovely and we had looked forward to time spent there sipping coffee or wine, but again, the weather didn’t give us much opportunity to do so. I guess we’ll just have to return to take advantage of the outdoor activities this property offers.

Our stay was fantastic. We had a group of 12 women meeting for a weekend of collegial connection and rest. The size of the space allowed plenty of room rest and socializing, all beds comfortable and cozy, and many beautiful outdoor spaces to enjoy the sounds of the Wimberely and the Blanco River. The host was very communicative and helped us with a late check out. I’ve stayed at another property by this host and there is consistent excellence. Highly recommend!

I chose this area based on my son’s recommendation, as I was looking for something that was not a “long” drive for our dispersed family. This was the perfect fit and location to celebrate my wife’s 60th birthday. The hardest part was keeping it a surprise. The house was very neat and clean, and (although we did very little cooking) seemed to have anything you would need. The view is absolutely beautiful, and will be even better when the drought subsides. Check in and out was very easy. We would definitely stay here again.

Our family had a wonderful time at The Great Escape. We spent most of our time at the house enjoying the views and visiting with family on the large porch. Kids loved the pool and game room. The house was very comfortable. We hated to leave.

Last year we celebrated my sisters bachelorette with a few close friends. This year we wanted to celebrate our grandmothers 85th birthday and we knew the perfect place! Our favorite things about this location is it’s connection to the river and proximity to “downtown” Wimberly. Our favorite thing about the amenities its the spacious sleeping accommodations, with no bunk beds which is a family preference, the back porch with several rocking chairs, and the pool/hot tub area.
Management was kind, and responsive. We will be back again!!

Family vacation
The home is lovely. Our family included a grandmother, her sons and their wives, and 6 grandchildren ranging in age from 22 to 11. We had golfers, concert goers, shoppers. There was easy access to all. The pool, guest house with pool table and shuffle board provided extra entertainment. The Blanco River, while low, was an easy walk. The long back porch with rockers was a favorite place for morning coffee and evening wine. We would go back.

Excellent house for a large group. Plenty of room to spread out and enjoy this beauty from the ‘50s. 8 women (sisters, aunts, cousins) stayed together and it worked out perfectly. The house was well-equipped to cook for a large group, and the other family that stayed at another home came over for some meals and it was never a crowded ordeal. This is a wonderful large-group house!

The pictures of this property undersell it a bit! But it is refreshing to see an owner who isn’t overselling the property with enhanced photos and false backgrounds. I travel with my group of 15 family members at least once, sometimes twice a year for the last 22 years. The quality of the linens, appliances, kitchen supplies and amenities are better than any large house accommodation we typically stay in. We hope to come back to this house in the next year! A wonderful gathering place
My childhood friends and I gathered here to celebrate our 40 year HS reunion. We could not have found a better location. The layout is great for a large group, and the host made sure we had everything we needed. That meant no extra trips to town! We loved our time together and our surroundings.. Lovely large home with more than enough room for several people to stay and sleep comfortably. Online description was spot on, easy process to reserve and make payments. Property manager, Shiloh is always quick to respond to any inquiries and pleasant to communicate with.Pool & hot tub are great, large back porch area with plenty of seating/rockers. Awesome accommodations!! Home found to be very clean and inviting. Great open layout allows for family fellowship. Our group included 10 adults and 3 kids visiting Wimberely for a family wedding. Home includes numerous sleeping options for families with children, even a high chair in the dining room! Beds have comfortable mattresses , nice linens and a kitchen that included everything!!! Rockers on the back porch are perfect for enjoying your morning coffee, listening to the birds sing and the sound of the river running. Game room is perfect for the young and old. Thanks so much for sharing your home with us. It was a wet weekend but with the your outstanding accommodations it was enjoyed by all.

Peeps Great Escape
Lovely large home with more than enough room for several people to stay and sleep comfortably. Online description was spot on, easy process to reserve and make payments. Property manager, Shiloh is always quick to respond to any inquiries and pleasant to communicate with.
Pool & hot tub are great, large back porch area with plenty of seating/rockers. In a nutshell, this is a great place to get away and just enjoy nature and not worry about noisey neighbors or vice versa.

A memory maker
The property was exactly as it was described but words cannot describe the tranquility and peacefulness of the property. There was plenty of room for alone time whether it was to read or just sit with your thoughts. We were a family of 10 in the house and we talked and played games and went fishing and swimming. We will always be grateful for this time that we were able to spend together. I highly recommend this house.
