Overall this was a great house with a great layout! It had all the essentials and walk to the beach was easy. House is surface cleaned well but could use a deep clean. We really enjoyed our stay and would return!

This is a fabulous property for a family reunion! We easily slept 4 families/2 dogs. Walking distance to restaurants and the beach. Any questions we had were quickly answered and addressed with owner easily. Would definitely book a large group again! Amazing memories made!

We enjoyed our stay and it was exactly as listed. The house has many bedrooms, which we needed, and 3 kitchens! It is an older house, but was clean and nice to stay in. I have no complaints and want to thank John for a great time at his beach house.

We loved how big it was for our family. It was located in a very convenient location and we were so pleased with the promptness of the home owner and his staff. Can't say enough about how happy we were with this property!

We loved our week at the beach! The home was a great size for our family and a short walk to the beach. The upper deck was great for eating and playing games together. I would have been nice to have some more dish towels, oven mits, and hand towels. We cooked a lot so these items would have been beneficial. Overall great stay and a great host.

The Sandy Castle is an excellent rental for a large group of friends looking to have a great hang with comfortable lodging, lots of bathrooms, quick access to the beach, and short drive to venues on IOP or in Mount Pleasant. We stayed here with our wedding party for our wedding weekend and couldn't have asked for anything better. Went for a swim the morning of the big day, enjoyed the outside elevated porch area, appreciated the lots of parking and laundry, hung out at the bench-style huge dining room table, and loved our stay. The layout is a bit atypical, and there are a few quirks (e.g., one of the larger beds is in a studio in-law style apartment that has a window AC unit rather than central air; the wifi isn't the strongest in most of the house). John was helpful and responsive, and it even worked out for a slightly earlier check-in than anticipated. It has everything you need! We'd definitely stay here again!

The house was clean and inviting. John was awesome at answering any questions we had - the place is in a great spot for heading to the beach, going for dinner etc. Can’t recommend this house enough!

We rented this location to house my daughters bridal party, their spouses, the bride and groom as well as additional family. 13 adults in a house can be a horrible nightmare but not at Sandy Castle! We had plenty of room to spread out or gather - it was perfect! Even sharing 4 bathrooms was never an issue and we always had HOT WATER! The beds were all super comfy, even the twin beds! A few guests asked about the mattress type cause they wanted to buy one ;). Everyone gave rave reviews! Location is great, right on the main drag and plenty of parking! We had one minor issue early on and the host was super responsive and corrected it same day! If you have a big group I highly recommend this rental!!

The home is conveniently located an easy walk (place near by to rent golf carts if one is needed) to the beach, grocery store and restaurants. There are seven bedrooms downstairs a kitchen, small living room, wet bar and 2 bathrooms. Upstairs is the main living, kitchen and dining rooms as well as two bathrooms and two bedrooms and a wonderful rooftop area with chairs, a grill and two picnic tables. The downstairs is updated in beachy colors whereas the upper level is a nostalgic nod to beach houses of the past. Plenty of towels were provided and comfortable beds. There was an ample amount of cookware, dishes, a keurig and microwaves. We had everything our large family of 16 needed. The home located close to a busy road, but did not hinder our stay and we will definitly stay here again.

The property was in a good location for all we did on our visit. Tons of space. Quite and relaxing

This really worked well for our ladies group and the host was a great communicator. Bring beach chairs and umbrellas, there is a wagon to take your stuff to the beach. Would stay here again.

I gave the property 5 stars because it was very clean, the beds were comfortable and there were no surprises. The listing pictures and descriptions were accurate and we knew beforehand that it would be an older house with a weird layout, a couple blocks from the beach. The house had excellent AC and the beds were very comfortable, the pillows were awesome. There were plenty of bedrooms for privacy and 3 separate living rooms to hang out in. We had 17 adults and a toddler... 4 generations. We rented 2 golf carts, so getting to the beach wasn't difficult. The one drawback was that the main large livingroom and kitchen were on the 2nd floor so my mom had to navigate the stairs when we had family meals or wanted to all be together. I would also take a couple extra bath and kitchen towels and wash cloths next time. Also, it's good to know that the house sits very close to a busy road if you're bring children. Overall, we had a wonderful time together as a family and really enjoyed our vacation❤

This was the perfect property for 4 families, all siblings and spouses, 1 teen and 1 college age. The sea shell unit was perfect for our handicapped spouse and the stairs up to the main living room were adequate for those with walking issues as long as they had supervision. Beds were super comfortable and we had plenty of room to spread out for quiet or gather together for meals and entertainment upstairs. All in all, we had a great, relaxed time. Our host was very accommodating with quick response to emails and very hospitable.

First time my immediate family has been together in over 5yrs and we all (16) fit under 1 roof!! Everyone had their own bed, which were comfy; teens had their own space to hang; adults had their own space to relax and we were not on top of everyone. Host was very responsive and a pleasure to work with. A few things to consider. Maybe a few extra dish towels and bath mats. Not a problem just an FYI. . . Bring an extra bath towel; there is 1 per guest per stay. There is washer and dryer in the house though. Overall a Great stay in a Great location. Would DEFINITELY recommend to others and would stay again.

The house was clean & the kitchen was fully stocked. The space was love & we weren't on top of each other. We were able to relax & have quiet time when needed. The boat tour & food was excellent, the guide on tour was very knowledgeable. He was very friendly & willing to assist in any way. Only issue was we couldn't do our fire works for the new year.

Very spacious. This home had everything we needed and more. It is a bit dated but, worth the price! Will stay again.

The property was in a great location for the wedding, and downtown activities. It was so perfect for the number of people we had. Everyone had their own space. The outdoor shower was a life saver. The upstairs shower has a moldy shower curtain, we didn’t have any dish towels to dry dishes and zero dishwasher soap.

Pros: many bedrooms for our multi-generational family, easy walk to beach and shops, easy to communicate with owner Cons: major ceiling leak that sent us home early, house in poor condition, holes in the bathrooms, uncomfortable mattresses, no central seating area for large group, broken window, no ice in upstairs kitchen This house is hard to figure out from the listing. It's really two houses put together by a self-built hallway. The downstairs is like a dorm with kitchen/den, a row of small bedrooms and a master bed/bath at the end. The upstairs has two master beds/baths, kitchen and a small den. The house is just really shabby, which is generally not an issue for me. We've vacationed at Isle of Palms for 10 years - I understand beach shabby. But this one had a broken window (with sign that says "broken window" that's clearly been there for a while), 2 holes in a bathroom wall, very uncomfortable and holey furniture in the main den, doors that don't close all the way, upstairs fridge not making ice, uneven floors. The first day we were there we found a leak in the hallway ceiling and let owner know. Leak got progressively worse during our stay and owner came over twice to look at it. He decided it would be fine. Our second to last day, the ceiling caved in and the most foul, nasty water cascaded from the ceiling. The mildew and mold and the SMELL were insane. If it had caved on one of us, it would have been a serious injury. Our vacation was over, essentially. I packed up my kids and left, as did the other family members staying on the first floor. My parents and aunt and uncle stayed the night upstairs because it was too late to drive 6 hours back home at their ages. I asked owner for our last night's rent back and got a little pushback on the full night's amount - he felt since my older relatives stayed upstairs that night he shouldn't have to pay the full amount back. I told him our vacation was over the moment that ceiling caved in. End of story. He did refund the full night's amount. I spent too much of my vacation emailing with owner and meeting the owner at the house to show him problems.

There were13 in our family that shared the Sandy Castle for my daughter's wedding. It was the PERFECT house for us! Close to the beach, beach chairs & towels & 2 gathering areas & plenty of TV's. We'd stay again!!
