The house was pretty nice; it was as described in the listing. We enjoyed the pool table, hot tub, and the dock was convenient for lake activities. It was a very pleasant week. There were several minor maintenance issues with the home that kept the experience for being perfect, but we did not let them bother us. I would like to list them so that future guests arent surprised: upstairs bathroom/shower leaked into the kitchen; master bedroom door handle came off; sliding screen door on main level door handle was loose/came off; master bath shower water temp was never hot enough; downstairs pull-out couch broken; downstairs recliner chair broken; sliding door on upstairs shower broken/off track; some of fire pit furniture (chairs) broken. The wifi seemed to work well. A/C was okay. It was a nice house, we went with the flow and had a good time. Wed probably seek another house in the future - this was pretty pricey for what it was.

Outstanding lake views, swimming and fishing. If you love the outdoors this is the place for you. Walking trails, kayaking, biking, alot of exercise. Plenty to do and if you just want to kick back and relax you can just sit on the outside deck and soak in the lake. Would return again and again. Taylor Made has outstanding service and always available. Would highly recommend.

Reviewer Comments: Multiple things in the house were broken upon our arrival-multiple door handles and knobs, broken deck posts, entryway picture frame, and fireplace. Multiple lightbulbs were also out. It would have been more helpful if toilet paper would have been provided. The house was very dirty. Condoms and an old hat were left in the master suite. The duvets and pillows on all beds had stains also. I had to disinfect the kitchen upon my arrival in order to clean. We loved the scenery, layout, and location of the house, but the cleaning staff needs to do more than just simple cosmetic cleaning. Very displeased overall.

I admit I'm disappointed we weren't offered a partial refund when we had no running water for an entire day because of a broken well. They brought a few jugs of drinking water but that doesn't help when it comes to showering, flushing toilets, cooking, or washing hands after taking care of two small kids including diaper changes. Given the cost of renting the property, I would have expected the appliances to be purchased in this century but all of them (except for the brand new scratch and dent refrigerator) were at least 20 years old. The house was damp and a little musty, and the dehumidifiers and Damp-Rid containers didn't help much.

The property is absolutely gorgeous... sitting at the table and looking out over the lake was absolutely perfect! The windows are HUGE and the views are stunning! 2nd- we were lucky enough that it snowed which was so beautiful! The hot tub is HUGE and changes all different colors. The fire pit is down by the water which makes is even better! We loved having the pool table and ping pong tables for hanging out. Wifi was VERY helpful and FREE :) If you are going in the winter- it not far at all from Wisp! 3rd- We also loved the privacy, there are neighbors but they are spaced enough so that you aren't right on top of them. The road itself is off the beaten path and very private which we also liked. The path that cuts through the property goes all the way around the lake which is pretty cool. The kitchen was big and the table could seat all of our guests. Overall it was WONDERFUL! We will definitely be back to the Highland Retreat! :)

Great views. Lots of steps so perhaps not for the knee-challenged. The amenities were nice and the lake-side walk was great. Some drawbacks were correctable. The hot tub never heated properly despite two requested service calls; bears got into the "bear proof" container twice, something that has happened a lot as witnessed by the trashed area across the road in the woods; main room shower did not offer hot water (though all others did). I'd also say the house is too small for 14 people - there is bed space but not "living" space. Ten people max. Good week all-in-all through. Recommended.

No space in kitchen to store food we brought. Cabinets all filled with plates, utensils, pots pans, etc. we had to leave all food on countertops all week. Too many storage areas throughout the house were locked for owners property. Loved that we could bring our dogs, but one chewed the ant traps placed around kitchen and we spent 20 min on phone with Raid determining that traps arent harmful to our Dalmatian. Suggest removing them prior to a pet stay or maybe put under frig, stove, etc. or at least warn renters they are there. Nice area for nightly bonfire. We paid for early check in and when we arrived exactly at noon maintenance man there repairing stove problem. Was not rented week before so this repair should have been done well before our arrival. Quick response from maintenance to remove wasp nest from deck area.

I was in constant contact with Amanda; she answered all of my millions of emails and questions and was always so helpful. When we arrived to the house everything was in great condition and there was much more at the house than I was expecting (serving dishes, detergent, cleaning supplies, etc.). The view was spectacular! Unfortunately, the weekend was a little cooler than expected, but we still had so much to do --hot tub, fire pit, hiking, ping pong, pool, etc. The only thing that I would complain about is the fact that the dishwasher didnt lock, so we had to wash everything by hand --when you have 13 people staying together that can be a little time consuming. Other than the dishwasher, everything was above and beyond my expectations. I would definitely return for another weekend!

We called multiple times requesting salt, which went unfulfilled. I was forced to spend 2 hours of my trip chipping the ice away with a plastic shovel and a broom stick - very disappointing.
