Maybe we’re weird but sitting in the yard or on the deck watching barges cruise by is relaxing to us. The backyard is fenced. Our dog kept wanting to go under the deck. Last time we were here…06/2021…we let her. This time we didn’t. Late at night we’ve had a fox, groundhog and raccoon visit. MANY birds during the day. The Purple Martins from next door remove almost every flying insect. Last time a fox stole a dog toy. ( I always take cameras to any house we rent, for security.) The home is .69 miles from Mellow Mushroom pizza…my personal favorite since living in Atlanta in 1975. There are SEVERAL parks. Owensboro has performed a great public service with its dedication to various parks. There’s even a park on the river less than a mile due west AND east. They also have done a great job of setting up the infrastructure for booths for various events downtown. You can walk downtown in ten minutes or bike there in two. The area around town is almost dead flat. The people we’ve encountered are very nice. We’ve discussed the possibility of moving there. The downtown river park has a constant stream of 70’s to 90’s music playing on a plethora of speakers.
The kitchen is very well stocked. There’s a grill outside. The bridge to the east has changing LED lights at night. I feel like if I look up the word ‘relaxing’ I’ll see a picture of this house.
The only negative is the cleaning service could improve the house a lot just by vacuuming under the beds

I've stayed at a lot of short-term rentals and am a host of vacation property myself. This "River House" is completely unacceptable. No oven, dim lighting, lack of cleanliness, inoperable dishwasher, broken/dismantled smoke detectors, exterior door lock not working properly, downright rude communications by Brenda, our so-called "host" -- not to mention the bait-and-switch pricing practice of promising a 10% discount for a stay longer than 10 days and then not actually doing a discount but rather blaming VRBO, plus adding a $100 electricity charge and other mystery charges AFTER you book this property. If you rent this property after reading this review, all I can say is "buyer beware" -- you were warned. To top off this one-star review, Brenda accused me of stealing a toaster oven! And breaking the dishwasher! And dinged me for exiting the house at 10:35 am rather than 10 sharp!

The house was perfect for us. It was very close to the convention center and the view from the back deck was beautiful. Will definitely book again.

We had a great time at the river house. All went smoothly. This house has an extraordinarily beautiful view of the Ohio River and the lighted bridge. The yard and the deck are terrific. The house is very well supplied and has good comfortable living room furniture. It is dog friendly including tie outs in the yard. We always enjoy our trips to Owensboro.

Good view of river, had an extra charge for use of electric. What ever fruit falling from trees created a bad odor. Nice fenced yard, and pet friendly. Need to bring your own coffee, none provided, use of light switches awkward

I chose this property for the river view, but it is also very quaint and comfortable . Very clean and well appointed. Comes with a family of foxes that play on the bank of the river.

I’ve been in many VRBO‘s but this one was the best by the pictures I was skeptical as they do not do justice to this beautiful home we were right on the river and the view was fantastic Brenda was a wonderful host and even came to see if we needed anything else I will definitely book here again I loved seeing the foxes in the morning and the birds sang all day long such tranquility !

Our trip definitely didn't go as originally planned and changed even as we arrived. We had to change our lodging at the last minute and Brenda was amazing to accommodate us on short notice. My kids were suppose to be staying with their dad but ended up not being able to, we all were very comfortable in this home. My dog was suppose to stay home but ended up having to come with me (my reason for last minute change of lodging) and it was so nice to have a place I knew he was welcomed! Brenda even asked if he was enjoying his stay as well, that meant so much! We will definitely be staying here again in the future!

This house was comfortable & spacious enough to spend time with our family. Not having an oven was a HUGE disappointment as we were celebrating thanksgiving there with family. Not sure why there was a very strong “dog poo” smell on the deck since we didn’t not bring animals? Overall-we enjoyed our stay & the home owner was very accommodating & quick to respond to our questions!

This was our second time staying at this gem of a property. The house is very nice and has a fantastic view of the Ohio River and downtown Owensboro. It’s just a short walk to downtown where there are plenty of restaurants and little shops to keep you busy.

Property is right on the Ohio River with an impressive, unobstructed view. Mentioned to the owner that one mattress was worn out and she said she would order a new one.
A few oddities, but not deal breakers: no national tv channels available on the otherwise nice flat screen tv's, no oven and there were Alexa's, or some similar "listening" devices in the bedrooms. I don't have those and wondered about them, as there were no instructions.

Our family truly enjoyed our stay here. Easy check in, clean and quiet. Incredible view. Our young daughters playing in the yard and finding the little statues in the garden. We would love to stay again when we’re next in town.

Great stay and a priceless view of the Ohio! Our kids and dog enjoyed the big yard and we enjoyed the close proximity to activities like Smothers Park, Bluegrass Museum, and Green River Distillery.

From check in to check out everything went smoothly. The house was easy to find and the house was exactly as described. We spent most of our time on the porch overlooking the river. The bridge was lit up at night that made it so relaxing. The only thing I would have to say about the house is it needs brighter lighting, couldn’t operate the TVs in the bedrooms and there’s no stove. It didn’t interfere with our stay just a suggestion for the future. I would definitely stay again! We loved it!

Our stay was really relaxing. The view was amazing and it was very peaceful. The house is laid out to facilitate connection and conversation, and there was something for everyone! the backyard was also really beautiful with flowers, and hanging out on the deck enjoying bar-b-que and seeing the bridge at night was incredible. Brenda is a super host--very responsive, friendly, and available to help in any way. Thanks so much, Brenda!

Quiet and secluded. Perfect for peaceful relaxation. Exactly what we needed in between our bouts of exploring the area. Great space for our four-legged companions as well. LOVED speculating about the barges as they passed by on the river. Had a perfect view of the July 4 festivities! We would definitely recommend. Or return ourselves!

We had a nice time and loved the view of the bridge lights. Had some foxes visit us. Porch fest was fun and Friday after 5.

Great views! The sunrises and sunsets are gorgeous. The lights on the bridge are fun to watch. The river is right there! Very soothing time away.

We were in town for a remembrance for a family member and we drove 6 hours down with our kids and dog, and met my parents there as well. There was plenty of room for all of us. The dog and kids LOVED the big fenced yard. The sunset from the yard was amazing! Very close to downtown if you are looking for a trendy restaurant or pub. We saw a fox on the other side of the back fence, and the kids loved watching the barges go down the river. Great view of the bridge which lights up and changes color at night. The house was clean and quaint. We will definitely come back and stay again next time we’re in town! The owner was accommodating and easy to reach. Great place!
