This is such a wonderful place to spend a few days - very private, relaxing and with everything you need. It is about a 10-15 minute leisurely walk up from the main road where there are a number of restaurants close by plus the small Super Cocles market. Panaderia Frances is great for coffee and pastries in the morning unless you want to just make your own at the villa and enjoy it laying by the small pool. Tania and Henri were so friendly and hospitable but completely respectful of privacy. It doesn’t get better than this.

This place was exactly what we were looking for. We couldn't have picked a better home to stay in during our first visit to Costa Rica. Tania and Henri are extremely nice, attentive, and very accommodating, yet very respectful of your privacy. Their own home is on the same property, but the layout of the rental provides an atmosphere leaving you feeling like you're the only people in a beautiful place in the jungle.
The place is simple, almost minimal, but feels like home the moment you settle in. Opening all the doors in the mornings was one of our favorite things to do, allowing you to stay in bed and look out over the patio where we had breakfast every morning, and into the jungle where we could see and hear all the wonderful animal-life that exists in this amazing part of the world. Again, for us this home was perfect - it's not a luxury rental (some of the criticisms of other reviews in my opinion are just petty), but you feel like you're somewhere very special. It's a perfect place for a romantic getaway.
Also, the location is ideal. You're close enough to Puerto Viejo to get there in car and even on bikes in a matter of minutes. You're also only minutes away from some of the most beautiful beaches you'll find anywhere. During the week, huge expanses of beach can be almost your own.
We are already planning our next trip to Puerto Viejo to experience the most friendly people I've ever met anywhere, eat delicious local food, and experience our new found Caribbean paradise. We will definitely be staying here again when we do. Can't wait to be living the Pura Vida again and see our new friends Tania and Herni. I highly recommend this home to any couple looking for the perfect Caribbean getaway.

We enjoyed our stay at Villaskasha. Tania welcomed us with fruits and coffee, and she was very accessible to communicate with. The house was very clean, the kitchen was equipped with basic amenities, and the pool was very refreshing. The property is on a quiet residential road, and is a good location to access the beaches, restaurants and markets. I recommend staying here!

I would highly recommend this place if you're looking for a place away from (but not too far from) the crowds and noise of the main street. Hearing only the wildlife of the surrounding jungle is delightful. Love the open air feel of the house and the plunge pool is perfect for cooling off. Even though the owners are on the property, they're very discreet about allowing your complete privacy. Walking to the beach and nearby shops is easy if you don't mind a little uphill climb on the way back. Really not bad, though.

Waking up to the sounds of parrots and howler monkeys has reset my spirit. This villa has everything you need for a relaxing stay. It's very private but close to everything. Our host we're very accomadating and will suggest beaches, tours and restaurants. This is our 6 trip to Costa Rica and 3rd trip to Puerto Viejo. I would definitely come back to Villa Kasha and definitely recommend to others. 2 weeks was not enough. Pura Vida!!

Things that are nice:
We recently stayed in this property for 10 days on our trip to Costa Rica. This little house is situated right next to the owners home and a fifteen minute walk away from the Beach and the Supermarket, a twenty minute walk away from bars and restaurants, making it a great place if you want to have access to the Caribbean lifestyle without needing a car or a taxi when you want to go somewhere. The house is also surrounded by beautiful trees and animals (birds, monkeys, etc.) can often be seen from the balcony.
Things to improve:
There were no food basics in the home, meaning no salt, pepper, flour, oil, etc. This meant that on our first night we had to buy all of these things in order to actually be able to cook, these items rarely come in travel size so it was a bit expensive to buy these things for the 10 days we were there. We stay on many trips like these and they are usually included.
There are no washers or dryers on site, they were in the owners home and it was actually a service you had to pay for at the cost of 10$ US per wash cycle. We felt this was very expensive so we only washed our sheets, towels and a bit of clothes once after a few days and it cost us 30$...
Expect bugs, because there are no screens on any of the windows and the bugs are attracted to light.
The Real Issue:
The home is just a few years old but not everything works perfectly. The shower barely spouts water, because all of the holes are blocked by mineral deposits. Same thing with the the kitchen faucet.
On our third day we tried washing some of our own things in the bathroom sink and the sink stopper got stuck in the pipe when we pressed on it to stop the water, we didn't use force or anything, we used it quite normally. By the scuff marks on the stopper, we could tell this was a recurring issue and many people had tried unblocking it with knives to get it unstuck before. When we told the owners, they got angry and said this had happened before, but they wanted us to pay to change it...
We are nice people, we would never break anything in someone's home, we just used something normally and it got stuck. We refused to pay for something that was poorly designed. They eventually said they wouldn't charge us and the plumber told them they needed to change it anyways. But, this made the stay tense as we were afraid to use anything after that. We feel this issue was handled poorly by the owners and it made us feel stress during our vacation.

Great place, very clean, comfortable bed and really well arranged living area that opens to the private pool. It's pretty amazing how this place feels like you are in the middle of the jungle and yet you are so close to Puerto Viejo's beach life, bars and restaurants!
Owners were delightful to talk to, and were very caring and helpful.
We will definitely come back!

Located within walking distance of the beach, this house is nestled in a gorgeous jungle setting. Owners Tania and Henri were perfect hosts and we were welcomed with a lovely fruit basket and coffee to get us started on our 9 night stay. While they live on the property, the guest house is perfectly private and we enjoyed the seclusion and opportunity to create some of our own meals. The plunge pool is the perfect touch. We recommend this casa to couples who enjoy being independent, adventurous and the open concept house.

Our stay was AMAZING! The property is simply beautiful and extremely relaxing! Tania and Henry were very kind and gracious hosts. The coffee was delicious and the large fruit basket on our arrival were a special and unexpected touch.
The home was very clean, bright, inviting and better than the photos! My tip would be to bring your own beach towels as only two were provided. Out of courtesy we weren't comfortable taking their towels to the beach. They did provide a cooler which I considered very convenient and thoughtful. You also might want to pack some comfy shoes to wear only in the home.
This is a convenient location to all that is wonderful in the area. Punta Uva was our favorite beach as it was a little less busy and the prettiest. eat at Bread and Chocolate for breakfast/lunch and Flip Flop for dinner. Trust me!
Nothing beats sitting back and listening to/watching the rain and environment on the lounge chairs. I highly recommend staying at this location. It really felt like a home away from home. You really can't beat the beauty of the home, decor, view, and hospitality. This place embodies the "Pura Vida" sentiment exactly! Enjoy!!!

This modern Japanese inspired home is very utilitarian and perfect for two or a small family of three. It has the basic amenities that you need barring an oven or microwave. The neutral tones and minimalistic decor complimented the lush and colorful landscape. This efficiency is conveniently located in Cocles near the beach (easy Costa Rican walk) and grocery store. There is semi-gourmet grocery store in Punta Uva, a short bike ride. Puerto Viejo is approximately 8 minutes away accessible via bike or car. However, a rental car is not necessary. We traded our 4x4 in for a car, then bikes. Mopri (get the fish soup!), Monli (eel) and Koki's Beach (happy hour and octopus) were our favorite dinner and lunch spots. We also made homemade ceviche with fish from the pescaderia to the right of Mopri (under same awning). We liked that the house was not in the heart of Puerto Viejo. Everyone rides bikes there (most are under the influence :) ), so you will need to exercise patience. Our favorite beach was Punta Uva, which was a 10 minute bike ride. Rent a kayak, near Selvin's restaurant and go out snorkeling. Playa Negra is a beautiful black beach located when you first get into PV, but there is no shade. Tania and Henri were very nice and unobtrusive hosts with a strong network of cab, shuttle, restaurant and beach info. Tania is a chocolatier, selling her sweets to local shops and restaurants. She greeted us with a small taste upon arrival! We recommend this casa (and her chocolates)!
