The property setting was fantastic,overlooking sea and surrounding valley and trees.It is quite a unique place been so high,it perfectly placed for visiting the north,west,and South West of the island.Not far maybe a 20 minutes drive down to Calhetta beach.Watching the clouds travel up the valley was quite magical.The properties are contemporary inside,with beautiful wood with the modern furnishings.The properties are private from each other ,a few on different levels,you are not overlooked the way it is set out,and the outside is very nice to sit out and relax.The indoor pool area is a decent size and the temperature was good,not to warm or humid,as outside was very hot in july.Air conditioning effective,Netflix to sign into your own account.Wifi/internet good.Comfy king size beds.Great host communication.

Set in an idyllic location, however, when we were there the views were sometimes shrouded by the clouds rolling down off the top of the mountain. The property was especially ideal for walkers as there was plenty too see and do. The property is well equipped with all the necessary household appliances to make the stay enjoyable. Both the bedrooms and bathroom are of a high standard and would equal that of a 5 star hotel. It was an ideal place to base yourself on the island.

A little remote though the was a great restaurant, bar and shop all within walking distance.

The house was spacious and clean. The views were spectacular and the pool was an added bonus.

The beds and pillows were a little uncomfortable but overall it was amazing. The drive up to the house is nerve wracking because it’s all uphill but doable !

Great apt. Wonderful view , and so many flowers. Very spacious and very clean. Very good location. Cristina is the nicest most generous host we've ever met. There was a wonderful welcome package waiting for us with the local fresh bread, cheese, cookies fruit and wine. In the bath room there were little tooth brushes and paste. If possible ask for the 1st row cabins. Great restaurant- engenho velho hotel .

The pool is not warmed. Shower a little challanging- with 2 taps- one for cold water and one for hot.

Stunning property, quiet and very peaceful. Very well equipped and lovely details such as soft blankets on the sofa and outside chair. Toiletries a great hairdryer AND straighteners in the bathroom. Stunning views to wake up to.

Accomodation was amazing. Swimming pool next to our house blown our minds. House was very clean, all appliances were new and there was everything we needed. Welcome gift was an amazing surprise. We highly recommend it.

Rochao village was an amazing experience, the terrace was incredible with lovely views and extremely private. It felt like you had your own private swimming pool. Welcome basket of goodies was a really nice touch. Would recommend to anyone.

Very cozy and peaceful cottage on the top of a hill. if you like quietness and solitude this is a place to be. The island has generally great infrastructure and roads, so for us it was not a problem to drive around even if the place is quite remote. The cottage is fully equipped with everything you may need. View from the terrace is beautiful. We had a very warm and friendly welcome by Garry on the Christmas Eve. Thank you for everything, we loved our stay and hope to come again!

Small thing: bathroom is big and in winter season it’s cold and remains very humid, it would be great to have a portable heater there for shower times. the bed and pillows were not very comfortable for us.

Everything was perfect ,the house, full equipment with really everything like mixer, iron, wash machine, kitchen etc. Great terrace view with blanket to lay down evening . We’ve landed very late and had welcome pack with bread, wine , meat and fruits that’s save us for dinner and breakfast. great center location of an island. Much better stay than later 3 days spent in Funchal . Definitely recommend

Loved the place. The chalet is spacious, with views and a nice terrace. We enjoyed the privaye view of the sunset. The house has everything a family needs, and a well equipped kitchen. It was made sure we feel comfortable and have everything we need beyond expected- baby equipment, snacks and more. Would love to come back!

I would change is the rail in the terrace.. such an amazing view! Glass railing would make the experience perfect.

location is little bit high up the hill, the weather is often foggy.

The chalet is very comfortable and tasteful, we didn't miss anything. And what a warm welcome. A basket full of goodies helped us out. My son and I enjoyed our holiday. Don't worry about the steep roads, it's surprising at first but you get used to it (we did well to hire an automatic). The garden is much greener than on the pictures.

The adorable place, very comfy, with all the facilities we require. The views are adorable! We had neighbours in the nearby cottages, but we only saw their cars a few times and never heard them, so no one disturbs you in this peaceful place. There is a shared BBQ area in a separate building, and we used it once. It looked so huge for our small family :) The pool is also ok, but you have so much to do at Madeira that there is almost no time for swimming pool. And of course, thanks for the welcoming basket and clear procedure of check-in/check-out.

The only "contra" I could invent is that we prefer to have 2 blankets on our double bed (one per person) and here we had only one.So maybe it would be nice to put one extra blanket for people like us (just in case).
