Rodrigo is the best. He provided us everything we need for the baby (crib, high chair, stroller, car seat). He also provided us a lot of guidance regarding what we can see around and where to eat. He is answering fast on any questions. We’d recommend our friends to stay at the Mateus House

Mateus House offers everything two people may want for holidays. We hardly ever used the well equipped kitchen due to the offerings of the local food places... Mateus House is located at the shoreline walk that connects the two beaches of Porto da Cruz. The immediate neighbor building is the historic Rum factory "Engenhos do Norte" where you can taste a variety of Rums and different Ponchas at reasonable prices; on the opposite side of Mateus House, within less than 50m distance, the best restaurant in Town "Bar a Pipa" offers a variety of fish dishes. Truly the best place of Mateus House is its rooftop terrace; in the mild November sun, we spent hours on the top of the house and enjoyed a cozy afternoon with or with delicious drinks. Within 10 min driving, several levada walks can be started. Going east, beyond Caniçal, Madeira's land's end invites to walk for some hours or just visit the nearest beach. Even Funchal, Madeira's capital, is only 35 min by car. Rodrigo is the perfect host. He did not only receive us with all the explanations about Mateus House and its history, he had excellent recommomendations about activities, and finally he noticed my wife's birthday with a very nice souvenir... Muito obrigado, Rodrigo!

Time was running too fast. We have to return to fully experience the nice location and its surrounding. We stayed one week and found it would have been worth staying longer.

The location is superb with a beautiful beach nearby. The host provides good tips for what to do and see. The place is also very clean and well equipped. Definitely would recommend it.

As it's close to a popular restaurant and bar the streets can be noisy sometimes.

Mateus house is a great accommodation in Porto da Cruz. The host is very friendly and responsive. The interior is nice, modern and complete - everything relevant is available. The house is spacious (two floors) and in addition offers a large terrace on the top. The location in the heart of Porto da Cruz is wonderful.

We really enjoyed our stay at Mateus House. The property had great location - close to the beach, pools, restaurants. House itself was spacious and clean, all the necessary facilities were available. The roof-terrace was our favorite place. The owner Rodrigo was very kind and helpful. We felt really welcomed :)

The property is brilliant! Stunning views from the rooftop terrace. Lots of extras like bikes, surfboard,... . The location is outstanding. 2 beaches, swimming pool, 5 restaurants, bakery, ... . All reachable within a 1 minute walk.

The house is very comfortable and the hosts pay a lot of attention to details to make the stay very enjoyable. The house is clean and a couple minutes walk to the beach and to the restaurants in the village. There is a nice roof terrace.

Rodrigo was a wonderful host! The house is very unique and it has a great vibe. The location is perfect for exploring Porto da Cruz. The beach is less than 5 min walking distance and we spend quite a lot of time there just watching the waves and surfers.

The sliding ceiling "door" for roof terrace was a bit loud. But this is such a minor thing. Also available parking spots were a bit hard to find occasionally (but eventually we succeeded every time)

Mateus House stays in a small village with a great location, just a minute from the beach, bakery and the best restaurant "A pipa". You can find everything that you need in the house: bbq sets, bikes, surf and body boards, beach towels and an umbrella, an iron, and a good wifi connection. A roof terrace is an amazing place for a glass of wine with mountains and an ocean view. We definitely will come back!

Among all the places we visited in Madeira, Porto da Cruz is by far the most beautiful: small typical village, breathtaking cliff view, local people, some very good places to have a drink or to eat, one little natural beach and a wonderful surf spot just nearby. Staying at Mateus house is the opportunity to enjoy a terrace at the epicentre of that village. The house is large, incredibly well equipped (bbq, bikes, surfboard, bodyboard, washing machine, blender, etc.), comfortable, cosy, calm... One point that is worth mentioning is the wifi speed, we observed more than 200Mbps bandwidth which was more than convenient for remote working. Mateus and Rodrigo welcomed us very warmly and everything went well. We had a great time there and we look forward to coming back again!

We enjoyed the light, the space and the comfort in Mateus House very much and had a great time in Porto da Cruz. The location of the place is perfect, very close to the local bakery and the beach, for example, with a wonderful view from the big terrace to the mountains and the sea. The house is well equipped with everything you need during a vaccation (even surfboards and bikes).

There is some noise during the day fom the rum distillery next door. They start quite early in the morning.

Mateus House was the best choice we could make heading to Madeira. The location, the view, the roof deck (we've had our breakfasts there and don't get me started about glass of wine every evening - that scenery!). I feel like we spend a week in the best house in the best little city od Madeira. Everything was there - any appliance you could think of, washing mashine, dishwasher, bikes. Every room was comfortable and convenient. Fantastic seafood restaurant just around the corner. I'm not the one to like everything, but honestly I can't find any scar on this perfect image.

Mateus House is a beautiful and spcaious apartment right in the center of the town, 50 meters from the beach. Still, it was very quiet and perfect for relaxation. The apartment has an amazing rooftop terrace, we enjoyed having breakfasts and dinners there. Our host, Rodrigo was super nice and gave us tips regarding surfing (Porto da Cruz is great for surfing).

Very nice place with an awesome rooftop. Equipped with everything you can think of - bicycles, surfboard, lot of tools in the kitchen, etc. Good location in small town with little grocery store and few restaurants, near the beach.

Excellent comfortable appartement with a wonderful roof terrace. And a friendly, attentive and very helpful host. New year's fireworks in Funchal were awesome!
