Beautiful house in a perfect location. Walking distance to bookstore, coffee, bakery, beach, grocery store. We launched our kayaks from the boat dock down the street. We did lots of cooking and baking - the kitchen has everything you need.

Beautiful home with great views. Short walk to the cute village and shops and restaurants. Easy access to the many wonderful sites on the island. 15-20 minute to ferry.

This is our second time staying at the property and we loved it even more the second time. It is in the most amazing location and is simply magical. We stayed as a family of 4 with two young children and had everything we needed. Place is very clean and tidy. Can’t wait to stay again!

The homestead on the shore was an amazing place, picturesque, beautiful living spaces, open kitchen, modern with old charm, and the view!! House is very walkable to grocery store, farmers market, and all the shops in town. It was a very relaxing place, highly recommend.

this is the best rental on orcas . . .and I've stayed in many! We often struggle with just one rental car, but not in this location because everything in town is around the corner! I hesitate to review this rental because I want to be able to book it in the future and when more people find out, it will get booked up a year in advance. Incredibly clean, stocked with everything that one needs, nice and bright!
If you want to feel isolated this might not be the rental for you because you're in the thick of the goings on of town, but for us that was ideal!

My family and I loved our stay at this house. The location is perfect - you can walk to restaurants, stores, the farmers market...whatever you need in Eastsound, while still feeling like you're in a private spot with a beautiful view of the sound. The house is really nicely done - the furnishings are beautiful and the kitchen and bathrooms are well stocked. I would absolutely stay here again.

What a wonderful house! Beautifully constructed and conveniently located close to town yet very quiet, our family of four adults and two kids loved our time here. The spacious and well-appointed kitchen with a Wolf range made family meal prep so much fun and drinks and dinner on the deck as the sun set was a resulting treat. Coffee, restaurants and bars, galleries and groceries all within walking distance are a special experience. A couple of minor glitches with the house were promptly and courteously addressed by the owner’s team which provided excellent customer service. Highly recommend this outstanding property. Looking forward to a return in the near future.

This property is truly magical—Incredible views from inside and outside; beautiful interior with lovely furnishings and well-appointed with everything one could possible need for a comfortable stay; very conveniently located in the heart of Eastsound, yet very quiet.

Beautiful views in excellent location.
Very comfortable and relaxing. Plenty of room to cook together in a large open kitchen. Enjoyed sitting by the fire pit and watching the birds and water.

Wonderfully and newly remodeled classic homestead.
Homestead is a beautiful place. Originally built in 1909, it has been perfectly remodeled to capture its classic essence while still bringing modern conveniences. With excellent south and westerly views, the sunlight filled many rooms during our December 2021 stay there. We went just after a severe snowstorm, but our host, Susan, made sure the lights and heat were already on when we arrived. The cold temperature was at first a challenge for the classic house, but the new heating units installed in the remodel (we were the first renters!) worked really well, despite a chill factor equal to 3 degrees outside.
Homestead is located right in Eastsound. Everything, including the store and bakery, is less than a 2 minute walk. Given the snow, the town of Eastsound was mostly closed up, but it was still a pleasant visit and a beautiful setting.
Homestead included everything you could want. Wonderful decorating; luxurious bedding and towels; thoughtful touches like throw blankets galore; a well provisioned kitchen with all new appliances; bookshelves and reading nooks everywhere; and perfectly functioning wifi.
With the cold, we were unable to use the deck (with its barbeque) or the covered gazebo (with its firepit). However, I am sure in warmer months, they will be a huge part of the expereience.
Our only regret would be that the large hearth in the middle of the great room was not a fireplace (populated with candles instead). That would have been a perfect touch during the cold days we stayed there.
The host, Susan, was professional, solicitious and helpful in every respect. We highly recommend this property and hope to return again.

Location, location, location
We were in Eastsound for a wedding. Everything was so close that it was within walking distance. Good restaurants ( The Island Skillet, Lunas, Mijitas, and Lower Tavern to name a few. We enjoyed our stay at the Homestead very much. Thank you?

Weekend Review
This is a lovely home, clean, well -appointed, and near the center of town. Great space for dining, food preparation and outdoor entertainment. Owner answered my questions quickly. Would recommend.

Perfect home base for family wedding
We were getting married at Odd Fellows hall just down the street and this spot could not have been more perfect. Plenty of bed space for our immediate family and an intimate rehearsal dinner in the back yard, spacious enough that you could find a quiet spot to sit and nap or reflect while others were coming and going, gorgeous views - overall a beautifully well-kept historic home. You’re also just a few steps from all the best stores and restaurants in Eastsound. Already wishing I can invite my entire family and do it all over again at this house!

Excellent location
Accommodated my family of 11 comfortably. We loved the large outdoor space for gathering of family and friends, and the easy walk to grocery and shops/galleries. On day 2 of our four day stay, the upstairs bath/shower leaked through to the dining room and was quickly addressed by management although we lost the use of one bathroom. Overall, a lovely place for making memories!

Great for a family gathering
Susan was very easy to work with. We really enjoyed the beautiful view of Eastsound, the fire pit, a nice place for outdoor games, and a well equipped kitchen. Such a great location, mid island and close to the grocery store, and shopping.

Fantastic getaway!
We had an amazing stay! The house was as advertised. Charming, cozy, great location steps from shops, restaurants and market. Beautiful ocean-front view! There were 7 of us and we were more than comfortable. Would definitely be our #1 choice again if we go with big group.

Beautiful home in perfect location
This large and charming house is just around the corner from the main street in Eastsound. We never had any problem with noise even though the town was busy during the day. Within two blocks, we found a great bakery, supermarket, pizza, and some fun shops. Beach access was around the corner, though tree limbs washed up by winter storms had blocked the stairs. We found safer access at the other end of town, just a block away. The house itself was well-maintained, very clean, and well-supplied. One note here is that the beds and dishes were high—a bit awkward for us shorties. The beautiful setting made me feel like I was in a Sunset Magazine feature story! Kitchen, one bedroom, and the large back deck overlooked the beach and water. The spacious outdoor dining area gave us stunning views, and we loved the adirondack chairs gathered around the outdoor fire pit. We had five children (ages 9 through 1) in our group of 11 (ages 9 through 1) and they had lots of room to run in the yard. This property is very special, and we would jump at the chance to stay there again.

We were at the Homestead for two nights. 8 of us didn’t want to leave. A great venue. Very clean.
We drew for rooms. Everyone liked what they drew. Even the bunk bed couple. Eastsound is small so we walked all over town. We had a great breakfast at the Skillet. The house is well maintained and very clean. My friends kept thanking me for finding the Homestead.

Weekend at The Homestead
The Homestead was the perfect place for gathering our extended family to celebrate my wife's 70th birthday. The sleeping accommodations were ample and comfortable for the ten of us (plus an infant). The kitchen was well equipped and didn't lack anything essential. The utensils were of good quality, not the usual Ikea stuff. The location is great, only a short walk from the downtown area of Eastsound, and the view of the water was beautiful and restful. We would stay gain at The Homestead in a heartbeat.

Beautiful, exceptionally convenient property
We had a wonderful time- the property was perfect for having young children- beautiful views from the deck after they've gone to bed and the convenience of the town on your doorstep. Everything went smoothly and everyone was extremely friendly. Highly recommended.

My family recently stayed at The Homestead for several days. We loved the home, it met all our expectations and then some. We liked the in-town location, but also having access to the waterfront. Our six-year-old and his grandma loved collecting beach glass just down from the house. The owners were most responsive to any questions we had. We look forward to our next visit there and fully recommend The Homestead. By the way, we have rented VRBO homes several times, have never had a bad experience, but this was our favorite of all those we have rented.

Our two small families loved this quaint little place right on the water and right next to the village of Eastsound. Everything is updated and the house provided all we needed. Walking distance to town and the grocery store was great. The morning low tide walk out to Indian Island let the kids see crabs and starfish galore! Afternoon and evening sun on the deck was amazing.
The owners helped assure me that everything would go smoothly and it certainly did. This property made our Orcas getaway into an amazing trip.
