Was my husband and I and four kids ages 15-24 and two boy /girlfriends. There was plenty of room for everyone to spread out. The house was very clean and well cared for. There were many extras provided such as bikes, boogie boards, beach chairs, a wagon, games, cornhole, every kitchen dish, appliance, or utensil was there, also an extensive dvd collection that two of my kids really enjoyed. We really enjoyed having our own pool hot tub, and pool table. When we arrived we were greeted by a nice welcome package, with some nice gifts that we could use on our vacation. The home owner also had a magnet on the fridge that says take a picture of this and take it to local bagel shop and get a free dozen bagels as a gift from the homeowner. They came in many great flavors and were loved by all. The beach was a straight shot, 5 min walk away, there is a wooded path that takes you straight there. This was the best rental we’ve stayed in.. after a near perfect vaca,was frustrating that we were sitting in the car in the driveway 6 minutes after check out time we were given, and my husband getting directions set up and then my son realized he left his phone in the house so my husband had went back in to get it and when he got back someone pulled in the driveway and yelled at us that it was after checkout time.we apologized, Also I was unsure from directions provided where to put the sheets so I called the rental company and they said to leave them outside near the front door since there wasn’t an empty bin there, which we did, and she yelled at us for that too which I explained that that was what I was told to do. I was so upset this woman was so unhappy with me when i thought I left everything in the same if not better care than we found it, and I was getting yelled at. She did quickly apologize after she saw I was upset but still frustrating.there was also a problem a broken fan and the door lock not working but they promptly sent someone to take care of it.

Beach Dreams was perfect for our family. The room configuration is excellent. Most everything was thought of with the family in mind. As a rental unit owner ourselves, may we suggest that the home supply bath mats and more than one dish towel. Also, the description and the rental agent told us there were no bikes, beach chairs or wagons. All of these were at the home. Wish we knew before we brought our own bikes and beach chairs. Everything else was very good.

House was filthy, had to clean the day we arrived. Cobwebs on lights, food in cushions of furniture, top of dressers dusty, beach umbrella broke, beach chairs moldy and broken, mold on bottom of shower on main floor, dried food on clean utensils, cockroaches, skimmer for pool broken, towel holder broken, pool table old and not useable, door would not lock on upper level to screened in porch area, front patio, patio to pool area as well as pool area full of dried leaves, dried crusted food on kitchen floor, tiki bar area dirty, cigarette butts all over, empty beer cans and dried leaves in tiki bar area, we weren’t able to enjoy tiki bar, chairs along pool broken, outside picnic table dry rotted, pool area dirty, bikes all thrown in a pile and broken, the list goes on.

I will say the house was very well stocked with kitchen supplies and tons of beach gear ( bikes, carts, beach chairs, boogie boards -all of which we used). All beds were surprisingly comfortable. You get a lot with location, pool, hot tub, rec room, beach gear for what you pay for. However, this house NEEDS some attention and then it could possible be a 5 star rental. The carpet is dirty with stains and should be pulled up immediately. The dishwasher stopped working the second day. Rental company was notified and they sent a general maintenance guy out that said he couldn’t fix it and he would call an appliance guy. No one ever came back to fix it. So we had to wash dishes for 11 people the rest of the week - cause you can’t use paper for everything. We noticed the pool light was out and told the pool guy and he said he never heard from the rental company at all so it was probably out “for awhile”. The most disturbing thing we found was cockroaches. Our kids found them in the utensil drawer and the next day we saw a couple crawling in the screened in porch as we were trying to relax. I looked for cleaning supplies and under the kitchen sink there was a bottle of cockroach spray already there. So, it must be known there is a problem, yet it has not been corrected. After that I didn’t want to be in the house at all. We slept with a towel under our master bedroom door to help stop any bugs since it was so close to the kitchen.

My family and I enjoyed our week at this house! The pool was a hit, it was nice to go to the beach for the day and come back to the house to go swimming at any time. The walk to the beach was short and there are plenty of beach chairs, toys, bikes etc. I definitely recommend staying here!

I’ve stayed in outer banks before and had wonderful experiences. This property is a mess. I’m hoping there is a place in this review to add photos. First of all, the hot tub was green and smelled like a fish tank. They did come fix it after a day but they made the comment they don’t treat it when it rains. The pool was nice but looks much larger in photos. It’s actually pretty narrow. Everything in the house was falling apart. The washer only worked half the time. The dryer made a horrendous noise and burnt all of my daughter and my sisters clothes and bathing suites. All the smoke alarms were beeping. The blender was broken. The couch smelled like feet. Carpet on the stairs desperately needed replaced. The worst part was the bikes. My brother in law had to put air in all of the tires. They had rust on them. The tires fell off one of them. Another bike completely fell apart while my son was on it and he took a very nasty spill resulting in road rash and very deep abrasions that kept him out of the pool and ocean the rest of the week. The blankets in the closet were dirty. The mattresses in the bunk bed and lower part of the home were terribly uncomfortable. For the price, I do not recommend this place.

We had a great time together staying a week at Beach Dreams. The kitchen was a little small for a group of 13. We loved the pool & short walk to the beach. Overall our stay was wonderful & we would definitely stay here again.

DO NOT USE! We checked in Saturday evening, took a quick look around and was happy with things. After we put all groceries away, got settled and we’re about to head to bed, the smoke detector started chirping. I called the office and had to leave a message. We found some batteries in the hutch and changed the smoke alarm. Fine.
Sunday morning the office called and asked if they could send out maintenance to change the battery. I told her we changed it last night, couldn’t sleep with the beeping/chirping. They called right back and said that someone was coming to service the washer and dryer either Monday or Tuesday, it wasn’t working properly and wanted to make sure it was ok if they came in while we were not there. Of course!!!
Tuesday night I started a load of laundry, it pulled steamy hot water while the setting was on cool and stopped working. I again called. Oops! We need a appliance repair technician. Should be there by Thursday.
I had to call to check status and everything was later, later. While out and about I stopped by the office Thursday and Kaitlyn was SO rude!!!!!! I’ve been patient and kind and her energy was so incredibly repulsive!
Having a washer in a house of 9 people is a necessity, like having a working fridge!
When I asked about a refund or credit from Megan or to speak to a manager, no one could be bothered to call me back. I had 2 in my party to leave early because they ran out of clothes.
I was told Friday night no refund would be given.

Overall, we had a good experience. The house was clean, and we were able to get in early. It was plenty spacious for our group. The management company was helpful and responsive whenever we had questions. The couches and beds could use an upgrade as they were very saggy. Almost all the bikes had flat tires or otherwise didn’t work, so were not useful. The outdoor area near the pool wasn’t very kept – cobwebs and weeds growing made it feel the area doesn’t get a lot of attention. None of the areas of improvement ruined our good time. The location was great, just a few minutes to activities and shopping, even in the quieter northern section of the island. We would return to this house.

The house is in a nice community and convenient to shops and restaurants, with a 5 minute walk to the beach. The house is pretty much as represented and includes many amenities such as beach chairs and almost everything you’d need for the kitchen. We had a little problem with bugs, but the property manager sent exterminators out quickly. Overall, we had a very nice stay.

Property worked out great for our group of 13. Plenty of room. Pool and hot tub helped entertain the kids while not at the beach. Was cleaned up to expectations, was able to get in more than an hour early. Only issue was lack of provided towels, not enough for our group.

property has a great location. added bonus that linen is included. house interior needs a good cleaning and updating but it is OK. Pool deck has beach buckets full of cigar butts and buckets of used charcoal ash. just over all dirty. area where bikes and beach chairs are kept same thing, dirty. a lot of money to rent but poor up keep. even the old reviews say the same thing, poor up keep. we were late renting so we didnt have a lot of choices. Would not rent this place again.

Ocean Sands Vacation
Ocean Sands was a great place to have our family vacation. The amenities were as listed. The kitchen is well stocked with plenty of dishes, pots and pans, etc.
The upper level had lots of space for family gatherings and meals! The pool and hot tub were clean and very nice!

Better than the listing pics.
The property was nicer than is pictured in the listing. The house had a well equipped kitchen and there were many handy items to add to our enjoyment like bikes/carts/beach chairs etc. They were well used but made it so we didn't have to rent, so that was nice. I do wish the trees were cut away from the volleyball court. It was an attractive feature for our group but went unused as a result. Bathmats would also have been appreciated along with the towel and linens provided. Quick walk to the beach and short drive from everything. Nice place overall for our group.

Getaway
There was plenty of space for the 12 of us to spread out. We utilized the pool, hot tub and pool table daily. Unfortunately the basketball hoop was broken and tree branches covered part of the sand volleyball court when we arrived, so neither was usable. The wagon, cart and beach chairs were great for our days at the beach. Shopping, restaurants and activities were only a 5 minute drive. The carpets and bedspreads need a good cleaning otherwise everything was great. The outside decks and seating made it nice to enjoy the sunrise, read a book or spend time together. We thoroughly enjoyed the Lighthouse bagels.

Neighbors had parties almost every night until 2:00 am.
Prior renters didn’t clean grill, left shrimp shells in grill. Also, fridge downstairs had shrimp juice which we cleaned out with bleach. They also left butt buckets filled with cigarette butts. We are non-smokers.
Inside everything was perfect.

All-in-all it was a fabulous week. The only issue we really had was with the pool maintenance guy and his attitude. Tried to explain that the pool looked foggy since we arrived, but he would not listen. The pool did seem to leave a trace of something on the skin to where you would want to shower right after, but was not bad enough to ruin the fun for the week.

Overall we liked the house. Hurricane Dorian forced us to evacuate a couple days of our 2 week stay. The TV's in the house are old and should be replaced. The mail TV in the living area went dead the final 2 days of our stay and maintenance could not figure out why. Annual Family Vacation
My family and I enjoyed our stay and were really happy with the condition and location of the house. It's a 5 min walk to the beach and a mile away from stores. When we arrived we were very satisfied with the condition of inside the house. It was very clean and well stocked, especially the kitchen. There were plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms to comfortably fit us all which was a huge plus. We did encounter some issues with the TV's...too many remotes and some TV's didn't even get a signal, maybe it was user error..but between 6 adults we found it very difficult. The outside of the house needed a little help. In the areas around the front and side doors and pool area there were A LOT of spiderwebs and bugs. My boyfriend had to spend about 20 minutes hosing it down so we felt comfortable going in and out. Not a make or break scenario, but something that you don't want to have to do on vacation. The pool and hot tub were a big hit, and we enjoyed spending time on the screened in porch. Overall, we would definitely recommend Beach Dreams, it's clean and spacious and you cannot beat the location. As I mentioned above, the condistion of outside the house is the only reason we would give it 4/5 stars.

The outside of the house is filthy. It needs to be power washed and repainted. The numerous rusty, worn out bikes need to be removed. It’s very cluttered and there are bugs stuck all over the house. No wonder the owner didn’t post a picture of the front of the house!
The inside was filthy. It was obvious the cleaning crew didn’t do much more than change linens and empty trash cans. We called the property management company and thankfully they sent someone out to reclean. Afterwards, it still wasn’t clean by any stretch of the imagination, but I felt bad asking one girl to reclean the entire house by herself, when it wasn’t her job to do so in the first place (owner utilizes a private company to clean).
There were bugs squished everywhere on the inside walls.
There was mold by the doors in two bedrooms as well as on some of the air vents. The air filters were disgusting.
There is too much clutter in the kitchen. There are tons of dishes, glasses, pots and pans, but cabinets were overflowing with stuff and there was nowhere to store food. The clutter made it very difficult to find what was needed. The owner needs to clean out the kitchen – there is no need for 30+ place settings, etc.
The property management team was very accommodating. They sent someone out to reclean and had maintenance come change air filters, clean bugs off walls, replace nasty air vents, and clean up the mold. Sent a detailed message and pictures to Carolina Shores Had to clean and have cleaning crew come back and do children’s beds . Property not taken care of throughout Mold on outside Mold on shower doors and Curtain
Needed to be replaced Please contact Carolina Shores for pictures. It is evident that this is an investment property and they have done no updates as far as comforters Couch. Lots of clutter in Kitchen. I was embarrassed to have my family stay there. I just hope someone steps up and takes responsibility for these conditions I could go on but I know it is going to go on deaf ears . They have their money. It’s a good thing I’m not going to write a review on FB or trip advisor

We had the time of our lives!!!!
The property is very child friendly , Nice size bedrooms, bathrooms, and outstanding kitchen/living area. Great porches, pool and hot tub. The only disadvantage was it was the climb up and over the dunes. I would recommend this property to anyone who has small children and is able to climb steps over the doones.

OBX Trip
The house was perfect for our family! We enjoyed the pool and hot tub everyday! It was in walking distance from the beach- even for our little ones. We enjoyed staying here.
The only complaints we have are:
1- There were tons of spiders in the house.
2- Cigarette butts were left in buckets of sand outside.
3- There was nothing in the contract or online about not being able to have a small u-haul on property. Then when we go there, we were ticketed and had to store it. This cost our family $125. We did not plan for this expense.
