As the island continues to recover and rebuild from Hurricane Ian, this property suited our vacation accommodation needs. Ralph's communication prior to, during, and after our stay was top-notch. The pool provided an excellent alternative to the beach on hot days, and it was nice to relax and dine on the screened-in porch.

Ralph and Ana are amazing hosts providing amenities for a perfect beach house experience. We were able to enjoy the home/pool and did several local excursions. Cabbage Key was fun. Bowman's Beach has to be one of the nicest, cleanest, and uncrowded beaches in the US- what a treat. We enjoyed the peaceful neighborhood walks in the evenings and at dawn. I highly recommend this place!

Our family of 7 thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Sanibel Sand Castle. The house was spacious, never feeling crowded, and had everything we could have needed. Our host Ralph was only a phone call away and was super helpful with any questions we had. The backyard with the pool was our absolute favorite! Can't wait to return.

We loved our stay at Sanibel Suncastle! The house is as advertised but even better. The location is perfect. We really enjoyed the pool and the peaceful back porch. The family room was perfect for all of us to watch NCAA basketball games on the large tv. I would definitely stay at Ralph’s home again. It was a perfect long weekend getaway for our group of 3 couples.

We are a family of three generations and there is a spot for each of us to enjoy and be comfortable: the pool or pool side, upper and lower patios, and getting together for movies with the extra large tv screen. The house had everything we needed. Biking is the best way to get around Sanibel and this location is close to restaurants and shops (but far enough to be quiet). We loved biking to breakfast or dinner, and recommend visiting Sanibel's historical village. Thank you Ralph - we'll be back!

We thoroughly enjoyed our Sanibel stay. House is located in beautiful area close to stores, beach and causeway access. Backyard is beautiful with great views and wonderful pool. I’ve vacationed around the US and islands, and this was the BEST overall. The owner was amazing, responsive, and incredibly helpful. They had everything to start you up, supplies, etcetera (propane for grills, kitchen spices, chairs for beach) This was beyond helpful, given that we flew there. The heated pool, was great!!! My three grandchildren, as well as us, stayed in it for hours. The owner left ideas, which we took up (sunset amass dinner at the Mucky Duck), shelling at Bowmount, and I explored running.
I’d give this 5+. I told the owner I’ll be back. Amazing!!!!

Such a wonderful week in the paradise that is Sanibel! Ralph was a wonderful host and wanted to make sure we had fell in love with his house and with Sanibel - which we did! So many thoughtful touches - beach chairs, umbrella, and constant, warm communication really made this a place we hope to return to year after year. We loved sitting on the screened in back deck admiring the beautiful view, and all our favorite places were a stone's throw away. Highly recommend this inviting home and delightful host! Thanks again Ralph, for a fantastic experience!

My brother, my daughter, his son and I just got back from Sanibel and it was awesome. The house and the host were top shelf. House had everything we needed and more. Best Family Vacation Ever
We brought our children and grandchildren down to Sanibel for a much anticipated family vacation. The property and the owner could not have been any better! The house was even better than advertised, and the owner was beyond attentive and kind. We will definitely be back!

Very nice home, but could use a deep cleaning. Ants in master bedroom and bathroom upon arrival, and required constant cleaning and killing of ants. Many areas of cobwebs also. The pool was the highlight, and the backyard and patio area were amazing.

Wonderful Stay
Great location on the island. Very peaceful and relaxing neighborhood. We spent a lot of time relaxing in the backyard watching wildlife come and go and just enjoying the peacefulness, quiet and serenity of it all. Nice house with very large living room tv, which we enjoyed as well. Ralph communicated with us quite a bit before, during and after our stay to ensure everything was good for our stay, which we certainly appreciated. Great trip!

Beautiful home and area
My husband, my 15 year old son and his 15 year old buddy and his parents stayed at the house. Two bedrooms had king size beds and the 3rd bedroom had 2 queens which was perfect for us.. Tough to find a house with two kings.
The owners were super responsive, nice and gave great recommendations on what to do in the area.
Great backyard backing up to The Dunes golf course with large pool, grill and tons off sitting areas. Kitchen had everything.
Renting bikes is a must, since traffic in the area is a bit crazy. You can ride bikes to shopping and restaurants on the bike paths.
Highly recommend the house and area for a great vacation.

Great experience
We really enjoyed our stay :) Property is great as is location. Easy bike ride to the beach or into town for a meal:) House has all the necessary amenities and Ralph was a great property manager that communicated well every step of the way . He was knowledgeable about the community and helpful with suggestions for bikes, fishing, etc. Great experience overall ! I can see why people return.

Good experience
Our week stay at the property was an all-around good experience from the attentiveness of the owner to the heated swimming pool. Bicycling to the beach through the neighborhood was fun and safe for our 13 year olds. Ask Ralph for the directions. I would rent the house again.

Great Host, Great Place
Ralph, our host, was terrific- super responsive, helpful and interesting. House was perfect for a family of adults- plenty of space, nice pool and patio, BBQ area, dining area, everything. Good location near bridge was a bonus. We hope to stay here again.

Wonderful time in Sanibel!
The house has lots of room and has convenient acess to Periwinkle Way with a shortut to avoid traffic. The kitchen has everything you need and we enjoyed grilling oudoors and eating on the screened in deck watching the birds. We rented bikes and it is a short bike ride to beaches and to restaurants. The kids had fun in the heated pool every evening. Host is very responsive.

This is a great rental for a family. We loved having a private pool, patio, fire pit, and screened in porch! The location is excellent with quick access to beaches by bike. The neighborhood is quiet and easily accessible from the causeway. Great host! We would stay here again.

Everything you need for a perfect vacation
Sanibel Sun Castle has it all! Spacious, modern, clean home stocked with everything you might need including an expresso machine! Comfortable screened porch, fire pit, gorgeous pool and an outdoor shower with heated water. I don't think I'll ever take a shower inside again! Ralph was an impeccable host - responsive and accommodating. He really went out of his way to ensure my family had everything we needed for a memorable vacation. Ralph takes pride in the house and treats his guests as though they are personal friends. We hope to stay here again the next time we visit Sanibel Island!

Sanibel Vacation
This was our first time to Sanibel Island. We had a blast and the home was awesome. It was in a great location, had all the amenities that we needed. The owner was very friendly and checked on us several time to make sure we had everything we needed. We absolutely loved it and will be staying there again.

Private sanctuary on Sanibel
Had a wonderful week at Sanibel Sun Castle. Quiet neighborhood with a completely private backyard pool. Very unique for Sanibel. The beaches, both oceanside and soundside are a short 6 minute bike ride away. Ralph was an amazing host. Our communications with him were all fantastic--such a friendly and kind person. He loves his home and it shows! We would highly recommend this property.

Beautiful Property, great for family time
Ralph was super kind and provided timely and detailed information and suggestions. We really enjoyed the pool and all of the wildlife that frequented the yard (bunnies, birds, etc). Our stay was relaxing. The fountain in the back was so calming and beautiful. Lights, fans and fountains had convinient timers. Our kids loved the pool light that changed colors and beautifully lit the pool during the evening. Sunsets are amazing from the screened porch too. Great stay, great host, amazing property! Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Treated Like Family
From my first interaction with Ralph, I knew we were in good hands. The house is beautiful, the relaxation factor is a 10/10. But the level of comfort we received from the Penalvers, made us feel the mi casa es su casa feeling. Cant say enough about how gracious they were throughout the stay. The pool and the fountains added to the relax mode. This home is a great value for what is provided (pool especially) and we definitely hope to return for years to come.

Great house and a perfect location
We really enjoyed our stay at Sanibel Sun Castle. The house is perfectly located, with just a very short bike ride to the beach and multiple shops and restaurants. The house had everything we needed and Ralph, the owner, went out of his way to make sure we were well taken care of.

Beautiful pool
First, the owner, Ralph, was extremely responsive at all times. Pleasant, kind and helpful. The pool was wonderful, a big hit for us. The water was warm and the pool was very clean. The main living area was great with beautiful floors and adequate dining space. My request for next time would include additional cleaning/updating (the screens were quite dirty, some of the pots were dirty, updated bedspreads and blankets, updated outdoor cushions, beach chairs needed to be aired out, the dryer took an extra long time drying towels) and further pest control which the owner was addressing after we left. Overall though, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful Home, Wonderful Backyard
We spent a week in this lovely home. We have stayed in many homes all around the world and Ralph is the most attentive, helpful homeowner/property manager we have ever rented from. The pictures of the backyard are what made me want to stay here and it exceeded all of my expectations. The pool, gardens, firepits were all beautiful and greatly enjoyed. The home itself was very clean and cared for, which is very important to us, especially due to Covid. I really liked the decorations and all of the artwork. It felt like a true tropical getaway. I would definitely stay here again.
