The hotel is basic, yet friendly, clean and fairly well positioned in town. Check in was very quick as was check out. The hotel has a garage in the basement floor which cost €10 although there was also free parking outside. The room is basic, but clean and pretty much complete in what you need for a good night’s sleep and a nice clean shower in the morning. I didn’t try the breakfast so cannot comment. There are a couple of fairly good restaurants nearby, including El gaucho.

The staff is very friendly, the bathroom and the room was sparkling clean. Will definitely drop by next time I’m in Magdeburg :)

The beds are a bit hard :( The furnishing of the hotel is outdated but it does give it a nice vintage look :)

Mercure Hotel Plaza Magdeburg is easy to reach by car, and there is plenty of parking space. It offers everything you need for an overnight stay, at a low price.

The building and rooms are clean, but also a bit tired and sombre. Maybe it is the city itself: Magdeburg still bears visible scars of its Communist past and poverty.

Rooms where more or less clean (although when I picked up the phone to call the receptionist to request extra blanket, the dust rose in the air).

Both receptionists were not the most friendly and polite. Had a feeling that it cost them a lot to explain how to reach the parking (the one behind the hotel was not clearly visible as we arrived there around 23:00 and the board with the hotel name was not illuminated). Then the other staff did not even mention where to find the restaurant for our breakfast and what are the breakfast time slots. When it comes to rooms, the staff saw we arrived with 2 kids and our rooms were meant for 2 persons and still we had: 1 big towel, 1 blanket, 1 pillow and 1 cup for our tea. This had to be requested additionally. When it comes to breakfast, there were no tables available, no coffee and when we requested we had to wait long, no glasses for water / cold drinks. If it was price included I could be more understandable but we paid extra 25€ for that. It does not help when you are tired and arrived with kids. Parkin was on a field with no camera and no asphalt. We were still charged for it 5€.

Breakfast was very good and savoury. Sadly no vegan options. A good mixx of sweet and cheese/meat options.

Staff was very friendly and helpful even when understaffed.

The hotel is a bit dated and it shows, however nothing too extreme.

A relative long walking distance from reception to the rooms (you have to cross the yard restaurant). In case of individuals with large or heavy luggage it is a problem. The rooms have not air conditioning.
