The staff was polite the first few nights. The cleaning staff did clean after I asked them to (e.g. the handle of the washing machine was covered in old food, so i asked them to clean it and they did) It's nice that the cleaning staff leaves a bag with necessities if you leave the do not disturb sign on The location is convenient It was nice that we got a complimentary upgrade to our room

During checkout the man behind the counter just ignored us (did not look at us) while we were standing right in front of him, which is rude. If he were busy it is no problem if he tells us to wait a moment, but he was just looking at his colleague to the side in silence while we were standing right in front of him. He refused to look at us until i just placed the keycards on the counter. The toilet got clogged VERY regularly, even if we just flushed nothing to see if it flushed normally it would get very full. We called two times for maintenance to help us, until we got tired of it and just got a declogger ourselves. The maintenance man took a while to arrive every time as well. The room was unfortunately not clean. The handle of the washing machine and the microwave was covered in food. There were black hairs on the floor and around the toilet while we are blonde and red haired. There were brown stains on my blanket. The shower itself was not clean. There was an old bandaid on the shower wall and brown globs of whatever it was. The beds were uncomfortable. If you have back pains I don't recommend staying here. This was my fourth time staying at artnouveau, and while I knew that cleanliness wasn't always up to par, I thought that they were making progress. I was really happy with the free upgrade to the room, but disappointed with the rest. This was my last time staying here.

The location.

Probably one of the worst places I have ever stayed at. Rooms were ancient and very dirty (see pictures), the hallways smelled like a farmers market. The walls seem to be as thin as paper and it was very noisy until 3am, plus the AC was extremely noisy. If I would not have arrived pretty late and had and early flight, I would have been glad to pay cancellation fees and switch properties. It’s also highly questionable that Booking.com had this as special promotion / offer with 60% discount. I even consider not using booking anymore going forward, given this questionable practice and highly annoying incident.

excellent location within walking distance from Kangnam station, shops, convenience stores, buses, subway etc., also I got a free room upgrade compliments from the hotel

the room was quite dark, and had to turn on all the lighting even during the day.. the room was hot (but bearable) and I had to keep the window open as I wasn’t sure how to turn on the AC… I was there only for a few days mid May (it was 30 degrees C by the way)

The location was convenient for the Gangnam metro station.

Although the room has gold, mirrors, and (dusty) chandeliers everywhere, it's really less luxurious than several of the 2 star hotels that we stayed at in South Korea. Cheap feeling sheets, only 2 pillows and 2 bath towels, no robes, poor quality bath products, no hair conditioner, no counter space at all in the bathroom, really weak water pressure in the shower, and the place smelled like broccoli. All small things, but put them together and it makes you wonder what you're paying for. The decor really is the only "fancy" part of this hotel (and it's not actually in the art nouveau style).
