Loads of atmosphere,
such a pretty garden,
rooms were spacious and very clean.
The front door key system was unusual.

within walking distance to town and gorge, quiet location, comfortable bed and nice bathroom.
Room could be painted and freshened up. Furniture needed updating. No options for dining in.

The size of the bath was just amazing
That I couldn't stay longer 😂😂

Very spacious and comfortable rooms in a nicely renovated period building. Nice view over Launceston.

Very friendly and helpful reception upon arrival, the room was perfect for our needs and reasonably priced. The mini bar was extremely good value.
all was great

The absolute best feature in our room was the mammoth-sized bath! It was glorious. The location was great and the room was a good size for my son and I for our week's stay. I liked that I could connect my streaming services to the smart TV and the room's temperature control was good. The hotel staff also provided us with some additional utensils and appliances that made our stay a little more homely.
The room was a little dusty. But the staff were helpful when I mentioned this and we were provided with an air purifier for the rest of our stay. Additionally, given the fact the room has such a luxurious bath, it would have been nice to have some bath salts/bath bombs provided (in additional to the usual shampoo/conditioner/body wash hotel products).

The hotel is very nice with a beautiful garden. Make sure you go to the third floor balcony to have a panorama view of Launceston city.

We had a nice stay at this hotel. Easy parking in carpark on grounds out front. Pretty view from front entrance and rose garden. Older style building but beds are comfy and clean and bathroom was super clean with nice complementary bottles of things. Mini bar style fridge was stocked - we didn't buy anything but good if you felt peckish I guess. Kettle/crockery etc and tea/coffee/mini milks. Shower water was hot and four of us showered and it didn't run out, so presuming it's instant... Aircon in both bedroom and living room. We had four of us - two older teens shared the couch bed. They said it was fairly comfortable but it was a bit cramped in the living room once the couch bed was up - once it's expanded there's a small round table with two chairs in the corner but with luggage on the floor and you couldn't really use it. There were still clear walkways from the bedroom through the living room to the toilet though. So the living room is quite small - would be fine if not using the couch bed. However we could have moved luggage into bedroom and we knew it was going to be crowded in there once the bed was up but chose to keep luggage there for ease of access and chose that sleeping arrangement to save some money on our trip so we could stay at Cradle Mountain.
We were up one flight of stairs - nice gentleman at desk helped us take our luggage up in lift. The lift is apparently a bit tetchy for down trips (not dangerous, just buttons not responding correctly unless you press in a particular sequence) so he asked us to call him so he could manage it for our down trips, but we just carried our bags down the one flight. If we were up on the next floor though we'd have rung him and waited. Only about 5 minutes from most places in town (eg. monkeys, gorge, dinner) we wanted to go, so well located. Would stay again if two of us, but maybe would rethink with four.

Having stayed here 10 years ago we were keen to return. Back then we were treated like family. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. The rooms are very comfortable and there is very little outside noise, so very private.
The top floor has a lovely view over Launceston and as we had the last time we stayed; we were able to walk to a lovely Italian Restaurant just down the road. We also had breakfast at a nearby cafe, which we had again eaten at the last time we were there. Located at the top of town, on the way to the Gorge, this accommodation is quite a walk to the main part of town, so a car is needed if you want to explore.
After making an early booking for our stay and receiving confirmation that our rooms were to be together (two couples) and on the top floor, I was very disappointed with the complete lack of communication from the manager. With one room on the ground floor and the other on the third floor, I was frustrated that I had not received any indication of this change. When I spoke to the manager, he stated that he certainly had not sent any email that confirmed the rooms would be together. When I was able to show him this email, the response was "Oh but that was in August!" You would think there would be a difference between top floor with view and ground floor with an after-hour access door and pathway right outside your room. My other guest was a little embarrassed when they realised that the blinds on the windows were see through - including the bathroom, where people could walk past and see straight into the room. I understand that sometimes changers need to be made but I don't understand the total disregard to his previous confirmation of the upstairs rooms.
The check-in was very formal with another staff member instructing the operation of the key entry to the rooms. This is supposed to be a relaxing stay but both staff members were not at all welcoming. When I mentioned it was my husbands and mine anniversary, I was told I could buy a bottle of wine. Other photos of the rooms show chocolates on the beds, there was none and no offers to supply any. We loved our first stay here but sadly we would need to think about staying again. I have over the years given recommendations for friends travelling to Launceston to stay here, I doubt I would recommend it after this last visit. Yes, the motel is beautiful, but the staff need to treat their clients with more respect and certainly be a bit more welcoming.

Great large room with high ceiling. Super clean. Loved the window so I could open and have fresh air. Owner was very welcoming. Auldington was a convent so it is a unique property in Launceston and was wonderful to stay in. Highly recommend.
All good

Staff were very welcoming - it’s not often that you get escorted to your room
4.3
Historic old building walking distance from cafes and shops. You can even walk to Cataract Gorge, about 20 mins.
For the price you can’t complain too much!

James stayed late for us to check in, gave us great service. It was much appreciated.
We loved our brief stay.
4.3
location, cleanliness of room
Although the staff were welcoming and knowledgeable the first morning we were disturbed by house keeping at about 9:30 for room cleaning. The second morning when we were due to check out @ 10:00 at 09:15 there was a knock on the door to see if the room was available for cleaning. we felt as though we were being rushed. Something we had experienced before.

Lovely old building
There were no curtains in our room, just venetians, and the light was pouring in as the sun came up at about 5.30am.
My pillow was very very soft and the sheets did not feel fresh I think the washing detergent was very cheap or something..

the owners were welcoming, friendly & informative. the hotel was charming.
the lift wasn’t very reliable.

Friendly and efficient welcome by staff was appreciated. Spacious room in a quiet location. Appreciated being able to open a windows. Parking and access was easy, via small lift or stairs.
4.3
We like where it is situated walking distance to town
We thought we had our own private balcony. But there is.a.door for every one to use that backs up to.our room.so people would walk out there where the smokers would cough and cough. Apart from that . Everything else was good.
4.3
Big generous rooms. Nice bathroom. Air con and electric blankets. Large screen tv. Close to city centre and easy walk to gorge. Off street patking.
