North Hill is an absolute gem. On arrival you are greeted efficiently and in the most friendly manner. The rooms are beautifully decorated and equipped. Breakfasts are exceptional , as is eating from the a la carte dinner menu. Perfect stay, with the most delightful staff. Will definitely recommend and be back soon.

Location, service on arrival and room size, warmth and cleanliness were all great. Breakfast menu and food were to a high standard.

Perfect location lovely bar area for a drink. The English breakfast was excellent couldn't fault it. Lovely big comfortable bed and the shower was really powerful really happy with the room a perfect stay.

The room was nicely laid out and adequately furnished and the bed very comfortable. Being in an old hotel, in an old part of Colchester the floor retained the period property features! The staff were great, welcoming and friendly taking the time to find out about us and our reason for staying. The food however, passed our expectations and we can highly recommend The Green Room restaurant for the food and for the service, my steak was cooked to perfection and my wife enjoyed her fish too. The wine was excellent.

Unfortunately it was one of the hottest weeks of the year and the room we were in was rather small and faced North Hill, so we had little choice but to have the window open. There was a fan provided but it was rather noisy. The hotel did supply ear plugs which was a nice and welcome touch. Worth bearing this in mind if staying there in the summer months!

Hotel was close to the centre.Staff were friendly and efficient. Breakfast was good.

We were put in a small room at the front of the hotel which was very noisy from the road We asked if we could move to a room at the back as we're staying another two nights. The girl on reception was able to accommodate us and we had a restful experience after that.
