I stayed here 3 nights in Finlanka. This was the best resort that we stayed during our 10 days visit in srilanka. Sanjeeva who is the resort owner never said no to anything. During our stay my phone had software issue. His cousin, chami helped me to fix the phone issue. This is what separates this resort from other resorts Breakfast was really good more than enough. Sanjeeva gave personal attention to ask what we liked. Also, he didnot charged us for our extended stay in resort since our flight was in night. He also walked with us and showed snorkelling points, There are snorkel equipments that is free for customers Thanks to all staff. Sorry i donot remember names . Lady who prepared breakfast gave bag full of mangoes as she likes mango. The staff who landed charger for 2 days, since my phone was corrupted and my wife's phone had charger problem. The saff. The room. The location. The breakfast. Everything was exceptional! The best stay in all my Sri Lanka trip! I felt so taken care of and spoiled, from the moment I arrived up until I left. All the staff is super nice and friendly and they do anything they can to make your stay perfect. I highly recommend this place! The rooms are clean, the bufet is generous, the pool was clean, the staff is amazing!

I have read other reviews that mention the railway being close, this is true. For me it was not a problem, there were not that many trains during the night, I slept perfectly.

lovely, friendly staff and excellent location. spacious bedrooms and comfortable beds, fridge in room. gorgeous & clean pool area. shame about the noise of the train but will hear this anywhere in Hikkaduwa as the train runs alongside the coastal town.

Place and owners are welcoming, you can ask anything and they always help you! Room was very good and we had so beautiful sea view. Breakfast was so delicious every morning :) Loved the pool and the location!

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet is very cool with both local and western options. Nice to have the pool option.

I had a lot of problems with the AC, but they really did all they could to try to fix it. the only thing lacking is the option to pay your stay with card.

It was amazing stay and experience. Hotel Finlanka was one of the best place on our trip all over Sri Lanka. Staff is exeptional in this place. Manager Mr. Sanjeewa was very kind of the first minute. He arranged a cheap taxi for us from the airport and met us even at 6 AM for check in, also he is the person in which vocabulary there isn't word "NO" for his customers. When you need something you will get it right away. Hotel facilities are also nice - big swimming pool, nice garden area around. Big rooms with all the needed things - kettle, fridge and etc. They served very delicious and big breakfast with a lot of Sri Lankan and european options. Overall - very nice stay in the perfect hotel which should be rated much higher!

Owner was very helpful and the breakfasts were the best I had in Sri Lanka . The location was fine for the beach and the closeness to the railway line did not disturb me . I recommend it.

Sanjeewa and his family who run the hotel are the most lovely and kind people I have met in Sri Lanka, they really give everything to make sure you have a comfortable and safe stay with them. Really really recommend!

Nice and big room with a nice balcony. A very big couch in the room which was very chill. Very friendly staf and breakfast was amazing. Nice garden with swimming pool. The beach is walking distance. Small 5/10 minutes walks.

Watch out. The trainrail is just next to it and can be loud if the trains passed by.

The location is great and super clean. The traditional breakfast is delicious and varied and the owner goes above and beyond to make sure your stay is as comfortable as possible.

We had an amazing time at Finlanka. Upon arrival we were meet by the hotel manager and his family who all made us feel welcomed and at home. We were given choice of room within the hotel and the rooms were all very spacious. The room we picked had a large king bed, plenty of room, facilities such as safe, hairdryer, kettle, fridge freezer and a balcony to sit out on. The manager also gave us some extra equipment such as extension plugs that we didn't have and some welcome goodies such as tea, coffee, water and biscuits. The manager and his family also helped us get out bearings of the surroundings including recommendations of where we could go for dinner. The hotel pool and surrounding areas where extremely tidy and well looked after. The kitchen area was available for use if needed with lots room to eat in this area too. Our stay included breakfast and it was so yummy! Eat morning we were well looked after with either a Sri Lankan breakfast or a European breakfast. We were also provided really nice coffee and fresh fruit juices. They made sure we were well feed for the day ahead. The hotel manager was also very flexible in supporting us by extending our stay with them by three nights. We were able to borrow snorkeling gear from them which was great and spent some days snorkeling at the nearby coral reef. The location is great as you are so close to the beach (turtle and cor reef beaches) and there are lots of restaurants, shops and supermarkets near by. Having your own fridge certainly made it easier to by your own drinks and food. Overall it was a really amazing stay at Finlanka, we couldn't feel more welcomed by the family, and loved the location as it was ideal. We would certainly return in the future and would highly recommend staying at Finlanka! Thank you!!

The train track is close and can be loud sometimes but it isn't very busy so only often. This is not a fault of the hotel owner though.

The host was one of the friendliest I've encountered in Sri Lanka. He is very helpful with everything, gave us a free lunch when we were chilling at the pool including coffee. Ask the owner anything and he will do his very best to help you. The room was big and the bed was comfortable. The pool is nice to hang in.

The beach with all the surfing schools and (in my opinion) better restaurants are quite far south at Narigama Beach. Advised to take a tuktuk there because you can't always walk all the way down with high tide due to erosion of the coastline. The other widely mentioned downside is the train which you will definitely hear at night (2-3 trains per night). Woke me every time but I fell asleep within the minute so it did not really bother me in the end.
