It's a nice lodge, but too expensive for what you get. It's the only private lodge in Hluhluwe game reserve and the best one you can get in that area, so their only competition is government-owned lodges which are very basic.
The huts were very nice- spacious, well furnished, big comfortable beds, nice bathroom and a fireplace inside. The view from the terrace was breathtaking. We had a little pool on the terrace where it was nice to take a dip in the afternoon.
The game reserve itself is wonderful- really big, lots of animals and the big 5. We saw so many animals, we even saw the lions.
We booked two huts for us, a family of two adults and three kids. Our huts were quite far from each other. We asked them if we could bring our 6 years old son who would sleep with us. They agreed, but forced us to book a separate bed for him for a juicy extra charge. This didn't happen in any other lodge we stayed, where the child was always accepted free of charge.
The food in the restaurant was plentiful, but not very tasty.
Our ranger didn't treat us very nicely. He was doing his job, but he was very stiff, never smiled and never missed a chance to scold us for any minor wrong doing during the safari. Well, maybe it was his character and nothing to do with us, but we had wonderful experiences in other lodges in SA, so in comparison it was the worst experience with the ranger.
Beware that the camp is full of snakes, so it's important to look where you walk. During two days we have encountered three highly venomous snakes on the path to the huts and in the restaurant. The path to the huts is not lit at night so the walk from the restaurant to the hut in the evening is very dark and could be dangerous because of wild animals. During the night we could hear many wild animals around the hut. My daughter said that she was hearing sounds inside the hut like some small animal was running around and even found some droppings in the morning. Probably it was a rat- nothing unusual in the wild, but my daughter was scared and couldn't sleep well.

Game drives with knowledgeable guide. Fantastic views over the bush from the dining area-watching distant giraffes whilst eating. Peaceful and private seating area behind room with huge variety of birds to watch.
It's a long way 10km up a dirt track which was challenging in our standard sedan. Passable, but nerve wracking. This also meant that the first and last 30mins of each game drive was getting back onto the road.

Well designed hotel with good balance of indoor / outdoor areas. Unbeatable location with far reaching views over the reserve. Staff and management were exceptional.

Superb breakfast, afternoon tea and evening meal. Stunning vista over the park. Excellent game drives
The approach was difficult in a small car, especially as it had rained a great deal the previous week. But it is manageable.

Thobeka (sorry if spelt wrong) our game ranger was knowledgeable and made every drive an experience we will never forget. We all left feeling like we had made a dear friend.
I can’t thank all the staff at rhino ridge for making our stay just perfect.
The property is outstanding and breathtaking.
The drive to the lodge was more challenging than expected, would recommend having a 4x4.

Fantastic huge rooms and great hospitality from all the staff. We stayed in the honeymoon suite and the bathroom and view (from all the rooms) is the best, spotting elephants and giraffes from the balcony. Loved the nightly turn down service. Breakfast and dinner were really good and food always plentiful. Enjoyed sitting by the communal fire before dinners and turning the one in the room on late night. Great game drives and beautiful park - we saw most animals except leopard. As it’s a national park and they conserve, you’re unable to drive up to the animals and have to stick to the roads provided.
Also good value compared to other lux lodges and game drives.
fireplace in the room smokes quite a lot
lunch could be improved, potentially a hot option and more savory/less sweet - that being said the rest of the meals were great

decor, location. this lodge is located in a remote, nature surrounded area and the architecture and interior design of the place really mix that in.
actually I loved it, the only thing may be the food is not every day the same quality and the beds could get comfier, but this really nitpicking

Just wow! Definitely one of the best places I have ever visited in my life. Even though it’s not cheap, it’s totally worth it! The whole package is just perfect. A really nice accommodation, amazing food and drinks, and what a stunning view. Everybody here takes care of you and makes your stay unforgettable. Everything is well organised and very detailed. Furthermore, I have never visited a place before, where staff is so super friendly and each of them so well trained on there respective area. Well done, and thanks a lot for the unforgettable memories!

everything from food to the hospitality. The staff is friendly and well trained, The service is efficient and indeed 5 star. I would recommend the owners or management to think of investing or building a play area for kids to accommodate parents who are traveling with toddlers. most definitely we are going to try some of your properties under Isibindi Africa Lodge.
