Central location, historic building, lovely room, brilliant pub downstairs, amazing breakfast!

The location is excellent and the staff were friendly and happy. The room was very nicely appointed, the bed very comfortable and a nice bath. The highlight was the breakfast, which was tremendous. Delicious produce, well prepared and served with a smile.
The coffee wasn’t great.

Great location, small but very cozy room with lots of character. Above all amazing staff, excellent service throughout our stay.
The toilet seat was broken, loose, hardly attached to the toilet. Also, the shampoo and body wash dispenser in the bathroom was empty.

Good selection of food for breakfast.
Room allocated was at top of house and only entered by an extremely steep narrow and winding staircase. Room was cold on first night due to central heating failure, but no alternative means of heating was offered. Bathroom very quirky with sloping ceilings which made use of wash basin and bath difficult, but the facilities had very hot water .

Loved the historic building , the decor, the staff and the food.
It wasn’t quite warm enough. I asked for additional blankets and was given an extra sheet! We were there on a very cold January wknd and the room did warm up at times. Our room was a little small too.

The Standard Inn is a great pub in Rye. The rooms were cozy and comfortable. I loved the rustic pub decor. The Pub is known for its great beer and delicious food. Be sure to reserve a table for dinner as its usually full. The included Breakdown was great. Would highly recommend!

The staff were particularly friendly and attentive . The location is excellent. We asked if we could leave luggage at hotel pre booking in , the answer was “ yes of course “ , and was stored for us in a secure cupboard.

The breakfast was really nice, the room was clean and tidy
The room window was left open so it was a bit cold, other than that it was really nice and comfortable stay.

Bed was a bit small, towel rail was on all day and night so very hot,window would not stay open

the character of the building . the fact it was independent and very clean
bathroom was cramped . if you weee disabled it would not have worked

The room was amazing with it being an old building the floors are running at all sorts of angle. Very friendly staff from the moment we walked through the door. Food was great in the evening & the breakfast.
It wasn't a problem for us but if you want an early night or lay in late don't book a room over the bar. We had read this before we went so were not affected by it. Just remember this is an old building & impossible to sound proof with out ruining the feel & asthetics.

Well located in the heart of historic Rye, comfortable room, lovely breakfast and fantastic staff.
Noise travelled through the ancient building from the bar, but as it closed pretty early it wasn’t of much concern.

Liked the quirky rooms - it is a 15th Century building so you get the feel of an old building but with the comforts of modern living.
