An amazing location! Overlooking the lake where you can see water buffalo, crocodiles, frogs and monitor lizards. Very unique experience staying in the treehouse cabana. Would recommend to anyone staying in Tissa before Yala Safari. The host organised our safari with driver, entrance fees and food and drinks for the day sorted. Couldn’t have asked for a better driver on the day, we were lucky to see multiple leopards along with 3 new baby leopards very rarely seen in the park. 10/10. The host made us dinner the night before our safari which was also lovely.

La propriété est magnifique avec ses cabanes et chalets tous plus atypiques les uns que les autres. Le jardin est superbe avec ses coins cosy et hamacs. L'hôte est très accueillante et n'hésitera pas à vous préparer des sandwichs à emporter si jamais vous faites un safari tôt le lendemain matin. Très reposant.
Attention pour les phobiques des bêtes, certaines cabanes sont complètement ouvertes sur l'intérieur, les insectes, araignées et grenouilles s'en donnent à coeur joie. Il fait également très très chaud dans les cabanes la nuit.

The stuff was very friendly and the view from the room was great. Completely in the Natur. It was very quiet. They helped me with the booking for the safari.
I would say, that the food prices are very high for that place. But the food was delicious.

I cannot speak more highly of this property. From the minute we arrived we were greeted with beautiful smiles and fabulous hospitality from the amazing owner who was happy to help with any advice and queries
The cabanas are set right on the lakeside and are extremely spacious with comfy beds and great fluffy pillows. There is also a mosquito net to keep mozzies at bay and a fan which we found perfectly adequate to keep us cool at night.
The home made food was delicious and ‘Shelley’ the family dog was just adorable. I am scoring this property 10/10 but would score it higher if I could!
If this place is available when you are looking for a place to stay in Tissa then you should book it before it gets booked by others - you won’t be disappointed. We initially booked for 1 night and decided to stay for 3 nights!

Nice views from the balcony straigth over the lake. People very gentle and helpful.
Rain coming through the roof. One bed wet unavailable to sleep. No nets on t'he windows so insects could pay a visit.

beautiful garden, nice place with view. hammocks everywhere, big beds and good mattresses.
it was loud. louder than loud. during the first night there was chanting from the monks. second night as well. third night a peacock came and landed on the roof. so always something happens during the night. unfortunately. because of the wooden hut there’s no noice canceling at all. :/ so no relaxing during the night. :/ if you wanna sleep properly go and get some ear plugs.

Everything - If you want a genuine, authentic Sri Lankan experience, stay here. The Family is fantastic, the food is fantastic and the accommodation is fantastic. Highly recommend this place!!!! Wont forget my time here!

La dueña es increiblemente amable y simpatica.
Nos consiguio eñ safari, el taxi para el dia de irnos…muy maja.
Te prepara una bolsita para desayuno y almuerzo en safari, el desayuno estaba buenisimo…
Todo fue genial.

Everything is well, in tour I could see most animal within 3 leppord so driver is very experice man who know witch time is suitable for each animals.owner they gave us good hospitality. nice envirment with lake and good relaxation place.i were enjoy with fishing .

Perfect location - the huts are located in a garden abutting a beautiful water lily-covered lake. There are chairs, tables and hammocks throughout the garden so you can birdwatch from your doorstep, enjoy a morning coffee by the lake or read a book on a hammock.
The owners are accommodating and helped with our meals, renting out a scooter and organising a safari to Bundala.
Access wasn't too difficult - we took a bus into Tissamaharama and then a short tuktuk ride to the hotel.
The door to our hut couldn't be locked from the inside and sometimes opened in strong wind
Lots of insects - but it can't be helped given the location. There were mosquito nets and anti-mosquito candles in the room

The tree house was fantastic, and the family who run the place very friendly and kind! Fair prices, amazing food and an excellent Yala Safari! Ask for Indu for guide and you won't miss!!

Staying here is a one of a kind experience! You’re constantly surrounded by the beautiful sounds of nature, and the scenery leaves you in awe.
Given the location and set up, as expected we had some creatures in our room, but these were harmless and didn’t really bother us- take your insect repellent and use the provided mosquito net to sleep comfortably :)
Hosts are incredibly welcoming and friendly. We highly recommend this place!

Lovely location at the lake. Very kind family that will cook for you and perfect base to go on a yala safari. Arranged the safari by the accommodation and it was amazing! Very kind guide who made sure we saw all the animals; leopard, bears etc. Stayed longer because the location was so relaxed.

The property is an ideal once in a life time experience of living in a tree house close to nature. Highly recommended.
The host and his family is lovely and serves amazing food.
Every thing was good just bring mosquito repellents spray as living in nature surrounded by trees welcomes tiny creatures at night ;)

We ordered dinner, it was good, we got really good cup of tea, prices are reasonable and room concept was good. Lady owner was vary friendly and kind.
It need assistant for carrying baggages. Because there was distance between parking and room and difficult to climb wooden staircase with weight. There were lots of mosquitoes, use some cream for that.

Ms Danushka was so accomodating and even we arrived late, she helped prepared dinner for us and didn't costs that much. She had 2 cute large dogs who followed us and were so friendly and curious. Ms Danushka also helped to book for Yala National Park with jeep safari (pricey for the safari, but i guess that's the standard price) Definitely recommended and i wish we could stay for more nights.
Location seems a little farther from main road, and has nature and wildlife vibe to our lodge. So, expect many insects, but there is built in canopy mosquito netting on the bed, so that's awesome.

The owners and their family were so incredibly welcoming (including their two lovely dogs). We had an amazing stay - the location is absolutely idyllic - surrounded by nature with beautiful views of the lake. The tree house / cabana was lovely and roomy and spotless - you do share it with the wildlife but the geckos are incredibly cute (we loved watching their antics at night) and there are mosquito nets for the beds.
We went on a safari and the family came along which was lovely (they bought us all plenty of snacks to munch on too) - we saw all sorts of amazing species and were even lucky enough to see a leopard.
We really fell in love with the place and the people - can't recommend enough!

I fell in love with this place and the family and I enjoyed every moment of my stay. The amazing treehouse with a spacious room and big nice bathroom , both very clean, located in a beautiful garden just at the lake. I could sit on a porch for hours and admire birds , squirrels , buffalos crossing the lake ,in such a peaceful, rural surrounding. I am very thankful for all the hospitality and kindness of the whole family. They let me feel like a part of them. Danushka prepares wonderful food, and of course they help you arrange a jeep safari with a good driver (I managed to see a leopard among many other animals !) I definitely recommend their homestay! And if I ever have a chance to come back to this country I will stay in their place again.

Amazing place !!! We spent 2 nights in this lovely place. The food was really delicious. And the owner is very helpful and kind. We did yala safari game drive with them and that was superb. We saw a leopard with a cub and many elephants . Highly recommended . Best place to stay in Tissamaharama.❤️🌿

We had a wonderful stay, travelled with kids, and they loved the place as well. it is a great family running the place, who offers fantastic food at very reasonable prices, and who also helped us to organize our trips around Tissamaharama and Safari to Yala. A special experience awaking to fantastic sunrise above the lake, and falling asleep surrounded by fireflies and to the sound of nature. If you are not afraid to go a bit basic, then this is a must-try-stay. A big thank you from Denmark

Really beautiful location, the family are lovely and very helpful with everything.
Mosquitos are bad in the evening so wear long clothes and you should be fine!

We had a relaxing stay and spent our time watching the birds on the lake after enjoying a morning safari. The staff were wonderful and were responsive if we needed anything. The facility is remote and surrounded by nature, so it is perfect for travelers looking for that environment.

The property was beautiful and located right on the edge of a lake. There were lots of birds on the water. I liked the treehouse style cabana.
The owner was very kind and cooked a delicious dinner of rice and curry. She also organized an excellent Yala safari. My guide was Indu, and he was awesome and seemed to me that he had a great sense and love for the animals in the park. I think he was actually more excited about trying to find leopards than I was! We ended up seeing some leopards up close which I’ll never forget! Thank you for the great stay.
For me, it was not a negative, but people looking to stay here should be aware it is rustic and there are lots of mosquitoes! I brought my 30% deet mosquito spray and was fine. There are nice mosquito nets over the beds and I had no issues with bites during the night.
