Cibo buono. Cómoda l'escursione al canyon. Consigliatissimo!

The host family was very welcoming and made guests feel special. Great location to access the Somoto canyon. Literally a very short walk/ steps to the park entrance.
Beautiful farm with many and varied plants and animals that one can interact with depending on the mood.
Nothing — everything was good. It is, after all, a rural farm location with basic accomodations.

Beautiful serene surroundings. Caring owners looked after me even when I was sick. Francisco and his family were friendly and helpful. The tour I went on with them was good although they grouped me with just one other stranger for this so maybe ask if you'd prefer a bigger group. Tasty food and lots of cute animals around... communal mealtimes made it easy to chat to other guests. Little wifi was a nice disconnect but come prepared for that
Bathroom was rudimentary but still clean and fine for me! I booked the 3 bed room for just me and the bathroom was a walk away

Very supportive staff, reacting pro-actively on your stay. We arrived 6 hrs earlier than planned, but lunch was organized. Great canyoning tour, adapted to our latest time to leave. Great location at the entrance of the canyon. Great food. We got a private drop-off to the busstation (12 km away) !! We certainly would recommend this location.
As the location is remote, no WiFi is available only 3G (on the perfect spot only). Showerhead can be improved.

This place is magic! So much genuine hospitality and care in wonderful, tranquil nature. Francisco came to pick us up from the bus and waited for an hour because the bus broke down. We arrived to wonderful dinner, made from ingredients grown on his farm. The next day we explored the Somoto Canyon, which was amazing. Returned to more wonderful meals and hanging out with all the cute animals which are all part of the family. It was our highlight in Nicaragua!
It was all great! There are no mosquito nets and a few mosquitoes at night, so it is advisable to bring some repellent, that's all.

Francisco and his family are so kind and welcoming! He was great with communication prior to us arriving, he arranged our transport from the Honduran border and helped us arrange local SIM cards. The canyon tour was really fun and the meals were all delicious! The property is beautiful and surrounded by animals and nature.

Francisco and his family were great hosts. The accommodation is simple and rustic but very comfortable. The farm is full of animals and the dinner was very filling. Either you are you are there for the canyon tour or because of the border, it does the trick.

it was an unique experience to stay with a local family. The farm has lots of animals and plants. I especially like the dog named Chloe. She hung around at the front porch with me. Francisco was very attentive and welcoming. his wife is a great cook and she knows all the names of her flowers . Such a sweet family . Jose was my tour guide. He was easy to communicate with even I don’t speak much Spanish and he does not speak much English but we somehow made it a communicate trip.Really recommend it to other travelers.

The farm was wonderful, lots of animals, the food we ate was almost all produced on the farm. The owner Fransisco and his family were amazing. Very accommodating and so knowledgeable about the area and happy to teach us about life on the farm.

This may have been the highlight of Nicaragua. It was so nice and off the beaten track but also so easy!

Staying at Francisco’s place was an incredible experience. If you are looking for an authentic “off the beaten track” experience of Nicaragua, then this is a must. Excellent value for money and seeing the Somoto Canyon is really amazing. Francisco has a lovely home and experience!

Lovely host, share their kitchen, provide breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Hamoks available.
The visit of the canon can be done without a guide. Otherwise a full package of room, canon tour, dinner, breakfast costs 35 US $ at the moment (Jan. 2023).
Just be aware that there is no Wifi available and the internet reception is week.
No mosquito net provided. Matress is solala.

This place is just awesome. It is really quiet and chill, perfect for relax. And Francisco is so nice person, all the time taking care if you are satisfied and don't miss anything.

if you want to eat organic, learn about agriculture, how Nicaraguan family live, cook… it is one of the best place. they have also different Canyon tours and the place is just in-front of the canyon entry. it is peaceful place to rest a couple of days.

Super friendly local family run business. They are keen to involve you and show you around if you like. great value for money too as the price of the room and meals is included if you do the Somoto Canyon tour. definitely one of our favourite stays of the whole trip.
nothing worth mentioning, just don’t expect a five star resort hotel

+ amazing located next to the canyon
+ loads of animals, sweet puppies, perrots, cows, horses..
+ 3 meals a day: vegan and vegetarian options
- the rooms are really really basic with an uncomfy bed
- a mosquito net over the bed is much needed to not be eaten by mosquitos at night
- the roosters start crowing at 3:45 am and don't stop: bring earplugs and prepare for little sleep

I'm really amazed by the whole experience offered by La Ceibita Tours. They picked me up from the border (even though it took few hours) and they were waiting for me in front of the building. When we arrived to La Ceibita dinner was waiting, which was absolutely awesome, since I was starving.
The next day they offered me trip to the Canyon, which was also better than expected. The canyon itself is breathtaking and one of the coolest things I did in Nicaragua. But also whole supoort provided by Francisco and his family was really amazing. Worth mentioning is also the guide Anselmo, who had incredible knowledge about the canyon and nature...
All in all, amazing experience, very peaceful stay in the farm in middle of the nowhere... under the beautiful starry sky and in the incerdible silence.
Even if the wifi is not working properly it doesnt matter. You will enjoy this little internet detox.

Nice place after you cross the border. To chill to go to canyon

Francisco might be one of the warmest and and most enterprising individuals I've ever encountered. He and his family live in seemingly perfect communion with animals and nature- an idyllic situation he eagerly shares with anyone lucky enough to visit.

We loved everything about this place! It is located very close to the Somoto Canyon. The staff is amazing: Francisco and his wife were really welcoming, and always keen on chatting and having us around to discover their home. They even came to the bus terminal and gave us a ride to the accommodation. The room and bathroom were clean and cosy. The food was amazing too. We did canyoning with their friend Miguel, who was friendly and extremely professional too. We also did horse riding next to the canyon. All in all: amazing stay, absolutely recommend.
(And a huge + if you’re an animal lover: they have friendly cows, dogs, cute kittens and parrots 🦜)

Very friendly staff, including guide, basic but very tasty food, lots of animal to watch and touch
Lack of stable internet (however owner shared net from his mobile phone whenever we needed, still signal was weak due to country border near by)

Fantastic stay. The best part is the hosting family. They are endearing, friendly, and by request permit you to partake in their activities. No better way touristing a developing country than actually being able to see the lives of locals! If you visit "middle-of-nowhere-Nicaragua" for pure comfort I'd usually say you got strange expectations, but honestly, this place fits the comfort box as well.
Good price, good food, and good location. It's a family-owned farm, but in no way does that disturb you; instead it enriches the stay.

The accommodation was clean and very comfortable in the midst of nature. The food was good for a reasonable price. Francisco was super friendly and did an absolutely amazing trip through the canyon with us. Definitely worth visiting!

Had an amazing time here! Fransico picked us up at the border and is really friendly. The food was really nice also for vegans. It is really close to the canyon, so you can walk to the canyon. The place is part of small community so all the money gets divided between the different familie of you do the tour. Moreover, it was great deal for the tour, 3 meals and 1 night.

Our stay at la cebita was great. Francisco was a great host, played games with us, gave us loads of useful information for travelling onwards in Nica and even paid for taxi to pick us up at the border after all the buses had finished. Also recommend booking a tour for the canyon with him, Joshua our guide was fun and spoke perfect English.

It is a really nice place near the canyon de Somoto. The rooms are simple, but for the rate per night a great deal and very clean. The family was super helpful, thank you again for the authentic food and the good vibes. I also enjoyed the tour through the canyon which were organised by Francisco.
