The hostel is in a fantastic and safe location - exceptionally close to all amenities including cafes, restaurants and the cathedral. It's also a beautiful building, although it needs a bit more TLC and love too. It has a kitchen which was good to cook meals in, but the microwave wasn't working and there wasn't much cutlery or glasses. Great value for money and staff members were happy to help when they could. The housekeeper was cheerful.

Although the staff were kind, sometimes there was no-one present at reception during the day - meaning that we were locked in the building on the day we were leaving Santa Ana as the front door could only be opened by them (however, we eventually managed to find a way to leave via the back entrance in order to get breakfast). There's also a strict 10pm curfew at night where you're unable to leave or be let in. Additionally, although laundry was meant to be same day service (we were promised it would be ready midday after giving it in the morning, something we also confirmed the previous day as we were on a tight schedule), my friend's laundry wasn't handed to her until late morning the next day despite repeated reassurances from the previous afternoon that it would just be one more hour. In this matter, staff were not very helpful. There were no apologies but when pushed, a partial refund was offered. This, alongside being locked in and staff not being accessible, meant that we returned to San Salvador at a later time for our onward shuttle. Lastly, in our twin room, the toilet and shower weren't in a separate room and therefore didn't have ceilings, meaning we had to use a different bathroom outside the room to maintain some privacy! The hotel is promising but it needs some work.

The building is old colonial mansion. I love the layout, open area and courtyards.

Adjust to the shower need to be made. In order for guest to meet their needs, a working microwave should be included in the guest kitchen.

The owner and his sons were very friendly and helpful; large room; wi-fi worked really well in my room as did the air-conditioning; great location not far from the main square, shops, and restaurants

The hostel was a bit rough around the edges; the room I was in definitely needs a new showerhead as the water was barely coming out

Very close to town, nice and helpful staff. We has air con which helped a lot. The building was lovely and classical, I personally had no issues the maintenance of the place. Our private room was huge.

Trying to get in/out of the hostel was hard because we always had to bluse the door bell- in saying that this seems to be an issue in a number of Santa Ana hostels. Some free water would have been great.
