The location cannot be better. 10 min from railway station 10 min from port/cruise terminal by foot. Easy access to the canal and glass shopping walks. Bathrooms are good and clean and give you a taste of Jananese bathing style in seperate wet room. So much to offer BUT SO MUCH MORE TO DO IF THEY WANT TO SEE MORE BUSINESS FROM WESTERN TOURISTS

Hotel and booking dot com did not alert guests that construction is going on from 10am to 5pm...until after you have checked in and paid. The hotel is limited in ability to move beyond Japanese guests...all inroom facilities and amenities are local focussed...eg no coffee in room..not even instant coffee...tea is only green tea. Towels are miniscule. Pillows are smallest i have ever seen - even by Japanese standards. I have travelled to Japan many times and am prepared to adapt to local standards/norms but Nord sets a whole new -low- level bar. Our room faced west and had sun beeming in from 5am thru pretty thin curtains so room was 30C. And could not be cooled as the air con is locked into winter setting until May. We could not sleep in the room on night one....made them move us for night 2 and even that room too warm until they UNLOCKED the windows and delivered a portable fan.

The hotel had great style. It was also in a great location, right on the canal. We could see the canal and the sea from our room. The hotel staff were all amazingly friendly and helpful, supplied us with amenities such as face creams and razors etc. they were very happy to store our luggage after we checked out. Check in and check out was a very smooth process and the hotel is easy to navigate. We did not use the bar, but I have heard from locals that it is good and has good cocktails.

Renovation work started on our floor the day we arrived and was extremely loud from before 9 am until 6pm almost. It gave me a severe migraine and so I spent half of a day trying to recover before giving up. Nothing was offered to us to make up for the nuisance at all. We were not warned in advance of this so I didn't have earplugs ready.
