Gut erreichbar. Liegt zw. Gatwick Airport und London Zentrum. 3 Bahnhöfe in Fußnähe, ruhige Lage,

Wasserkocher im Zimmer
Das angekündigte englische Frühstück gab es die ganze Woche nicht, mit der Begründung, dass der Koch krank ist. Stattdessen gab es nur süße und abgepackte Dinge, die auch noch knapp bemessen waren (inklusive Milch, 1,5l für 15 Personen, obwohl es Müsli gab).
Im Zimmer waren einige Lampen durchgebrannt und die Gastgeber wirkten recht wurschtig/unaufmerksam .

The garden chalet room was large, clean, quiet, warm and well furnished. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was good.
Liked the separate, external entrance through the gate onto the side road.
Excellent value for money.
Carl was great but perhaps could do with some assistance when it gets busy at breakfast time.
I couldn't get the 2 remotes tv system to work but that wasn't a great problem.
People with mobility issues should note that breakfast is served in the basement so there are steep stairs whether you stay in one of the garden rooms or in the main house.

We enjoyed a clean and comfortable room and awesome breakfast! The house is located in a quiet residential neighborhood and near a train station. There are supermarkets, restaurants, etc. in the walking distance.

Good value for money- lots of space and storage-quaint, love the garden and water fountain- peaceful. Comfortable bed and fab shower- breakfast was lovely and cook was very accommodating. Room management and complimentary nibbles was a lovely touch. Easy access to central London with tubes.

The room was very clean and comfortable. And so pretty! The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. The freshly cooked hot breakfast was very good. The train station is close by, but be aware that the closest station is on zone 4, so it's a bit more expensive. Overall we had a very nice time staying at Melrose House.
The house is old and therefore the floorboards creak and the soundproofing isn't very good. The other guests were pretty quiet so it wasn't a problem for us, but it made us very self-conscious. The toilet was a bit tricky to flush (but it did work, so just a minor annoyance).
