Attention for detail. Chalets looking out over the river (ours did, make sure to ask for this as there are also rooms that have a garden view). Good veg menu. Very large bed.

Very good restaurant and spa!

A very good, clean hotel with helpful and polite staff. Both breakfast and dinner were very good. The room was big and it had parking in the premices.

The swimming pool was very small and it had internet only in the common areas.

On the River, with nice well tended grounds. Community viewing platform was comfortable Good food!

Glasses and bottles were left far too long on tables outside, and not cleared away for new guests to sit at. Clean swimming pool.

1. Family chalet the fence is broken in a few places so that the village children can peep into the room, sometimes even asking for things. but the Management said they are planning to build a wall. 2. River view Tent the tent is very hot during the day and very cold in the morning. There is air conditioning but we didn’t switch it on so that I caught a very bad cold there. also the tent is already a bit dated. the big sofa looks also not very nice in the tent. we will for sure book a Chalet if there is another time. it seems to me Chalets 1-4 with River views are quite nice.

WiFi was bad. Since we were there for work we needed wifi. Sending an e-mail took for ages. We have stayed in very remote places and had much better wifi.

One of the most impressive things at Shametu are the very friendly staff members, they made my stay more than comfortable. The area of the Lodge is very warm-hearted and spacious, a pool, two bars, a lounge, the restaurant area, a nice view to the Okawango River. The food was very delicious, and a boat cruise on the Okavango River is truly recommended. It is chilling, informative, and you enjoy a nice finish at the nearby located Popa Falls, where you leave the boat for some nice picture-spots. Some of them on some bigger rocks that are lying into the river, others on the bank, where you maybe are lucky and find a crocodile chilling on a sand bank.

When booking ask for a chalet in the first row to the river, these ones offer a terrace directly at the river bank, so you can enjoy this fantastic view and atmosphere from your room, what is very much better than a chalet in the 2nd row.

Overall, the lodge can be very much recommended. We enjoyed a river chalet. The interior was spotlessly clean and functional. The bathroom was a bit older but in perfect condition. The view was magnificent. Staff was very friendly and helpful - 10/10. The river cruise including Pops Falls (with a highly knowledgeable guide) was a wonderful experience. Food was delicious (breakfast and dinner) although there was a bit of room for improvement on the steak and the breakfast yogurt - 9/10.

The room could have - as a standard- adapters for European plugs. The food could be a bit more exquisite (for the price). Nonetheless, a clear recommendation.
